Standard charges for bank cheque:

Alliance and OCBC FOC if cheque written in your name. Can't remember if Citibank was free.

HLB and PBB RM2.15.

RHB and MBB RM5!

Talking aboyt withdraw fd in cheque, I kena hlb 5bucks woh.... Junior fd. Maybe junior fd more exp? sad.gif
Citibank is 0.15. Ambank is 2+ cant rmb exact amt

Today at HLB to withdraw my children's FD, yes, HLB now charges RM5.15 per cheque! According to the Exec, this was implemented after they took over EON Bank and follow EON Bank's fee. Luckily I have Priority Status and therefore it only cost me RM0.15/cheque even tho the cheque in my children's name, save me RM15.

As for OCBC GIA-i, cannot have account joint with child, need to be 18 years and above. And UOB PB status now requires AUM RM500K.

how much you talking about and for how long?

Guys for example if I wanted to take out 10k from HLB saving and deposit into OCBC Fixed Deposit. Whats the best way? I have no cheque book and is it better to do with bank draft?
I'll have to open OCBC bank account first in order to do this else can the bank draft been cleared at the same day visit?
*
You can either withdraw cash or ask HLB to write you a cheque in your name and if will cost you RM5.15/cheque. You do not need to open an Account with OCBC first, take the cheque from HLB and go to OCBC and tell them you want to open new FD account and the FD will start on the same day (if it is during normal working hours).

Define long term for your case. If 12 months and below, please refer 1st post. If 4-5 years, do a search on MBSB and Bank Rakyat.

Was in OCBC last wednesday opening an FD to enjoy the 9 mth FD rate. Saw the mighty saver and the staff explained to me it is for the kid. Seem she does not know her own product well otherwise I could have just took up the 4% rate...... vmad.gif

When it comes to OCBC, it seems that we get different feedback depending on who we talk to. Like aeiou mentioned about banking software, and coupled with Terms & Conditions that is written to make it as vague as possible, I guess their staff also blur.

Aiyo!!! But they don't really offer much for their Privilege Banking service compared to other banks.

UOB PB better than any other PB, free coffee and cold drinks for the entire family at their branch at Orchard Road tongue.gif PBB also need AUM RM500K and their CC no better than UOB's. UOB PB hall is usually crowded, too many people got PB Status. I guess with inflation, we can expect more banks to increase the required minimum AUM.

OT, I attended a dinner hosted by UOB just b4 CNY and the food was excellent, but I did not get the invitation, the person who was invited wanted a driver and I volunteered, hahaha.

Gen-X, think the hotline ppl gave wrong info.  So far didn't see any consolidated statement from OCBC. I got only the FD statement, the format is as you described in your earlier post.  Like yours, my statement shows that all of the 'problematic' FDs still tagged at 5%.  Hopefully, the problem will turn out to be a mini windfall for the two of us and others who may be 'lucky' enough like us to get the really, really special rate!
*
I don't think OCBC PB issues Consolidate Statement like UOB and Alliance, because if they did, we would have received it by now. Also, I have yet to get my OCBC PB Debit card. I think sure we get as system already shows it smile.gif 1.5 months to go and then got to find new promo again, hehe

I wasn't aware there is a special OCBC Premier Banking debit card. I expect a picture from you mate (as soon as you get it)  biggrin.gif

The dinner at Oriental Banquet PJ, no need buy anything smile.gif But it was not for PB but organized by their commercial banking.

Sorry Bro, my bad, not Debit card, ATM card blush.gif

hi bro. thanks for reply!
erm, maybe a rm10k-15k? 1-3years
*
Bro, where have you been after posting?

RM10K and above for 1 year, please refer to first page. You have options like UOB 3.75% or OCBC GIA-i 4%, where you no need to open any savings account to enjot the promotion.

If you want to go for up to 3 years, rates are negotiable. With Affin offering 3.6% for 1 year, I would think you should be able to get the same or maybe even higher than 3.6% for tenures up to 3 years. If you go to the major commercial banks websites, most of their rates for up to 3 years cannot match or beat Affin's current 3.6% for 1 year.

