@angelictears
i'd like to try your Custom ROM. my question is...does it support EXT4 File System? coz when i convert my EXT3 FS to EXT4 with Ed Ubuntu Kernel # 3 the SD-EXT Partition cannot be mounted. the Overclocking features with ED Kernel # 3 is the same with CML Fix #6 is very remarkable Quadrant Scores compare with PJ Kernel. if i set and overclock PJ Kernel to 1.2GHz i can only get 3K plus Quadrant Score. but if i use CML and ED Kernel overclock to 787 MHz i can go as high 4K plus Quadrant Score. what i really like with PJ Kernel is...it can recognize my EXT4 Partition but the overclocking features is not that good even if i set it as high as 1.2GHZ. Thank you very much! and More Power To You! is your Rom MYGingerB from the latest Cyanogen Stable Build or from the latest nightly build 228? This post has been edited by z71: Oct 18 2011, 05:07 PM |

Cool QUOTE(z71 @ Oct 18 2011, 05:04 PM) @angelictears My Rom does support EXT4 by default, but the support depends on the kernel setting, most modern kernel does support EXT4, for example Edgar's Ubuntu #3 (Same used in CM7 EAv6) , SuperAOSP and etc. You can see which kernel suits you best with mygingerb. Note that 1.0.3 uses SuperAOSP as default kernel. i'd like to try your Custom ROM. my question is...does it support EXT4 File System? coz when i convert my EXT3 FS to EXT4 with Ed Ubuntu Kernel # 3 the SD-EXT Partition cannot be mounted. the Overclocking features with ED Kernel # 3 is the same with CML Fix #6 is very remarkable Quadrant Scores compare with PJ Kernel. if i set and overclock PJ Kernel to 1.2GHz i can only get 3K plus Quadrant Score. but if i use CML and ED Kernel overclock to 787 MHz i can go as high 4K plus Quadrant Score. what i really like with PJ Kernel is...it can recognize my EXT4 Partition but the overclocking features is not that good even if i set it as high as 1.2GHZ. As for the 2nd question, Mygingerb are based on the latest CM7.1.0 source code (not sure if the code are stable or nightly), from the Cyanogenmod z71 github. Coded and Compiled from a ubuntu 10.10 32bit environment with eclipse (with Java Development Kit 6) as IDE. |

For users who don't want full format, you can do flashing without wiping data, but cache and dalvik cache wipe is a must, optionally battery stat wipe are also recommended. Note that I will not guarantee the stability and/or instability of the rom installing it without data wipe.
The best way to install it is to back up all important apps with titanium backup and flash mygingerb via recovery mode and wipe data (factory reset), wipe cache and dalvik cache wipe , then restore your via titanium backup. |

Ah, Edgar ubuntu #3 kernel does perform slightly slower in Quadrant benchmark, try overclock it a bit, 680+mhz does ok imo. Added on October 20, 2011, 5:50 pm waiting with u bro.. I myself using SuperAOSP 8.6 now for better performance, better overclock-to-performance gain ratio and battery. But, I can say that overall usage experience on both kernel are not that different. Almost both of them give identical performance in UI and games. So yeah, aside from benchmark, try each kernel for everyday usage. |
