then consider no gps lorh. they cant even promise that it is working. never thought it would happen after a long wait. well, apart from the disappointment, it's a good thing tech moves on fast nowadays. bye2 TP. sad.gif(

and i hope you'll get sued for using the name of Optimus Prime!!  vmad.gif  tongue.gif

i'm also fxcking frustrated, so hyped up about this, but in the end, no gps (as u said, weak gps = no gps). was planning to get a multi function tablet to replace my ageing laptop, for car gps / entertainment system + multimedia system during my lunch / dinner time entertainment + travel companion to remote access my Linux servers (need the keyboard to type commands). but the gps is such a let down! now don't know what to buy already......i won't get dual core tablets, and other brand's quad core tablets don't have any news yet...

but US selling price is so much cheaper than sgp set??? hopefully msia set will not have that high sky price.. i was expecting  rm2.1k-2.3k with dock which compare to rm1.8k of transformer 1.. but now.. sad.gif
*
Sg set SGD$899 + dock SGD$199 = 1098 SGD = RM 2676 rclxub.gif rclxub.gif
+ No GPS , No 3G doh.gif
Will get one only if price drop.
Why spend RM 2.7k for a tab which doesn't properly function GPS + no 3G and can't use 3g USB port to go online.
With 2.7k , you can get a fruitpad 3

haha
so many ppl complain to ASUS sg...
but it is really pricey if selling at $899 compare to US $499

Hope malaysia price will be cheaper by at least below >2k

Here's the GPS explanation
http://www.anandtech.com/show/5285/asus-ee...issue-explained

You can consider the delay of almost 1 min and if you are traveling at highway = no GPS at all.
The aluminum casing is the culprit as asus QC didn't check on it.

Yes I can save my RM3k for something else... No GPS no 3G nothing to brag about.. it's not all in 1 tablet. Who's going to buy tablet just for gaming purpose? I want internet on the go... Hope other brands will create better tablet.

the gps issue might slow down the sales of this device.

the gps and high price will definately slow down the sales..and if every where run out of stock, it will even make those who interested get mad and give up of waiting.. like what happen to tf1 last time...search for it almost 1 month+ only got stock.. the hype also came down that time.

if really above rm2.3k, i will hold it till the price come down to at least 2k.. i believe after next month, other manufacturers will all come out with many more model.. like samsung and acer.. smile.gif

agree with you...spent 2.7k for tab but losing GPS + no 3G is too expensive.. i rather wait for other and see if it will drop price by that time too.. how come so big different between US price and SGP price.. doh.gif 2.7k can get me a very good spec of notebook even.. sad.gif and need extra to spent for accessories again like casing and sp.. nearly 3k after that.. rclxub.gif

Just received my 32GB grey prime. Updated to the latest firmware, charging and playing with it now. Extremely disappointed with the wifi and GPS performance.

For Wifi, I was able to get full bar with my transformer, but only 2/4 bars with the prime. Haven't tested the exact speed yet.

For GPS (indoor), I put it side by side with my phone, my phone was able to detect a row of satellites in less than 15 seconds with GPSTest, while the prime was still searching for signals after 3 minutes.

I am seriously considering if I should return it. hmm.gif

Update: Ran speedtest on both my phone, PC and prime all with Wifi, results looked comparable. So I guess my only concern now is the GPS performance.

Is there any hope that ASUS would mass produce a new batch that would solve this hardware issue?
One that has a plastic part to act like a window for the antenna and GPS receiver.

So far the estimated price that I've heard from shops selling Asus is about RM2099. One forummer is selling for RM2199 in this forum as well. So I guess it won't be as high as Sgp price lo.... smile.gif
Any of you confirmed getting it? I've been waiting for it for so long and have even sold my iPad about a month ago anticipating this release.... So yeah I guess I'm almost sure to buy it.

We're so much focused on the bad side of this tablet.
Why not take a look from a different view.

Readable outdoor
Quad-core gaming (can also cucuk ur xbox and ps3 controller)
External storage
Tablet to Netbook hybrid
Confirmed ICS this 12th

We have to accept it has poor wi-fi and GPS, it sucks I know.
But hey, it's the most powerful android tablet to date!

The prime's wifi is fine, just gps is weak. it would be completely useless if the wifi is weak on a wifi only tablet!
