I prefer the usage of the stock freedom as a basic design for the SF... so I can hate the SF more And avoid the disappointment of viewing kickass Nu gundam being insulted (like how Akatsuki insulted HyakuShiki )

Anyway, no one really knows what happened to the supposed Nu Freedom. There wasn't even a complete lineart of the NuFreedom AFAIK, only a simple sketch of the head. Then it changed the name into Super Freedom and ended up with Strike Freedom.

Same case with IJ... initially it was named Knight Justice... later into Infinite Justice... And I thought they would name it Aegis Justice YUCKS...

Forget about the hilarious naming of CE gundams... LEGEND? DESTROY? DUH... Providence sounds so badass, and they named its spawn as LEGEND? OMG... Might as well use back numericals... F91... macam fighter jet

Destiny was a good design, if only they threw away the beam cannon and the large sword from the backpack. A simple winged backpack spewing sparkling radioactive rays would be so menacing... The two weapons simply got in the way of the streamlined design. I never attach the weapons to the backpack of my 1/100 Destiny, only the wings. A lot of people complained about Destiny's weakness of requiring arms to operate the weapons. Seriously, if you are a good pilot, you wouldn't get your arms blown off anyway.

And who the heck in the original UC was armed to the teeth like SF? MKII and Hyaku kicked ass with bazooka shells and beam rifles. Even RX78 spun hammers for fun... What tactics or skill do you need when you have an MS armed with a whole arsenal of weapons?

Kira Tomato stole everything from everyone in CE.... tummy cannon... providence dragoons... buster's trademark combining guns... Shinn's status as main character... Destiny's pose for the opening scene.... Oh hell.... DIE SF... DIE !!

Even IJ... I loved the design when it first came out... Then hated it immediately because they corrupted the original idea of the Justice by making it into a melee suit. The original Justice was never a melee fighter, it was only a close combat machine with tons of short range vulcans. Of course, the lifter was considered as a gigantic dragoon. The IJ? They stuck beam sabres to every possible orifice, making it look like a porcupine. I understand the need for shin blades, but I would prefer it to protrude from the feet like Aegis. Speaking of beams, IJ only used the normal double beam sabre... No grappling hook... even the beam lance from the shield was not fully utilised... And I don't see the sense of having beam sabres on the lifter... Lifter should fight from the distance, providing cover when IJ moves in for the slash. So it should have more beam cannons, shouldn't it?

As for your comments on Akatsuki... Now you know why I consider it an insult to Hyaku... I still refuse to acknowlege the existence and purpose of the Akatsuki...

Yeah... slapping characters are very common in gundam Shinn got slapped and even punched. Usso got the same treatment too. No need to mention about Kamille throwing punches here and there... Bright-slapping too.

Forget about Shinn's grunt slaying... If grunts were the size of Jupiter he'd chop them easily too. CE does not respect grunts. At all. Where are all the Jenices, Gun-Zs, Shokews, Zakus when you need them?

Don't get me wrong... I LOVE RED MECHAs... Seriously. Even more than the traditional red-white-blue-yellow color scheme. Did you miss out on our discussion about horny mechas? Most of them were RED !!

About Destiny's armaments... The large antiship sword is a must, as Shinn got his trademark chop chop using the Sword Impulse. His greatest victory over Freedom was also completed with the Excaliburs. I just wished he had gotten Epyon-style great swords...

Epyon is mad... 30m beam sabre... totally wacko.

That's why Destiny needs gigantic beam swords so that it won't be broken so easily.

Plot Battery... Anything with "Nuclear" in GSD is virtually indestructible... Never runs out of power... Never gets pwned... Meh...

Now you wonder why Destiny and Legend didn't get nuclear engines even though NJC is strictly a ZAFT technology... Because they cannot be stronger than god himself... Go die GSD...

Let's see:

Sazabi = funnels, beam sabre + tomahawk, shotgun, missles, waist cannon

Nu = funnels, beam sabres, rifle, bazooka, missiles

Roughly the same armaments. But of course, the Nu has the funnel shield that covers the entire MS. Well, at least it is not as POWAHFUL nor over-abused as the Akatsuki's which can block beams, positrons, nukes, curses, god's wraith, zeus' lightning bla bla.

I don't really like the Nightingale... It looks like a fat insect with chicken legs and a gigantic penis protruding out from the groin. Not forgetting the little arms that stick out of the phallic structure. Sazabi is better looking, at least it looks humanoid.

I prefer Nu to Hi-Nu as well. Hi-Nu's wings look too surreal (like Freedom, WZC) and the two fuel tanks ruins the balance and asymmetry of the design.

About the issue of beam sabres clashing... There's nothing wrong with it. Gundam physics mentioned the usage of electromagnetic fields to control whatever Minovsky particles of energy bla bla... So when they clash, it's probably the conflict between two magnetic fields which would repel like magnets of the same pole.

Maybe. I'm not sure about that too. Fictional physics don't need much explanation either

Speaking of which, what about Akatsuki's bling? It blocks everything, except beam sabres? WTF? Aren't beam sabres similar to beam rifles? If it can block rifle shots, why can't it block sabres? Die... Akatsuki... DIE !!

