if the purpose is tax relief... do note that it is temporary and ends 2021... 10 years from YA2012.

so i would say yes, start as early as possible because only up to 2021? tongue.gif

Heavy exposure in China is definitely no.

Most of the PRS funds are feeder to existing funds.

Take Hwang PRS funds as example, they're feeding into more than 1 fund to maximize return and reduce risk.

To answer your question, I believe the answer is low. Even PRS growth fund won't dump everything into a single country or region.

Thanks David. I read alot of your post. Any suggested funds to look into that have been providing good returns?

I am thinking of switching from Public to another fund. But my head tells me diversify my this year's tax allowance into another fund to see first. So I have got 3K to play with this year.

If you want offshore exposure, you can consider:

CIMB Islamic PRS Plus Asia Pacific Ex Japan Equity Fund or

CIMB Principal PRS Plus Asia Pacific Ex Japan Equity Fund

Both are feeders to heavily exposed funds at Asia ex Japan region under CIMB.

1. Affin Hwang PRS Moderate Fund: ROI: 10.7%, IRR: 7.7%
and Kenanga OnePRS Growth Fund: ROI: 3.4%, IRR: 9.1%

2. Premature to say anything because PRS is very new. Most of the PRS funds age is roughly 3 years top!

You can always pull the fund fact sheet or its performance table for analysis.

URL: http://www.fundsupermart.com.my/main/fundi...number=MYHPRSMF

Its to-date annualized return since inception: 6.8%

Its to-date cumulative return since inception: 14.1%

Since PRS fund is meant for long term, you won't want to be bothered by short term volatility.

PRS funds performance data...from PPA
http://www.ppa.my/getting-started/funds-re...nd-performance/

just an added note:
Investment involves risk. The price of securities may go down as well as up, and under certain circumstances an investor may sustain a total or substantial loss of investment.
Past performance is not necessarily indicative of the future or likely performance of the fund. Investors should read the relevant fund's prospectus for details before making any investment decision.
An Investor should make an appraisal of the risks involved in investing in these products and should consult their own independent and professional advisors, to ensure that any decision made is suitable with regards to their circumstances and financial position. icon_rolleyes.gif

actually i believe the tax relief is the incentive to encourage more savings/investment.

PRS fund managers are some of the best fund houses already. really can't expect it to perform that bad.

in a way, it is. i guess its win win situations. d public can invest, meanwhile d scheme can kick start.

imho, its hard to say. dats y d 10years period is crucial. its a vry vry long journey. d 1st batch results onli will noe after 10years where it will no longer depends on tax relief.

if u see d bulk of d PRS invesment been done, n using d normal PRS Funds Selection Option http://www.ppa.my/prs/about-prs/prs-providers-funds-option/ we can gauge most investor is at wat age. something to ponder..