Having said the above, if you are willing to consider Bank Rakyat for 24 to 35 months, then click below link

http://www.bankrakyat.com.my/web/guest/126

or just for info http://www.mbsb.com.my/deposits_fixed.html

And before you ask anything about Bank Rakyat or MBSB, please read previous posts in this thread or at least search Bank Rakyat and MBSB to read the relevant posts. FYI deposits with Bank Raykat and MBSB are not insured by PIDM (someone please correct me if I am wrong).

What product in OCBC give u guys 4%? Anyone kind enough to pls clarify?

Please read previous posts. This matter was discussed earlier. The point is for Islamic FD/Investment, the banks cannot tell you it is guaranteed.

To ALL: Alliance bank also offering 3.6% for 3 months FD Min RM10K. Updated first post, now waiting for tomorrow and see if UOB comes out with new promo.

Just went to OCBC , a bit disappointed after they told me that they don't allow the Principal / Interest of the promotional FD to be credited into saving account upon maturity. I need to be physically present to withdraw the FD, if not they will renew it a board rate for the same period.

Can anyone confirm this?
*
yah auto renew at board rate - normal. Bro, from what I gather, the person you spoke is giving you "hint" on how to get Promo rate if OCBC has one after your FD matures.

Please substantiate and which bank you talking about?

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Mar 7 2012, 10:54 PM)
I heard that for a single account of more than RM1 million, the FD rate will not be "normal". Meaning the rate will be lower.

So for more than RM1 million, it is better to spread to more than 1 bank.
*
Please do not post hearsay.

FYI, last month, you got RM1 million, HSBC give you better rate. Please go check out post #2. And OCBC giving up to 5% currently.

It is NOT hearsay. Maybe I should not have used "I heard". As what MilesAndMore said, ""Tier-2 rate applies but as i said, if you have at least a few Millions Ringgit, you can always negotiate for a better rate.""

Below from Hong Leong website:
2nd tier FD apply for individual and SMEs with FD totalling more than RM1.0 million in aggregate per customer
http://www.hlb.com.my/qa/ir/irfd.jsp?flag=irfd
*
Well, you should have gave the link earlier and not after Miles mentioned it right tongue.gif

Anyway, if you or your company have couple million or more, HLB would be more than glad to offer you higher than Tier 1 rate - that is if you speak to the manager of the branch. As for SME, the banks commercial unit will come looking for you if you got more than a couple millions and offer you interest rates better than what they offer to individuals, e.g. HSBC, OCBC and UOB.

Even Affin will offer you slightly more than 3.6% for 12 months if you have a million ringgit smile.gif

No doubt can get slightly higher rate but not all the time. Depending on the bank's cash flow, large amount fd occasionally do gets lower rates than small amount fd like what bbgoat said above.
*
Bro, you should go talk to UOB and OCBC Commercial Banking unit.

Went to HLB today, but can't remember the exact FD Promo tenures as it did not interest me because need to deposit some funds into CASA

Two rates 3.6% and 3.7% if not mistaken for 12 and 24 months respectively.

For deposit up to RM499,999, need to deposit 10% equivalent into CASA
For above RM500K, beed to deposit RM50K into CASA.

Better just go with UOB 12 months at 3.7% no need deposit a sen into CASA.

UOB 3.7% perhaps but is for 1 year.

I got strong feeling OCBC will come out with equally competitive rates since UOB and HLB got promo. Only thing is mah fan, must transfer in and out

if you read back few posts, I mentioned they do currently have promo, but need to deposit 10% into CASA. Promo till June.

RHB also have new step up promo up to 4.88% for duration up to 12 months and also need to deposit 10% into CASA for 90 days. Yet to work out the average (now got new hobby busy conquering ancient china on RTKXI, haha). Anyone willing to work out the average? Link below

The average is 3.638% for 12 months

QUOTE(lkcheng @ Mar 28 2012, 12:02 PM)
UOB FD promo is better.

UOB FD
- 10k minimum
- 3.7% pa
- No saving or current account required to open

RHB FD
- 10k minimum
- 3.638% pa (effective rate)
- Must open a saving or current account and deposit an extra of 10% of the amount of your FD into the account.
*
For the RHB 3.638% did you guy take into consideration of the 10% 90 days in CASA (assume negligible interest)?

If yes, then 3.638% is competitive.

If No, then please someone work out the average for RHB.
