oh ya about the nikon rumors... what is "Anti-aliasing filter "?

hard ware or software one? XD

got sample photo?
*
Hardware, also sometimes called the "low-pass filter'. It's said to reduce "moire", but the "side-effect" is reduced sharpness.

Leica M9 doesn't have AA filter. There's also some sites which offer "mods" for some Nikon/Canon models to remove the AA filter.

The details and technical I'm not really sure; just read about it roughly. I suppose it depends what you use your camera for or what you usually shoot.

Try this:
http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/key=moire

And here:
http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/key=aliasing

I also not very familiar, perhaps other sifus can help to explain, especially those who experience it and how it affects different types of photo or real worl usage.

Wanna ask this question. When I shot something like red, purple or orange in color, the camera/ lens produced much lighter tone way off from the original. Is it common? But my brother's Sony can produce original colors.
*
Is the exposure same? It can affect the tone.
What's the picture control used in Sony and is there any adjustment?
What about your D7000? If you want more vibrant colour, you can use VIVID settings, or customize the picture control and increase vibrant and/or contrast.

Depending what you want to shoot, if objects (flowers, cars, etc), it's nice to have more vibrant colours, but if there is a person in the picture, you might not want to over-saturate or darken the skin tone.

How can we know the exact speed as they're not usually labelled on the packaging.

Cards like Ultimate X from Kingston did display "100x" but that's probably the only card I know which displays the exact speed...

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Yup, that's the problem with some card, not sure if you can see it form the packaging, else you might need to search the web.

Some displays the "mb/s" instead of the speed like "100x";
As previous celciuz already mentioned:
100X - up to 15mb/s
133X - up to 20mb/s
166X - up to 25mb/s
200X - up to 30mb/s

Well, it's concourse area afterall... how big is the place anyway... plus imagine on weekends... the place will be full like ants, I think walking will also be a problem already, how to test "properly".
And I thought got model shooting or something? Where?

How many J1 and V1 available for testing? This one need to go weekday and/or early morning if want to test; or just wait for it to be available at BTS (or other Nikon Centre).

JOKE:
Btw, where is your @ss? tongue.gif

Ask Calvin bring the D700 la, more syok to play tongue.gif or his "secret" unit which he and his roommate keep talking about tongue.gif

The event is sponsored if not hosted by Fotokem. You would be able to see a large one on the counter, "I Love Fotokem".

They do sell accessories as I asked them how much is D7000's battery cost and was quoted RM220 tongue.gif

Went there today to clean the sensor of my D7000 and the guy is very kind to clean my 17-55 altogether.

Tested the J1 and V1 too, I find the "Select the Best Image" function quite interesting biggrin.gif
*
Actually I was referring to Nikon BTS, hehe tongue.gif

Try to avoid Fotokem, their price are "expensive" and often not honest, unless you met a good sales person, or the person likes you maybe.

For Melaka, Pro Images Photography at Dataran Pahlawan. No other recommended shops already.
"Secret" unit sounds interesting biggrin.gif.

Fotokem MP (Melaka) is cut throat. Terrible pricing, but I heard the one in MV is pretty good?

Gonna bring my D700+D90+D90 (Gf's unit) for sensor cleaning.. LOL. Just to make my trip worth it tongue.gif. Actually wanted to try that V1/J1 very long jor just didn't had the chance during KLPF >_>

Next part is, whose attending the event at Time Square? With the taiwan photog, www.flickr.com/wingmanzero

I remember his id because last time when I was looking at samples for 85 f/1.4G always appear his... and he always have all the new toys from Nikon early.
*
Most Fotokem will cut throat and will tell "lies" (e.g. pretend calculate and look at their price list, then tell you that's their cost price, they only earn RM50, all this rubbish... and guess what... this is the "manager/boss" somemore. Think we're 3 year old small kid... and they're a big group of company.

Sometimes also depends on the person who serve you, sometimes they may offer you a good price straight away, but the next time you go, suddenly the price can be very "cut throat" (if they forgotten you). Like this do business, how to trust...

