For those who are planning to buy Deka Ceiling Fan 60", let me share with you my experience.
I bought all 6 Deka Ceiling Fan 1.5 years back, Year 2013. Today, 7 April 2014- they were all not working.
My whole house exudes badly burnt motor smell and we're choking at home.

I thought it was the aircond that was burnt or the air purifier got electrical shocks and turned off all of them and open up all the windows to air out the badly burnt smell. We're on stand by with fire extinguishers in case there's some electrical sparks somewhere.

After half an hour, the smell as still bad, when I checked on the fan, it was not working. I thought it should turn on the fan so air out the place. When I pressed the remote control speed 1,2,3 there's a normal 'toot' sound but the fan isn't moving. I waited because usually when you press Speed 1, you have to wait for 3-5 seconds for the fan blade to start spinning. Somehow, everyone came to check what was amissed and finally can pin point to the DEKA fan not working anymore.

Can't believe that this fan failed so quickly. My KDK fans without Remote Control have been spinning daily for the last 15 years without fail. So for those of you who're getting Ceiling fans in bulk for your new house of something, I spent this time to alert you of what would happen. Buyers aware.

Either duds with faulty pcb or motor or wire gauged too strongly for fan ie letting higher current than fan able to take or wiring too weak to handle current demand for fan that affected its electronics.

my Deka X5 ceiling fan for my car porch failed after about 2 years. beeping nonstop, and can't spin properly - spin up, stop, spin up, stop. I only use it when I'm washing car etc.

After checking with Deka support, it could be a capacitor malfunction, and the part could cost anything from RM5-RM35, depends, and the service charge is RM40 per trip, weekdays only. Now, I think I'll just replace it with a Panasonic or KDK, as all my other fans are Pana/KDK, with much higher usage and zero issues.

I'm using Deka Sphere. Sometimes it will just turn off suddenly by itself, after a "beep". And sometimes, when I'm using remote control on my TV/ bluray, it will suddenly "beep" and turn off. Something wrong with the infrared sensor?

No.... don't go for DEKA, spend a bit more for KDK or Panasonic
5 blades is about RM284 and 3 blades with modulator is only RM131, price from Houses Lighting puchong. You will regret if you buy Deka ones, price justify quality for fans..

I was using Deka Ceiling Fan more than 5 years. So far got facing a minor problem like remote doesn't work. Then just call up for on site services to replace a parts. Sometime buying thing is depends on luck. If you are lucky person you must believe yourself.

For my new house I also prefer Deka. The reason I still perfer Deka because Deka Ceiling Fan got many design I think can match your modern house.

Deka also wins a superbrand 2013. Earning money is not easy....Hope you buy a valueable products.

Yes, I also have been using Deka fan for about 5 years, replaced the remote due to battery leak for RM15 and recently called for service to replace the rubber bushing due to noise but the service guy recommended to replace the PCB board as well due to age factor. All in less than RM 50 for the second service, compared to our Panasonic 2 year old fan is having humming sound when run on speed 1 or 2. So far quite satisfied with Deka after sales support.

my experience with deka, euro-uno, kdk and panasonic.

deka - the fan is acting up after 6 months, sometimes it just refuse to spin, even the beep sound is there. sometimes it is working fine. sometimes it just stop after a while.

euro-uno - the fan motor is gone after 2 years. totally cannot spin anymore.

both kdk and panasonic is still working great.

after reading a bit here and there and w the recent posting on voltage dip/sag, I wonder if the phenomenon adequately explains why there's such a hit and miss with fans that uses remote control or electronics.

I regret buying this fans, less than 6months I had two failures and service support hopeless in Penang. I was conned about the quality and service support and replaced all my home ageing old fans which were working for more then 15 years except noisy quacks. my fan down for the second time waiting more than two weeks for the technicians. Strongly recommend to go for reputable brands.

I have a feeling that this guy either works for elegant lighting or deka. Give address, email and phone number. There are so many designer fans out there like elm ark and alpha with proven success. Why must I choose deka?

I used Panasonic 4 blades remote ceiling fan. After 5 years, remote failed, replace PCB by Panasonic at RM120 total.

After 1 year, remote failed again. This time, the fan spinning is getting slower and make noise. If ask for service sure need to replace PCB, motor, bushing etc. Not worth it.

