FYI, the rooting techniques shown in the first page won't work for the latest stock android ver 2.3.6. It won't work not just on S2 only, but same as other phone.

In XDA forum, there has updated the method known as memory crash method. Using this method, at last, I managed to root my phone.. Here's the xda forum link for the memory crash method

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...9&postcount=428

This method works fine on my SGS2, Android ver 2.3.6, DZKJ2. Now, it's time for me to look for more apps..

TS : I suggest you update the first page to include this method..

Its already known in this thread just that TS is MIA for quite some time already.

If you scroll up to creezalird post, look at his signature:-
"revised PDF guide i9100G (covers from updating to rooting and misc)"

Its the latest guide. Newbie proof.

Side note: Just realize the Xda link pointed to our very own creezalird's method. Do download his pdf guide! thumbup.gif

May i know the 1st method on 1st page for rooting works well for and ver 2.3.4 ? and anyone used this method and sucessfully rooted the phone ? thanks for replies biggrin.gif

It should work for any ver less than 2.3.5. And I believe, this method is safe and won't brick any phone. If it fail, it simply fail and won't not do any changes to the phone..

Which version? Drain faster than what?

If superatmos kernel v1.2 compare to v1.1, yes, it drains faster as it main focus is to balance battery life + performance.

Change Log
v1.2
-Added smartass and interactive governors
-Set default governor to smartass (balance of both battery saving and performance)
-/system/etc/init.d and /etc/init.d support
-custom boot animation and custom boot sound support (Place bootanimation.zip or PowerOn.wav in /sdcard/superatmos folder and reboot )
-fixed minor issues with rooting and su
-support for custom boot scripts

The battery saving combo would be:

superatmos kernel v1.1 + SuperROM v1.1 (do check the Change Log later once XDA is up to understand)

Do bear in mind, alot of standard apps has been removed in SuperROM v1.1. Mostly labelled as bloatware.

How long it takes for your GPS to lock? It seems to take a long time from a cold start.

yes, it is stupidly very slow even after edited gps.conf
to make it a little faster, run "gps status" first to lock it and preferably u are not moving/driving at that time as it will reduce the possibility for locking, just park on the sideway..lols

guys, just flashed superatmos 1.1 and superrom 1.1 this evening.
just wondering is it normal for the battery to go down to 75% in just two hours and a half?

or do i have to perform some task before the battery stabilize(dunno if this term correct) such as wiping cache etc.

Depends what were you using the phone for 2.5 hours.
Charge to full and then do battery calibrate either thru CWM or download from market Battery Calibrate.
I don't know about others, but my battery is about 2-2.5% per hour on normal usage so if you can get about that or better, then your battery life is ok.
Else, check runaway processes that is draining battery such as wifi sharing etc.. Oh lastly, if you are using dlink wifi router, watch out, that could be the main battery killer literally.

My DIR655 can wipe out all my androids(SGS1, SGS2, MINI, and IPAD2) battery in 8 hours.
