Q : Why is my pump running intermittently while there is nobody using water? Is my pump faulty?

A : Most likely there is a minor leak in the pipeline.
1) Could be pipes in the wall
2) Could be flexible hose connection
3) Could be WC infill valve faulty and etc etc

to identify which toilet is giving the problem, turn off all the stopvalve in the bathrooms and turn it 1 by 1 to identify which bathroom is leaking

Don't remind me, after i install the water pump then i notice the garden pipe was leaking

I replaced my Grundfos with this Teral from zheilwane i think 2 years ago. Happy with the recommendation so far. I feel it works just as well as Grundfos without the premier pricing.

My Grundfos died on me on year 3-4, after dismantling, found out it was fuse problem and could have been repaired for around few hundred if DIY.

My Teral works equally well , I have it connected to a power switch where I off it when no one is using. Theres a leak in the house and the motor do get turn on and off every 15 mins if I forget to off the switch.

thanks bro, japanese motor are always famous for durability and performance, teral is the only pump really originate from japan, definitely a good choice smile.gif

most brands so called Japan technology are actually CHINA OEM and nothing to do with JAPAN. Just google on the brands, if u cant find their company in japan then is malaysia brand OEM from china. Dont expect those OEM to be same level as TERAL  smile.gif

My Grundfos in current house runs for 10 years and no problem. The new house is already 6 years and ok. It is supposed to be one of the reliable one. People buy this one because they really last and reliable

You threw it away because you are saving service call money from Grundfos? Fuse problem happened for many electrical appliance. The fuse could have saved the appliance from other damage

If DIY. you need search around youtube to study the common water pump troubleshooting and repair. It may takes more than 10 hours. Then, need to find parts from online Shopee, Lazada, Taobao etc.
As for me, i will change brand new one and my faulty dismantled one, i will fix DIY slowly (circuit board, bearings, etc). If fuse, capacitor, pressure switch... it's on the spot, no need to buy new one. Water pump is old technology and Chinese branded one will do fine, no need expensive Grundos.

Sharing here.

Live in an apartment at 20th floor. It's 22 floor apartment.
Water pressure on top few floors are weak

2 bathrooms.
Each having 1 pipe input, supplying to 4 taps sequentially. (wash basin, wall tap, toilet bowl and shower tap)

Dry kitchen 1 tap
Wet kitchen 3 tap (2 sink, 1 washing machine)

Bought Grundfos Scala 2 @ RM1700 from Lazada.

It's very quiet! Neighbors don't even know my pump exist.

Compared to many neighbours' pump where I know when they are taking shower. brows.gif

As Scala2 is an inverter pump, I was expecting water pressure to build up gradually when I turn on tap.
I was pleasantly surprised as water pressure is constant the moment I turn on my tap.
Seems like Scala2 had build up pressure inside the pump before you use.

All taps now have very good pressure.
Toilet bowl got refilled very quickly, so less time to wait between flushes.

Only slight pressure drop at bathroom when I turn on ALL the 4 taps.
There is no way the Scala2 sensor can sense the 4 taps as it only sees pressure from only 1 pipe.

Lastly, I am only setting the pressure at level 3 of 10.
Initial test at 10 of 10 appears to have "clear up" the pipes.
Now even not running the pump, water pressure is high than before installation.

I have also got the plumber to install by-pass in case I need to take down the pump for maintenance.

Great share, I'm eyeing one for my unit as well. I think this is the only inverter model pump in the market right now for home-users. May I know what size and material of pipe you use for connection to the pump?

I am not too sure about the material.

However, as it's connected to the mains from the meter, the size over there is 1".

Installer had been considerate to use some rubber looking flexi hose, and he kept the connection to the pump with flexi as well.

If you look at the 3rd picture in my post, other than from the mains 1", after the by pass set up, it's the rubber like hose.

Could you share with me how much it cost you to install? And the installer's contact if your location is in Klang Valley? Many thanks!

I have to tell you this installer is not cheap, easily double or more than what you normally get quoted by others.

Reason I engaged him is because of his HSE mindset and compliance, especially working at height, that requires safety harness.

I once have an aircond installer climb outside my apartment,
sitting on the air cond compressor suspending 20 floor above, without any safety harness!
I had to fire them immediately.

My original installation schematic is to connect at meter which is located at void deck of the apartment,
it's a 20 floor drop, if you are not careful!

The apartment management does not have the piping schematic, so we all are doing guess work on how the main pipe enters the apartment.

Fun part is, he accidentally found the main inlet on the wall, as location no one would expect it to be.. hahahaha..

So that save him trouble to go outside and do work at height.

Hence I got some discount from his original quote.

He is also very professional with his work, hence he is highly booked in spite of his higher than normal price.

If you are ready for it, then tell me, I will send you his contact.

Which fuse? On the plug? As far as i know they dont have any other fuses except at the 3 pin plug where you connect to the socket, that itself wont cost a few hundred to replace. If diy then maybe rm5 or less.if u ask some electrician maybe rm80-120. Depending on who and where you are located. As far as I know grundfos has their service helpline. If there are no issues whatsoever there is no charges for it. They will come to your house and inspect and inform you or any issues or faulty hardware.

Material of the pipe seems like HDPE(commonly known as poly pipe) pipe and PVC pipe. That's the easiest to use and install.