Now I'm thinking to replace with regulated type. Give up with remote type already.

i go electrical shop and they intro me this Deka X9N model but i cant find this fan on their website. Anyone use this fan b4? 5 blades and 4 speed, compare with KDK 4 blades and 3 speeds one, this Deka wind is much stronger. At first went in and look at KDK and Pana one but the wind really hopeless, that's the reason i take a look at Deka...powerful wind. But the experience shared here make me think think think

Fan installation is very straight forward, I've personally installed ceiling fan myself. After reading so many bad reviews from Deka, I'm going for Panasonic.

Bought my first Deka product - Deka Baby G ceiling fan and it failed after 2 months, still under waranty of course and technician came to fix it, change the black board shape thing. I think I should stick to Panasonic & KDK.

I have 3 Deka fans bought earlier this year. Still working great.

Get the ones minimum 4-blades ideally 5-blades. Don't get the 3-blades or fancy types that come with lights and bluetooth etc. and you will be fine.

KDK used to be very reliable back in the good old days, 30 years ago but it seems that quality is a bit down now, according to the Deka shop owner. I guess shops which carry KDK will also say the same thing about Deka.

DEKA SUCKS

The ceiling fan stopped working in less than 12 months. It costs RM100 for Deka to repair (per trip labor charge and replace motherboard). The same stupid fan stopped working now after a few months, and they are demanding the same charges again.

AND of course, it took many many repeated calls to get someone at the Service Centre to pick up the phone

STOPPED BUYING DEKA , IT SUCKS.

Sounds like the issue is with the installation instead of the fan itself?

installation issue definitely affect whatever brand of fan, including my KDK fans (all wobbling).
I chose Deka because of its design and local dealer claim their service is good, indeed the technician in my area did response fast and came to fix my fans in 1 week time.
I bought Deka fan via 11street. After coupon discount, kinda good bargain price if compare to local dealer.

Me in Kuantan. My Wireman installed for me.

Btw. My KDK technician can't fix my KDK fan ( K14Y5-GY) wobbling issues. Don't know is fan problem or techinican's problem. Xien.

Either duds with faulty pcb or motor or wire gauged too strongly for fan ie letting higher current than fan able to take or wiring too weak to handle current demand for fan that affected its electronics.
*
We had a very similar problem with 4 fans in under one year so they were covered by warranty (in 2016). 2 more fans malfunctioned just after 1 year. When the engineer came from DEKA, he immediately knew the motherboard needed replacing so it seems like it's been a common problem.

May I ask if the SX63 is effective as normal panasonic fan? I tested one something like this model, that the wind is very weak. hardly can feel the wind.

I have deka ceiling fans too and as per the posting here they:

1) produce intermittent "crack" cracking sound when in use.

2) built quality is low for their asking price

Deka should take heed of these complaints here.

the fan damn annoying, got 'ringing' sound (vibrating center plate, (the 1 with the remote receiver) with the surrounding cover.) ranting.gif

its a metal to metal vibrating contact.. have to tape that bloody thing to dampen the noise.

Hi to those who have Deka fans, anybody has any experience that when using at the lowest speed after a few hours, there's some sort of grinding noise. The speed is not affected but there's a constant grinding noise like friction between 2 parts. Any way to solve it?

might be the bottom cover of the fan.
mine having some sort of sound like that..
have to open the bottom cover, and retighten.

the center middle cover, just need to twist it to open.
the bigger cover got 3 screws under the center middle cover
btw, this is my fan la.. but seeing ur model looks like the same design bottom part. unsure.gif

in other matter, last time i bought 2 box (4 unit fans).. and bought another single 1.
but the speed for the 1st 4 unit kinda slow than the single 1 unit i bought.

opening up the circuit, reveals that the earlier 4 unit using 450V 2.0uF starting cap.. but the latest one 500v 2.0uF.

Attached Image Attached Image

i have replace/upgraded the capacitor from 2.0uF to 2.2uF for the 4 unit 450v.

Attached Image

now the fan much more faster brows.gif

i seems u have replace the capacitor in same model.. im thinking y u need a manual to open?  hmm.gif

I was replying to some other comments on replacing the fan capacitors.

