Or bring your sim card and ask the Nokia shop to cut it for you. Keep the cut-off portion to use as an adapter in case you want to go back to normal sim. Better make a call from your new N9 to test it out.

Yeah, cut it at Nokia shop is free, they will give you back the portion so you can paste to use in regular sim if needed.
Also, ask them to transfer your contacts for you in case you get stuck. Some older non Nokia model got problem transfer using bluetooth, Ovi Suite, Nokia Suite.

The N8 photos look much better than the N9. Not that I recommend buying an N8 at this time unless you just want a good camera.

I think stores will open but service center won't.

If the white LED at the bottom of the screen don't light up when you charge or press the power button, I guess it's safe to say there's a fault with the hardware.

I think it must be first batch glitches. A few users in other forums have also experienced dead N9 after using for a while. Only happens to N9s made in China.

Sorry, I can't point to any thread because it was sometime back. It will be no help to you anyway because they were not able to solve their problem with any software fix.

Opera doesn't install properly. There is no specific version for N9 yet. Firefox is still in beta but can be used. For downloading files better than the bundled browser.

A cross platform instant messaging app LiveProfile is coming to Symbian and Meego soon. It now runs on ios, Android and Blackberry.

http://blog.liveprofile.com/

WP7 is not mentioned but who cares? Almost nobody in Malaysia or the world use WP7. (2% global market share)

With the rise of alternative cross-platform IM apps like LiveProfile, ebuddy and Chat-on, Whatsapp dominance may be broken soon especially when they are so selective about porting to new platforms like Meego.

Why not just install and try yourself? It's free anyway. Somebody's preference may not match yours.

Refer here to download firefox 10 beta from here : http://everythingn9.com/firefox-10-nokia-n9/

You must have developer mode on, allow installations from non store, and install a file manager
Firefox is slower than the in built browser, need to tap, then wait. It has tabs, history & all. I can sync some of the bookmarks from my PC's firefox, it doesnt sync all, just the latest 15 or so.

Opera Mobile not yet. You go ahead & try 1st
I'm testing the VLC player now. Everyone, as tested by other members earlier, VLC cant play 720p.
The only format VLC can play that the stock player cant is rmvb, but only play, increase & decrease volume, that's all.
If rewind or forward, it'll give out a shrill sound(yucks)

Lets join for Twitition for a WhatsApp port on the N900/N950/N9. If there are enough signs, maybe we can get an official version of the app.
