QUOTE(iXora.ix @ Nov 8 2011, 04:29 PM)
I will choose B+w over Hoya because of quality. I own 2 B+w filter and hoya, definitely B+W win because of their
glass performance like no white balance change and low glare.
and also, get the new one, the nano coating smile.gif
*
Are u sure bout that? According to this lens test HOYA appears to have better UV reduction.
However, because B+W is using the premium German scotch glass thus it provides more transparency than the HOYA HD.
http://www.lenstip.com/113.4-article-UV_fi...nd_summary.html

Btw, Hoya Pro1Digital has relatively same transparency as the B+W MRC but however much harder to
clean (resource from depreview).

The new nano coating sounds cool huh. But it is also 50 dollars different comparing the B+W MRC CPL USD130.50 vs. B+W XS-PRO Digital Kaesemann MRC Nano Circular Polarizer Filter USD178.50(In Australia not sure bout Malaysia).
For 50 dollars(RM150) different, u get it slimmer and "MUCH easier to clean from "VERY EASY TO CLEAN" lol! U decide.
Price based on international seller

That link .... outdated, yet using a cheap lens which is originally already prone to flare.

Hoya won't price their product expensive than the current one which is better right ?
*
Isn't that the purpose of the test? using a lens that already prone to flare can actually emphasize the effect of the filter properly to see how well it perform. It is a filter test not lens test right? biggrin.gif

I couldn't get a better link anyway. But its a 2009 article so shouldn't be that outdated right? tongue.gif

B+W filters are always more expensive because they are using the premium scotch glass(easier to clean and high transparency) as been mentioned before. This goes the same to the Heliopian(sp?) filters.

QUOTE(Irbean @ Nov 8 2011, 09:45 PM)
bro actually ur not comparing the exact with and without nano version. U supposed compare B+W MRC CPL vs B+W MRC CPL NANO / B+W KSM CPL vs B+W KSM CPL NANO.
CPL and KSM CPL is two different type of CPL that B+W offered. Thus if u want to make the comparison, please do it equally =)

Yet still dont have the decision either go for HOYA HD or B+W XS-PRO?
*
Oh my bad, but still 34 dollars different. Btw just found out that kaesemann version filters are actually suitable for Malaysia users because of the humid weather.

Obviously biggrin.gif
To be honest, I don't recall that I read anyone that owning B+W XS-Pro claiming it is easy to clean. Never know about F-Pro though anyway. One of the most highlighted different when comparing between B+W XS-Pro and Hoya HD is that the B+W XS-Pro is much more difficult to clean than Hoya HD. Since when the B+W XS-Pro claimed can be cleaned easily?

Only thing I read about is the Nano-coat version offers easier cleaning but that only been available months earlier which is not too long ago laugh.gif
*
Lulz

FYI, B+W XS-pro and F-pro are the same. The only difference is that Xs-pro is slimmer to prevent vignetting for ultra wide angle lens. There shouldn't be any difference from ease of cleaning the filter so yes, this CLAIM that xs-pro is easy to be cleaned. Well, to be honest i never heard that xs-pro are easy to be cleaned but yet i haven't heard that it is hard to be cleaned... perhaps the 1st 1 from u if it is a genuine haha biggrin.gif

BTW, if u bought the filter prior 2011there is a chance that it could be a replica.

despite the hardness to clean xs-pro, just wipe it like a boss.
won't harm anything.

however i find the hoya hd very easy to wipe haha
*
Good to hear! cuz i ordered a HOYA HD CPL arriving this thursday =P

Actually i find this issue very subjective to personal fussiness biggrin.gif

T Dimension?

For the Hoya HD CPL, save around RM50 if compare with Shashinki price.

Not bad.

Yup, reputable HK seller for DSLR and accessories.

The new 16gb Extreme Pro UHS-1 is roughly 300 nia, the older 30mb should be less than 150 here IIRC~~"

Oh well smile.gif
*
Im not ready to spend RM300 on a memory card quite yet. Well if it really matters to what I need then i will sell it in Malaysia in sealed condition(original packaging) if the extreme pro UHS-1 is a necessity.

Mind tell me some advantages of the pro uhs-1 over the extreme HD verison?

Edit: oo T-dimension have it as well for AUD73.23 = RM234.34. I was being told that 30mb/s is for smooth enough for video recording si I just got the extreme HD version. Uhm... still whats are some major advantages? clear buffer faster or buffer will not fill up so quickly(process faster)?

Edit: uh sry i see wrong that was 45mb/s. tongue.gif

Trying my luck la.

77mm la, not much different, Honda or BMW as usual, i think will go for Honda la, since currently using Honda.

How important is CPL for landscape, if u say very important i'll get one before my Bario trip.
*
Its a definitely yes.

I reckon a 77mm HOYA HD CPL is a worth investment cause its compatible with alot popular lens like 24-70, 70-200, 17-55 etc etc thus even if u want to resell it the value remain higher.

Landscape is more to timing and location..

I've seen natural blue skies without the use of CPL..

So its down 2 your skills and a little bit of luck too smile.gif

Of course, having a CPL would not hurt.

Skills are necessary all the time lol when talking bout shooting a pictures with a DSLR.

wah cpl,
before i duno how to really take care,
summore the black coating very easy to spot scratch, wont affect the pic one.
until one day i dono how i made like 1cm of the coating torn already haha. laugh.gif

anyway, wide angle + cpl = perfect landscape combo during clear blue sky  brows.gif
*
Clear blue sky, and greener grasses, also very good for shooting portrait under sunlight to remove unwated exposure blush.gif

Problem is, the use of CPL is more common on UWAs and etc and not on tele-zoom like the 24-70, 70-200..

But of course, you can use it. No harm, no foul.
*
Well the 14-24 f/2.8 then tongue.gif

Yes, as my portrait lens as sole purpose. But I however kinda satisfied to use my 17-55 f/2.8 as portrait lens so far.
Just wonder is the improvement worth the money I am going to pay for.

QUOTE(hidden830726 @ Nov 11 2011, 11:01 AM)
I'm actually having similar enquiry with 17-55,

Food 4 thought,  instead of getting 50 1.4, how bout 85 1.4? Since, 85 kind of give u the tele length and perfect for DX.

Alternatively how is 105 2.8 vs 85 1.4 in DX. 105 give macro, while 85 give 1.4, but for portrait, which nicer?, I quite sure 85 will come out better, but by how many, if not a lot, isn't it better or more value 4 money to buy 105 instead of 85 and get macro as well?
*
I was never interested in food photography... but still sometimes I just shoot for fun keeping memories what I've cook when I am studying oversea.

I love the 85mm 1.4G but the price just beyond my reach atm. While thinking of 50mm 1.4G i am afraid that I will not be utilising it as I am kinda satisfied with my 17-55 f/2.8.

Have though of the 105mm macro 2.8 but been taken out my list because its 2.8 and im more into protrait than macro. I believe 85mm 1.4 will be better for portrait though.

Another lens im looking at is the 135mm F/2D DC. Heard its best for portrait so far.

yeah, my fren bought the 135 and has been using it for portrait ever since. He even put his 24-70 in cold storage. He own both 105 and 135 dc but prefer the 135 more.

What body ur fren using?

QUOTE(jchue73 @ Nov 11 2011, 01:52 PM)
Indeed it is. But if you're on DX body, best is to stick with the 85mm f/1.4. It's ok on FX but on DX it is too long.
*
ya thats why i thought of 85mm 1.4G hehe but totally outta my reach sad.gif