Currently, I am having some other issues with the same fan where it's vibrating. So I want to get a copy of the R8 installation manual to see how to take apart the fan so I can tighten any loose parts

ringing sound?
mine got the ringing sound.. the round bottom plate (the 1 with ir sensor) vibrating against the big motor cover. as both item made by metal.
if u want to open, just spin the bottom plate.. but not sure urs same design with me or not. unsure.gif

u can try search youtube how to open the bottom cover.
try search deka+fan+capacitor.

from there can find suitable videos.. nod.gif nod.gif

ive open mine and re-tighten all screw inside (btw, some screw too tight will vibrate hence need trial and error)

My tenant told me my deka fan is making intermittent beep and fan start stop whenever the toilet lights are turned on , so I assume the electrical wiring problem? Nothing to do with the fan right ?

Likely the start of your PCB problems. The PCB on Deka fans have extremely short lifespans. The technician replaced mine and it barely lasted a week, with its replacement dying right when the service warranty did (1 year). Just change to a different brand, it's not worth paying Deka >RM100 every year to fix the thing.

Does anyone know the problematic part on the PCB? Will changing the capacitor fix it?

Same problem with me - beeping sound randomly but especially when water heater switch is on. At first thought wiring problem, but if really fan problem then it's less headache ... phew ...

Kindly share if you found fix , because i don't have easy access to tenant place so time is gold, bcos If my place I can slowly fiddle around try tightening the neutral wire bcos some point loop same neutral might be loose or just replace fan haha thanks 😊

Hmm just read a few feedbacks and comments from other threads and Lazada - it seems possibly could be motherboard, remote sensor or motor problem. But all of them recommends if still under warranty, call Deka customer service and ask them to go and have a look, you could get free part replacement.

I'm going to give them a call and just ask them to have a look, since they are the experts in their own stuff after all laugh.gif

I have suspicions the technician used a poorly refurbished PCB as a replacement. Not like the "new" board was any good either. A permanent fix some independent electricians do is to bypass the PCB entirely and wire the motor straight to a capacitor. YMMV. And make sure they put a fuse somewhere in there. Don't start a fire.

I'm trying to DIY the bypass and the output to the motor has 6 pins which is confusing me. Board markings only note pin 1-4 as speeds (L, M, H, HH) and are fed by Live while 5 and 6 is switched by the relay (reverse direction) and goes to the 4uF capacitor which goes to a fuse and Neutral (also resistors and ground). Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the 4-speed w/ reverse fans with the the 6 pin motor input?

Hi, my DEKA ceiling fan is having a weird problem. It has speeds 1 2 and 3.Usually when I turn it on it defaults to speeed 2.One night it stops working when I turn it on but it still works if I change to speed 1 and 3 using the remote controller. The remote doesn't seem to be the problem bc I tried it on another fan of the same model and it works fine.

Any idea what the cause is? Most of what i found online is regarding the capacitor problem? I hope I can try to fix it myself during MCO lol

Most probably capacitor as only 1 speed effected..

Or might be relay, if the circuit using relay for speed selection.

Usually buzzing comes from motor not enough 'current' to turn.
Might try change capacitor 1st.. cheapest solutions if diy.

Btw, what model?

Anyone got Deka technician contact in Melaka. I have two problem with my deka ceiling fan the first problem is with the default speed 2 not working but other speed 1, 3, and 4 are working. The second problem is the remote control, I have replace the battery but the problem still persist like very hard to press the button to make it turn on no matter which button I am pressing.

Hi, so when the speed slows down, it is the problem with the capasitor? How do we change that?

BTW is this speed slowing down problem common with DEKA or any other brand as well?

Slowing motor most probably the caps broken..
Cheap solution is just to soldered out the caps and replace with same spec.
Any other brand also same.. just depends on the quality of the components..

I have no idea as well - perhaps it is an out of season model that is no longer in production but either way, got it installed last Monday and considering its price per unit, i am very satisfied.

Not bad looking as well and with 3 years warranty, should be able to give me the peace of mind.

My replaced Alpha ceiling fans "died" after close to 5 years of usage so hopefully these Dekas could last me just as long.

Faulty capacitors, common occurrence. It won't take long now for the entire fan to stop spinning entirely and then you will soon hear a buzzing sound.