Last but not least, Kira vs Amuro. An obvious victory for Kira.
Kira will not die even if you chop off his head and dissect his entire body. Or blow a nuke in front of him. Or stab him with beam sabres. Or electrocute him. He will only die if the fanboys and fangirls let him.

Ok, crap aside, Amuro is the better pilot. Not only he fights, he uses tactics and even inventive ways to win. I am still in awe about his crashing of the Asshimar. Now who the hell will stop an enemy like that? (Probably the psychos of GW ) Kira would probably cry and run away if he had no mobile suit around. And his ownage in an outdated Rick Dias. Kira couldn't do shit with Strike and almost got his strike destroyed. Of course, anything must be made crappy to emphasise the strength of SF

Ok, GSD-hate mode off.

To be fair, GS's Kira is more similar to Amuro where he uses tricks to win a fight, rather than boring beam spams.

Providence is the strongest mecha in GS (MSVs aside). A Freedom + Meteor got owned so hard that it almost lost the fight. Freedom got the head chopped off, the legs blown off, and also one arm. Providence only lost an arm.

About the weight issue of beam sabres... No one really knows, except Professor Minovsky Nah... It shouldn't really have significant weight because it's just magnetic field with molecule-sized particles of energy. So the beam boomerang is actually crappy as only the handle has weight, hence it wouldn't have been able to fly in in a curved projectory like a real boomerang does.

Stargazer was not pointless. To BANDAI, it was a gimmick to sell more models. For us, it was a breeze, a breathe of fresh air from the horrible GSD crap. As mentioned before, 3 episodes of OVA are already so much better than a full 50 eps, this shows how horrible Fukuda and his production team was.

Girty Lue was wasted throughout the series. It would be cool to see how a mirage-colloid coated battleship sqaure off with the most advanced ZAFT flagship. But somehow Archangel decides to come out and play the role as God's Chariot. Ok, I don't want to go into GSD bashing mode.

Stargazer's story has potential to become a longer OVA. Maybe a 10 episode mini series. There are still many unexplained parts, undeveloped characters, and of course Stargazer's actual purpose. We all know it is for deep space exploration, maybe it could really wander off beyond the Solar System into the deep unknown.

And a tank taking on a mecha, how cool was that? 2nd episode was only good because of Sven's flashback. I hated the acrobatic moves of Noir, it is so FAKE... 3rd ep? They could have done better...

I know... but it'll be good to see a longer OVA... kinda like 0080 type... sometimes 2 hour movie is a bit rushed. The beginning part of CCA is very abrupt, especially the announcement of Char's plot to drop the asteroid.

The CCA movie doesn't explain much about Beltorchika anway....
And it would be cool to see animated HiNu and bug-like Nightingale.... Imagine while duelling in melee, the Nightingale suddenly extends its groin arms to attack, erm... HiNu's groin cubit all the wires to the legs...

Ah... maybe they could combine CCA and Beltorchika's children into an OVA... so start with Sazabi and Nu as the unfinished version, and later use HiNu and Nightingale in the final showdown...

Meh... I don't think Sunrise will want to do that anyway... Otherwise we'd have gotten our F91 series already.... They only want to milk more out of CE

Just finished watching 0080... Very nice indeed. Not much action, but the storyline was touching and the overall feel was heartwarming. Alfred reminds me of my childhood times, when I will start to imagine myself as a jet pilot and make silly machine gun and missile noises

Surprisingly for an old anime, the animation quality was top notch. I'm not sure whether my version was a touched up version or some sort, but apparently, the illustrations and colours were even more vibrant than CCA and F91... Makes me think why didn't Fukuda, with current technology and huge budget, do a better job

My only complaints were the over-simple way of Kampfer's defeat. After owning every GM, it was knocked out by Alex's first attack. And why did Bernie had to die? Hmph...

I liked 0080 for its simplicity. It's just a normal story involving a kid, not much action involved, and virtually no political debates or conflicting issues. However, it is the emotional aspect of the story that attracts me.

From the character Alfred, I see a lot of innocence that is in contrast with war. I like the way his character is portrayed, eg he thinks that whatever he does is "cool" and "mature", yet he never realises the naivety of his actions until the very end. It's similar to kids nowadays, who think that they are mature enough to do anything they want when in reality they are still a bunch of children who has never seen the real society before.

I do agree that the plot would be better had Bernie and Christina found out their true identities. There is a budding romance between the both of them which was never fully developed (due to the short OVA).

I thought it was a good idea not to include newtypes in the story. Newtypes tend to behave like Jedis, trusting their instincts at all times (which normally proves to be correct if they are the protagonists). However it is good to see oldtypes struggling with internal conflicts eg Bernie at the very end.

To be honest, I enjoyed 0080 because I didn't have much expectations for it. Although it would be better had there been more action scenes. I didn't see Alex's beam SMG in action, and the Kampfer simply got pwned too easily. That's a horribly choreographed duel. Even the Alex vs Zaku was better, at least we see heat axe chop chop action.

New CE.... allow me to use a harsh word... KIRA CAN GO FK OFF !! First become EA... then become Orb Renegade... now become ZAFT... next go cabar God and rule the universe.... WTF?
