QUOTE(Agito666 @ Oct 22 2011, 02:57 PM) RM12k is just around $4k for US consumer. While average income earner in Malaysia is RM3.3k and 2.8k dollars for US. Malaysia will never catch up with international spending power. Not to mention that electronics are generally cheaper in US as well Edit: electronic cheaper in US compared to all other countries. Was watching Lost season 4 and came across this episode where Benjamin (one of the antagonist in that season) holding a Nikon DSLR with a 70-200? Look close enough u will see the 'Nikon' on the DSLR being taped lol!
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Is that against the copyright issue? I mean if they dont tape the 'Nikon' off? Edit: the model is actually D100 + Nikon 80-200mm This post has been edited by ikki9394: Oct 22 2011, 05:07 PM |

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Oct 22 2011, 07:39 PM) Average income earner in Malaysia is RM3.3K? Wow? That's like pretty high? Wasn't it more like around RM2K? There're many still earning less than RM2K (not referring to fresh grad). I google it out lol. I reckon after that u will have to adjust it by inflation index then average it from the high income earner as well thats why u will get a higher figure. But i agree on u that alot people still earning below 2k. |

Hi all sifus,
As i've recently got my new DSLR and started to learn on how to take a good pictures, i've asked my friends out to be my testing mice haha! Ok lets get serious, I am a newbie on photography that love to shoot portraiture photos. Somehow I still feel that my pictures are missing out something... as in like not as good as what I've seen on the pictures posted here or at the PIC-A-Day thread. Here is 1 of the photo I've taken. C&C is welcomed and please advise me on what can I do to improve it. ![]() DSC_0542 by neF.c, on Flickr » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Any C&C, advise, guidance will be appreciated. Thanks in advance |

QUOTE(razuryza @ Oct 23 2011, 06:37 AM) the pic is ok.. just need to be cropped nicely (or in other word, composition could be better) Uhm... the pic was not cropped... Thing is everytime when i take a pic, I will fit my object into the viewfinder nicely(the way i think) so that I don't have to crop it later. So do I have to crop this pic?sample: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « unless u have something to show on the background, dont leave too much space on the top...sometimes u can even do tighter frame by cropping some of the forehead QUOTE(-kytz- @ Oct 23 2011, 08:37 AM) Try not to crop your subject too much. Zoom out a bit more. Also, avoid severely chopping limbs(left girl's arms). Do keep in mind to keep composition simple and get it right since you're just starting out haha! I dint zoom out more because in that pic they were sitting actually. So only shoot half body...QUOTE(0168257061 @ Oct 23 2011, 08:59 AM) I will no recommend you to shoot full body portrait with your 17-55mm f/2.8 unless your fore/background is somewhat interesting to include with Uhmm.. I had think alot before i bought this lense... thought it would be perfect for full body and half body portrait... Then what lens is good for full body portrait? |

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Oct 23 2011, 11:05 AM) Shoot half body? You're doing it wrong..that's why I say zoom out more, or frame your subjects more. Better still shoot from waist up loh I see, so I should always zoom out more and get at least more than half a body so that i can crop it into my liking in post processing? Is that what u mean?p/s: Refer to the picture posted by razurya.. |