You can confirm the fault (when the fan fails completely) by turning the power on and then give its fin a slight push its normal direction - it should start spinning but at a very low speed but don't let it continue or else you may fry the entire circuit board.

If you are moderately skilled in DIY then it is an easy fix for less than RM20.00 else it will be quite expensive to get a technician and with the travelling costs + workmanship + parts, you'd be better off buying a new one.

If I am not mistaken, I think i saw the exact one installed in my friend's house and yes it feels weaker and my friend complains about it being slightly less "windy" compared to his other 5 fin ceiling fans but i guess this is the trade-off for looking nice.

Designer fans like these are supposed to be used together with air-conditioners, think of it like an apparatus to circulate air.

Damn! Same thing happened to me this morning!

Luckily it happened at midnight but really strange how it broke off even when not in used...I still have another unit of this and few different models of deka fans in other rooms so you can imagine how I feel now.

One of the fan in my bedroom is also having same problem as mentioned above where it would 'beep' and restart by itself intermittently when I switch on/off other appliances. Not to mention the useless remote controls which I gave up after a few months of using and decided to buy a universal remote control instead.

Seems like all these are common problems for Deka and their QC is really questionable. 😡😡😡

EDITED: Deka called me and replaced my fans included the others affected one, so case closed.

I had the exact same model. And I had the exact same problem a few months ago.

I had the exact broken blade at the same spot.

This happened to one of my 3 fans. I contacted DEKA, and they have replaced all 3 fans for me (another model) FOC.

For the broken blade, I realized that there was some cracking sound for quite some time when I turned off the fan for few months. I never paid too much attention to that and on one morning, the blade gave way and was broken just like yours. Luckily no one was around during that time.

Bought 2 Deka DR20 ceiling fan. Works well but fan rod too short, only 6 inch. Contacted deka service centre and ordered new rod for 20 inch. It took almost 3 weeks with multiple phone calls to finally get Deka technician to come to my house. Both fans working well right now. Happy.

Ps: anyone with high ceiling house must order new rod because most Deka fan has short rod.

Deka selling point is their design. If you're looking for reliability then bettef go for KDK.

Thank you for your input but I was asking on the air flow; KDK is equally unreliable these days and not going to pay a premium for DC motor fan by Panasonic / KDK

Quite good airflow. There is 5 speed but normally second speed or third speed is already quite good.

KDK and Panasonic is still within affordable bracket. Premium price for fan would be Elmark. Deka is cheap for me and that's why I go for them, lol 😁

My room has a deka baby fan (5 blades) and it is making this annoying electric buzzing noise.

Already changed the capacitor but the issue still persist. Im guessing the motor is burnt out. Though the fan is running a bit faster..

Guess my last resort is to call the service team and get the motor replaced.

Hi all, can i know is all DEKA fan capacitor is same? My model is SX63 and been using for 2 years and last 3 months started feeling the airflow was very weak. When i use 4th power, the airflow was like the 2nd power airflow.

P/S : does anyone has guide to change the capacitor ownself?

Depends on the circuit boards. Need to take out boards, and examine the caps value.
Just now replace KdK 3 speed remote fan caps. Changed all 5 caps (3 actually degraded) 1 shot.

Hmm
All my house ceiling using deka
And I definitely have unpleasant usage with deka
Maybe probably i choose the cheap model ? Or tear wear ? Well I don’t know
Got sound after 3 years usage. Master bed. So usage will consider above average.
Another ceiling fan in medium room. Seldom usage in first 3 years and then constant usage. The speed 4 is super slow. I think motor rosak gua. Speed 1 2 3 is super little wind at all
Living room ceiling fan. Speed 3 feel like no wind.

slow speed most probably capacitor broken.
try changed capasitor 1st. its cheap fix.. around rm15-20 for 5 pcs capacitor. but need to use soldering. sweat.gif
motor seldom broken.

I am surprised this thread is still alive after so many complaints of Deka fan products. The conclusion is:

1. Deka distributor in malaysia dun care shit about customers complaint. they never responded to any threads here.
2. Dun try to make your deka fan go faster by changing the cap. Look at all the fan blades fell off pic in the earlier posting.
3. Low quality product with high price tag. stick to the reputable brand.

Thank you for your input but I was asking on the air flow; KDK is equally unreliable these days and not going to pay a premium for DC motor fan by Panasonic / KDK
*
Saw an article on the net which calculated the savings you get from a DC fan vs an AC fan.

