Linear gun tank vs GINN in ep1 of Stargazer is not bad though. Another exciting duel would be Heavyarms vs Tallgeese in Antartica...

To be honest, I prefer Heero to God Tomato. I used to dislike Heero due to his monotonous robotic personality, but when you analyse his character and his background, you will slowly appreciate how he is portrayed. Heero is actually more human than Trowa, now Trowa is the ultimate terminator with absolutely no feelings at all. At least Heero showed emotions towards Relena at the end.

Kira was much more enjoyable in the beginning of GS... but it went downhill when he realised that he could play GOD towards the end of GS, and eventually evolved into God Tomato in GSD.

Duo is the best main character in GW. Cheeky he might be, but he has a dark past which he is trying to hide under his ever smiling face and goofy character. Read episode Zero of GW, or just wiki for his background to find out. Quatre is too wimpy, while WuFei is insane with his quest for honour.

I wish the newer gundam series would include more details about the main character's background. GSD, despite having loads of crap inside, have characters which had the potential to be elaborated, eg the relationship between Gilbert and Talia, Heine, and most importantly the enigmatic Rey.

I actually don't like the WZC with it's angel wings. For me, angel wings are very fake. I can accept bird-like wings of the V2 since it's the Minovsky particles thingy that are shaped like wings, but feathers? HUH?

Ok, to be fair, the explanation for the wings are little thruster verniers, but I still feel weird about it.

I didn't really like Endless Waltz. The story was too simple, and the part where the Serpents fought the gundams were too fake. Millions of bullets were shooting at the gundams but non penetrated the armor. Oh well, even the in GW series this problem persisted. Otherwise Heero would have been killed by Zech's beam sabre in the Antarctica fight. The fight between Altron and Heero's Leo was good though, but WZC and Altron's fight was MEH... give up fighting halfway, and sink to the sea WTF?

GW's mecha designs are unique, but somewhat impractical. Let's put aside the godly Wing. Deathscythe, Shenlong, and Sandrock were pure melee mechas, while Heavyarms is a long range shooter. And they never fought together to complement each other. And Epyon is a joke even though 30m beam sabre is WOOT !! No ranged weapons at all... A bunch of long range snipers would had killed it easily if not for the plot armor.

My favourite suit would be the Tallgeese. It's obsolete, yet totally kicked ass. I seriously loathe WMDs like the Wing's Buster rifle or TG3's Mega Cannon... Good old shell shooting DoberGun rocks !!

Phase shift aint godly either. A huge enough force will still be able to damage the mecha, as shown with Freedom's head when it got twacked by the druggies.

About the Strike... well, it HAD to be dummified to show how "good" SF is... this is Fukuda's style... dummify everyone else to show how powerful a new mecha is. Even for IJ... it ain't much improvement over the old Justice, just additional beams sabres from every orifice... yet it pwned everyone.

Hell with GSD and Tomato God... Whole of GSD can't even showcase a good choreographed fight....

The color of the Phase shift is supposed to be a decoration

OK, according to GSD.... The episode where Tomato asks the Archangel's engineer to configure Cagali's Strike Rouge for him... Tomato's Strike appears blue-white-red because of variation in the Phase Shift strength. It seems that the blue-red-white scheme has a stronger (or was it weaker? not sure) Phase Shift than the Rouge.

In my interpretation... BULLSHIT... Tomato can't bear to pilot a pink robot, so he decides to change the color....

One thing though, I don't understand why EA's newer mechas never utilise the Trans Phase Shift which is supposed to be more efficient and more energy saving. Stupid EA... got new technology also dunno how to use.

Same case with ZAFT. Where did the Nuclear Stampeder go? Why wasn't it used in the final battles? It owned everyone early in the series. Oh I forgot... Tomato should pwn everyone, so there is no space for Stampeder...

Beam weapons in AU are indeed godly. Twin Buster Rifle... Mega Cannon... Even gigantic Epyon beam sword... All of them destroy colonies in a blink of an eye.