QUOTE(geekster129 @ Oct 23 2011, 04:20 PM) I have the same remark. You could have shown more of the ladies body using the headroom on top. I think you leave too much headroom and made the pic looked a bit empty. How you crop the hands made the pic looked a bit imbalanced and not comfortable to the eyes. Psychologically speaking, the viewer might be curious about the part that is missing in the photos, they would like to see some of the hands which can contribute to the body language of your subject. I see, haha there is nothing to do with rule of third that I haven't even learnt bout it haha! Anyway I'll check it out and do more research and rules that i should bear in mind when i shoot portraits. The below pic is where I tried crop out the headroom... what do u think?Having said so, it's not definitely wrong to leave some headroom (probably you want to use the rule of third concept and put the subject's eyes on the ROT points for artistic reasons). Like the pic celciuz posted, the headroom is there but at the same time, it still looks natural, because the photo looks "complete", however, if you leave the headroom and wasted it for parts of the body which you should show, then it's not so good. cropped ![]() edited by neF.c, on Flickr before crop ![]() DSC_0542 by neF.c, on Flickr please advise |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Oct 23 2011, 05:16 PM) There is not exactly rules, as in you do this you confirm right or photo confirm nice etc. If it looks good, then its good! It all depends on you, the person behind the camera. Everyone has different style and taste, don't let those rules limit your creativity. Hi thanks for the advise. I will keep that in mind. Apart from that do u reckon any post processing is needed to enrich the colour or something?QUOTE(Agito666 @ Oct 23 2011, 05:47 PM) I bought a lenspen and a hurricane blower from ebay austrealia... QUOTE(celciuz @ Oct 23 2011, 06:43 PM) Just get a lenspen, it goes for about RM20-25 only Wow interesting! Is this consider warm colour tone as well? What sort of personal details are you looking at? Photog name, copyright etc? Those if not mistaken only available in the semi pro bodies (and also D7000). But your shooting data will always be there, shutter, aperture, etc. Post processing is subject, depends on you as well. Some like black and white, some like warm color tone, some like cold color tone, some like desaturated feel, some like saturated feel. It all depends what you want to showcase Eg, » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Or warmer tone + brownish » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « And sometimes I prefer cold tone, » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Or maybe try to toy with specific color channels, » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « My advise, keep trying Added on October 23, 2011, 6:45 pmOh and sometimes, I leave it with the original tone. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « ![]() This picture is not taken by me. Just wonder what setting should I do to get this kind of colour or it has to be done in the post processing? Btw, I like the 1 with warm and brownish tone, and the 1 with with specific color channels... This post has been edited by ikki9394: Oct 23 2011, 07:30 PM |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Oct 23 2011, 08:43 PM) This one I think just need to use warmer white balance and also increase black level or contrast kaotim. Simple. I will try it out next time... Thanks alot for the advise 5Dmk3 not important, Olympics is coming up next year. A pro level body is important. The pros won't be using 5dmk3 for Olympics ._. especially when there is the 1DX |

QUOTE(tatagal @ Oct 24 2011, 02:24 PM) Good question! I did not change any of those! I believe WB is the same! Will auto mode automatically select the picture control? So far, I have never changed and play with picture control setting yet! If we are selecting the manual mode, do you normally still play with the picture control setting for every photo you take? Isnt that the purpose of using a DSLR? settings are usually different when shooting in different kind of environment and places with different lighting. Just got my D7000 and enjoy learning how to utilize it too =) |

Hi every sifus,
Just want to ask usually camera body will have problem within 3 years or not (any problem eg: dead pixel, sensor prob, shutter etc etc that is required to be sent back to authorised service center to be fixed)? I am now still eligible to get a 3 years mack international diamond warranty for AUD 126 but unsure if I should get it as the D7000 is my first DSLR and no previous experience. It also covers any damage except lost, fire damage and stolen. Please advise This post has been edited by ikki9394: Oct 25 2011, 01:30 PM |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Oct 25 2011, 01:34 PM) Does it cover shutter as well? As in let's say D7000 is rated 150k MTBF. If yours died at 30k, then you can claim? It did not specifically mention shutter count but if it dies at before 150k should it consider as malfunction? This is the website where I get the body from and the mack warranty they provide http://www.t-dimension.com/revamp/-c-0/mac...usd-1500-p-2600 and this is the coverage summary in the mack website http://www.mackcam.com/DiamondService.htm Coverage Summary: Manufacturer Defects Impact Damage Sand/Grit Damage Accidental and Unintentional Abuse Mechanical Malfunctions Normal and Abnormal Wear and Tear 2 Free CCD Cleaning for the LIfe of the Contract (not available internationally) 1 Free Video Head Cleaning Per Year for the Life of the Contract The Service Contract may be purchased within 30 days of purchasing your product Product Replacement After 3 Consecutive Repairs for the Same Reason The diamond warranty will covers malfunctions due to liquid damage that were the result of an accident. All types of accidental damage, including liquid damage, will be covered at the discretion of Mack Camera. Edit: this is the complete description of the warranty I could get http://www.mackcam.com/servicecontracts/se...d=85&row_id=250 This post has been edited by ikki9394: Oct 25 2011, 01:54 PM |