Considering the higher price you pay for a DC fan, it would take you 7~8 yrs of 8hrs/day usage to breakeven. So currently i dont care about DC or AC, whichever suits i get...

I came here cause I was looking at Pana/KDK (kdk is under panasonic anyway) fan and my wife says they are ugly and prefer Deka...

After all the reviews here.. I think I'll stick Panasonic..

I miss National though... using their fan for 16 yrs now... zero problem .. still as strong as day 1 and zero humming/buzzing/strange sound...

Sigh I bought bayu 5 Panasonic fans during 11.11 sales last year because kdk and Panasonic seems like a more reliable brand than deka

Ultimately disappointed no cooling effect whatsoever.. other fan salesman told me is because their motor capacity matched to steel blades which is heavier but I feel is the blades do not provide sufficient air flow

At the end changed a few to alpha fans which you are able to change the downrod easily if your ceiling height is not too high..
Panasonic you can't really change the downrod unless you customise a cover for the rod

Please stay away from Panasonic until they improve

I regret buying my windless wonder of a Bayoo 4 from Pana. Do you want to take it off my hands at 30% off? laugh.gif it is hardly used, I think in its lifetime only used less than 3 weeks worth of runtime.

The 2014 unit from probably first batch was OK
Then I went to top ten to buy the windless wonder in 2018 cos project almost complete tot have it ready first
Installed in 2019 and regret till now. I already put up take down from living room to middle room to now small room still kind of windless and making horrible scratching noises even when I stripped the fan center plate naked.

Cannot be I am so noob in installing fan (this is like the fifth fan I did), the rest all OK, and cannot be all three fan hooks were flawed to such great extent.

Exposed blade being safety hazard. Proper wall fan should be made with blade guard since its running at high speed. If the blade cracking phenomena also happen to ceiling fans..means that wall fan lagi at risk.

For same price u can buy two KDK wall fan. Wind very strong and directional across the living room.

Yeah same..ended up buying Alpha AX-60 to replace a 5 blade Bayu that was windless from day 1 + humming since 3 years of age (repaired the PCB board, humming was less initially but after 1 year it became very loud). Plan to change one of my old National Remote fan that is 21 years old and just started humming recently with the AX-60 as well.

Wasn't aware there was an existing thread.
Owner of 3x unit Deka Kronos 5 blade fans here - very unreliable.

Not even 2 years of full usage, 1 fan started having loud "swooshing" noise when in use for more than a couple of minutes - managed to claim warranty, changed entire motor. A couple of months later, another unit started having the same issue :x

Doesn't seem to work either, try to pry it open with plastic card also won't budge.

Anyone got idea how to open the cover for Deka F5-4P? All the video saw on YouTube mentioned turn counter clockwise but this F5-4P doesn't turn either way.

Deka fans are useless.. never ever purchase them.

Why would it have a freaking beep function?
DID someone in the design room thought - "oh we have a remote to change speed and stuff, if fan dont beep nobody knows the function happened or not"
WOW just wow.
why in the world did i have a fan that is designed for the blind.
I dont need a beep to tell me whether the fan is on or off. i dont need a beep to tell me whether the speed is 1, 2 , or 3. all those 3 speeds are slow as f .

Now what happens when the fan just keeps beeping randomly whenever it is turned on. And at times it doesnt even turn on but keep beeping.

Lesson is = don go for fancy stuff . all these extra functions just screw things up.

Here pic of the 2 genius
https://www.thestar.com.my/news/community/2...e-with-modern-l

Yeah. plenty of other fans got this stupid function also . but i just happen to have one made by these 2 idiots.

Doesnt have led indicators for speed, so the beep to acknowledge the fan received remote signal.

Not really possible to make it permanent default unless you swap out capacitor settings between 2 and 1 biggrin.gif this makes your fan remote become 2,1,3 for the 1,2,3 buttons.

Diku fans, blade patah case all over the internet n lack of safety is my concern.
It wasn't my choice - it came with preloved home.
After I replaced them, mostly in cold storage.
For donation purpose w.r.t last year floods - I use them as spareparts junkyard..for the rubber bung and metal parts coz we have recon one National old fan with new bearing but just the hook holder got lost. Salvaged from Diku fan I have. Whilst the Diku motor still runs with krek krek, the blade already in the process of total failure (crack line is there but din patah habis, we usually run slow speed). I cannot donate unsafe product to people..anything happen I cannot live with the fact if I injured or killed someone.