At least it is better than dragoon spam by Tomato... Even Nu gundam doesn't spam despite having much superior funnel technology.

^And how does the lighter colors help with the speed? I forgot what Tomato demanded back in the episode, maybe anyone who has the series can check it... It should be the ep where the infamous SF gets its stupid intro.

Seriously, I can accept the bullshit explanation if the color of the armor does affect the strength of the phase shift. Since Phase Shift is an energy sapping technology, the pilot should be given the option of selecting a strength (hence color) that would suit his/her battle style. Eg: Maybe a melee fighter would need more armor to protect from point blank blasts.

However, if that is the case, why do different mechas have different colors? I mean let's say Strike and Duel. Both are assault mechas so they should probably use similar strengths of Phase Shift... That means the Duel should have the same colors as the Strike

Anyway, different colors should never affect the speed of the mecha

Anyway... The colors are just decoration... Meh...

For CE specifically GSD, I really loathe the lack of innovative technology. Whereas in UC, we could follow the development of technology throughout the timeline. It started off with the normal RX78, later developed 360 degree screen, psychommu, psychoframe, bio sensor, reverse biosensor, biocomputer bla bla. OK, although some of them are really bullshit, but at least you can see the technological progress coupled with explanations. CE... Besides the huge improvement in newer mechas, eg NJC, Aimbot; these gimmicks were never widely utilised in the mechas apart from SF and IJ. EA's grunts should have used Trans Phase Shift, while the ZAKUs could have shared Aimbot tech. Don't even get me started on Tomato's developing newtype abilities... Newtypes shouldn't exist in CE.... Hmph....

Coz Kira is supposed to be CE's Amuro, while Athrun is supposed to be Char. Sad to say both of them failed to live up to the predecessor's fame.

Imagine Char shouting Amuro's name with affection when he was shot down... YUCKS... Athrun didn't even give a hoot when his gf was shot down, yet screamed like a baby when Shinn took down Freedom

Wrong info again... Phase Shift protects against physical attacks, ie bullets, punches, solid blades and explosions, but beams pierce through phase shift easily. Beams can only be stopped by anti-beam coating (like shields) or well, beams themselves. Oh yeah, don't forget the godly PLOT ARMOR too.

Gaia? No official info shows that it is any faster than the other mechas, we can only assume that it is lightning quick in its doggie mode. Still it got kicked by Luna's lumbersome ZAKU in space. All major mechas is GSD are moving at lightspeed, eg Destiny and SF... VERY FAKE...

Even V2, supposedly the fastest accelerating gundam in UC didn't fly that fast in battle. In fact, with all the arsenal V2 has, it still faced difficulties when fighting the BESPA grunts, especially when it is outnumbered or ambushed.

V2 rocks... Too bad it didn't showcase much of its awesome weaponry.

Why didn't any of the CE mechas trade punches? Sazabi and Nu got into a brawl, while Victory loved using karate kicks

Well, let's put aside the beam spams in CE. Even in duelling, CE mechas, especially main characters, tend to do it this way:

Pilot X: Y !!! ARRRGGGHHH
Pilot Y: X !!! YEAHHHHHHH

X mecha flies towards Y, and vice versa.

Clashing of sabres ONCE... yes, ONCE....

X and Y are rebounded miles away due to the impact of the sabre clash.

Pilot X: thrash talk for 1 minute
Pilot Y: flashback... for 5 minutes

repeats clashing as mentioned above

within one second, X chops off Y's arm (or stab cockpit)....

THE END...

WTF? This kind of duelling? tsk tsk tsk... Only Freedom vs Impulse avoided ending up this way, but that was because Freedom had to lose.

But the Sazabi got thrashed too easily... Two hooks from Nu, one tug and the wires all patah liao... and Char had to eject. Still a good rough brawl though...

Man, Char is really suffering from baddie syndrome, where he MUST get twacked by the protagonist Amuro no matter how good he is portrayed. Wait, that's not correct... His Hyaku got pwned by megamad newtype psychos Paptimus and Haman too...

Poor Char... At least his GW spawn Miliardo owned more units...
