Edit: It is possible to substitute the firmware with the latest one (DZKJ2), but you'll need the original kernel-image only tar file, which sadly I haven't be able to find at the moment  sad.gif
i've rooted my phone using the old version technique.

so far there is no original kernel image for DZKJ2 to flash?

and found out there is an update for my phone.currently 2.3.5 version. so can i update as usual or do i need some latest firmware such as DZKJ2?

im a bit confusing.

Just update as usual but u have to root again.
If u just wan the ROOT u may refer to the first method
If u wan to install the Custom Rom then u should flash to MyGKernel and then install the Custom ROM
But due to the original kernel of DZKJ2 is still missing so u will get a yellow triangle warning logo on start up.
Btw I suggest you to update 2.3.6 via phone (Settings>About Phone>Software Update)

thanks bro!. so if i want to root back the phone with custom rom, im better off with the new technique?

anyway as for now mayb just updating my phone as usual for now.need to study more!

hi all,

i just updated to 2.3.6 this morning and how come my previous super user is still there?thought must re root again?
*
first thing,

i've just updated my phone to 2.3.6
and mine too has still superuser icon and my titanium backup(free version) still can be open. i wonder if that can clarify my phone is still rooted even the phone has been updated.

and secondly, let's say i want to root my phone back with custom rom this time like this guy

QUOTE(EightPhantomz @ Nov 14 2011, 08:32 AM)
I'm now on 2.3.6 DZKJ2 Rooted + MyGKernel + Custom ROM.

So i think the update doesnt unroot ur phone, thats good smile.gif
MyGKernel is a custom kernel that support CWM (Clockwork Mod)
Ya, the orange theme is a custom rom~
So if u wan to install the custom rom, flash MyGKernel via ODIN (enter downloads mode Vol.down+home+power)
then flash the custom rom via CWM (recovery mode Vol.up+home +power)
Then u can enjoy a rooted i9100G v Orange custom rom but with the yellow triangle logo on startup~
(can use usb jig to clear it i think, correct me if I'm wrong)

MyGKernel
Here is the link for the kernel smile.gif
*
thanks bro, icon_rolleyes.gif

but i need to clarify this, read the MyGKernel page u gave.

it is said that compatible with DZKI1 firmware for 2.3.5.so it does also compatible with 2.3.6?

so when I install the MYGKernel. I shall get CWM.then i can use it to install custom rom right?

stock firmware is not flashable under CWM, u need Odin.

for ur problem with battery, have u try clearing "cache" and "dalvik-cache" and repairing permissions in CWM?
because in my case, if i dont do these steps, usually i will end up with a battery hogging rom. Try it first

plus clear battery stats too in CWM. thought it will not help with battery calibration but it will reset the data of the battery
*
it did work, doesn't hogging my battery anymore.still monitoring though..trying to play around with it.

anyway, the superROM did remove some of samsung application. i tried to restore using titanium backup, but it seems the process took waaayyyy too long. is it cause the ROM unable it to restore?

Added on December 13, 2011, 1:30 pmhas anyone try the ICS themes?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334922

can those modified boot animation or icon be done on G phone?

i take those link on superROM thread.tried the black themes, battery consumption is good for normal use, but it's sooo black.don't like it.

For titanium backup, try tick usb debugging first before try to restore.

thanks for replying bro, learned a lot today. tongue.gif

Added on December 13, 2011, 4:14 pmI did tick the usb debugging,
application>developement>USB debugging

but the titanium backup still take a long time to restore. tried to restore for one app, but seems it can't be done. don't know what went wrong..

For safety and "clean" install. Put in pit and dzkj2 and flash. Phone becomes stock.
Then u can go flash the kernel . Do two step is ok as long as safe and guarantee no issuez.

Its noob proof .....almost .
*
so u're saying that not necessary to put in stock or custom kernel to flash back to stock rom?

a bit confius.gila noob aku nieh.haha.

gosh, did u ever read my pdf guide..

for rom flash, as u select the pit file, the re-partition will be ticked automatically. as the pit : partition info table

for kernel flash, no need for pit file, so by default re-partition is unticked.no need to tick.

for both situations, no need to tick re-partition, everything should be automatically ticked
*
lol.i did read your pdf file.but i didn't notice the first page.my mistake. shocking.gif thanks for clarify!! smile.gif

by the way, for now my phone is using superAtmos kernel, if i flash back to stock rom. my kernel is still remain superatmos right?

thus i don't need to flash back my kernel as i want to maintain my kernel and only to flash back to stock rom.

for getting back stock firmware, there are only two ways

1) using CWM backup/restore, only if you have made stock backup from the first time

2) using Odin, reflash back to stock firmware, the kernel will be reverted back to stock. So you need to root it back.

My current phone : running stock, rooted with doomlord, flash superatmos kernel using ktool
*
oh i see. u do need to flash the kernel back. thanks!

i didn't back up my stock.woo..

But now im not sure how to flash to SuperRom 1.1 (even i read creezalird repeatedly). Can anyone explain how to flash a rom?
*
1 Download the zip Rom.

2 Copy it to sdcard for example
/sdcard/Superrom.zip

3 Flash it through CWM.

how to get to cwm?

download HC-ktool from market.its free

click "reboot to recovery"

select advanced if im not mistaken

then click install zip from sd card.