Heck even the mounting bolt also big difference in size as compared to Pana or KDK.
Those two idiots even 10c-20c bolt also want to save. Its a safety item to be overspecced.
And all over the internet, DIY groups, Diku post = almost always capacitor problem. Because they use ciplak brand capacitors.

Best is please buy a proper KDK fan. laugh.gif like the KC-4GR. Very nice strong airflow. The technology is in the blade design.

Boleh pakai traditional wall fans with proper cage like Khind also OK..even if the blade spoil it won't kill a child. Khind one we (and prev owner) been using 20 years but the button switches (like those on microwave fuzzy logic era) worn out, I replaced with the KC-4GR.

Asking, will DC ceiling fan reduced/overcome the issue of fan slow down on AC ceiling fan? I see Deka DC fan is offering at a very attractive price now..

wow... seems Deka fan is really crappy.
what are other choice?

KDK design is very out-dated, it has its share of issue as well. the mother board/capacitor always give issue. it can be repair with RM 80 parts, and RM 80 workmanship

Looking at Alpha fan too,

if anyone have comment/feedback is most welcome

Most retailers are dumping these Deka fans in stock lately. So you may get good price for them now. But remember these are POS product. It is rumoured that the Deka brand will be removed from the marker and later remarket as another brand due to all the issues they have not been able to solved.

Alpha is also POS.
I only buy Elmark 188 super motor fans. They last really long and spin fast unlike crappy KDK and Alpha.

Took me a second to understand what is POS....
but yeah... Wilk avoid alpha as well.

Elmark design damn outdated leh.

and KDK will say it don't need to spin fast, slow slow also can give you lots of wind.

Hi all, I would like to know where to buy replacement remote controller for the fan. Unsure its G3 or G4... As long as it works no need to be 1-to-1 lookalike

Preferably a shop I can walk into (at Penang) and not online shop... /.\

apparently, the technician from Deka came to fix it, and it's my wireman's fault - they did not fix it properly bangwall.gif

My fan issue was that the wires were not tightened properly, so when it swivels to a certain degree, the fan will stop and beep and cannot be used for a while.

After calling Deka's technician, all good sweat.gif

Rental unit. Report: My fan was rotating at slow speed and all tutorials pointed to replace one component one board. I have replaced it and fan got high speed. However the problem of slow speed came back within one week. Any advice?

Other room, same deka fan but has some subtle noise. Any advice on what part to lubricate or check?

might be the bottom cover of the fan.
mine having some sort of sound like that..
have to open the bottom cover, and retighten.

the center middle cover, just need to twist it to open.
the bigger cover got 3 screws under the center middle cover
btw, this is my fan la.. but seeing ur model looks like the same design bottom part.  unsure.gif

in other matter, last time i bought 2 box (4 unit fans).. and bought another single 1.
but the speed for the 1st 4 unit kinda slow than the single 1 unit i bought.

opening up the circuit, reveals that the earlier 4 unit using 450V 2.0uF starting cap.. but the latest one 500v 2.0uF.

Attached Image Attached Image
i have replace/upgraded the capacitor from 2.0uF to 2.2uF for the 4 unit 450v.

Attached Image

now the fan much more faster  brows.gif

For those wish to using manual without connect the remote PCB, this is helpful. However, capacitor still needed, usually 2uF is enough. Ypu may change to 3uF to make it spin fast.

**Update correct wiring**
Red(Live) + Yellow(Speed 3) = connected
Orange(Motor Live) + Black(Neutral) + capacitor = connected
Blue(Motor neutral) + capacitor = connected

Uusally the 0.68uF capacitor also need replaced. The default value is 1uF if you check clearly in PCB, it print 1uF, 450V

Is stuck on speed 2/4. Won't get faster if I choose higher speed.

Noise: subtle nyet. Tolerable at this level but still if can get rid of it I would be happy.

This one might need soldering kit. So far the "wire" solution was easy to perform. Not really happy about DEKA fans at all.

I will stick with mainstream Japanese brands for my new place.