Another "reputable" camera shop also same, the staff actually offer very low and reasonable price, the next visit, the boss serve, the offered price is way much higher for the same item. Sometimes, really don't know what to say.

Edit: electronic cheaper in US compared to all other countries.

Average income earner in Malaysia is RM3.3K? Wow? That's like pretty high? Wasn't it more like around RM2K? There're many still earning less than RM2K (not referring to fresh grad).

Good question! I did not change any of those! I believe WB is the same! Will auto mode automatically select the picture control? So far, I have never changed and play with picture control setting yet! If we are selecting the manual mode, do you normally still play with the picture control setting for every photo you take?
*
Taken at same setting, but did the lighting changed during the 2 different shot? Different condition even same settings, can also give different colour tone.

Check the WB temperature in detail, it may be different, although slight different may not be obvious.

For Picture Control, not sure if Auto will use different PC, never really use Auto anyway; But you can always double check and share it here. tongue.gif

XZ-1 boss.  brows.gif

As with all compacts, don't hope for excellent high ISO noise control on the XZ-1. That and the video is the only downside of the XZ-1. But the f/1.8 Zuiko lens (up to f/2.5 at 112mm) is to die for. Edge sharpness excellent even at wide open. Focusing is plenty fast too. Got it because of those features.
*
Tested the X-10 in KLPF, the high ISO noise control seems pretty good; but not viewed in the PC though, just zoom in from the LCD. From the test, the noise, and detail is way better than those micro 4/3s around there, and the built quality is nice too.

imo, getting nex defeats the purpose of compact since the lens is big anyway...must as well just carry ur dslr around or buy a d3100 tongue.gif
*
Different, D3100 is much bigger; Overall, the bags to use is different. Don't know how to put this. Maybe for DSLR users, may not see this. Many people I ask, NEX is still considered easily pocketable and small and the camera bag can be small too.

DSLR will be DSLR, the size is just there; Else, there's no need for NEX, they can go for A-35, A-55, which is also very small DSLT; but the size is still different, especially for people considering it. We should see in other's point of view/shoe as well.

i think i get wrong information.... but so far how is this dslr?? i go for video purpose... as my father wanted to camcorder and me wanted camera so i choose this camera??? can the video set to low resolution, right?
*
Can use, but the usage and handling will need some practice and get used to; If used and handled correctly, can be used to create nice video.
One issue is the stability, you need to try it out and take some video to see it yourself. The lens with "VR" (Vibration Reduction) may help in video to reduce vibration but overall, you still need to learn to handle it, and also learn some basic settings and adjustment for video.
For this, those more experience can help to comment.

For stability, you can get those "grip" specially for DSLR video recording to help for stable holding; and you might also want to consider external mic for better sound/audio recording.

act, i have a limited budget,...... my budget must below rm1900....  some more i hear some sifu say need have the lens filter, the case, screen protector, etc.... these usually won give foc rite?? need buy the sd class 10 for better video if not will lag when recording....
*
Not a must but it will help to improve the audio and video quality.

The audio quality is acceptable for normal video, and it picks up ambient noise (e.g. noise, road sound, wind, etc); Depend on your demand/requirement, you can invest on the mic later (e.g. when you record video in event, say your friend's wedding and you want to hear clearly their speech or what they're talking or when taking video outdoor).

As for the video grip; try holding a DSLR and do video, you will notice the handling is different from point and shoot or camcorder, you may need some time to get used to it, and then if your lens have no "VR" (Vibration Reduction), you need really really steady hands; but the kit lens will have "VR" which should be able to help you reduce the vibration issue during video.
The Grip can help to enhance the stability when you hold the DSLR for video, moving around, doing focusing (you'll most likely want to use manual focusing instead of the auto-focus, unless you don't mind the noise and in some situation the annoying auto-focus which keeps focusing in and out.

Yes, you need at least class 6, if you want to do smooth HD video recording. Get a class 10 instead, and don't get from the shop, normally they charge you very expensive; Find out the rough price in the market, and if the shop offer you reasonable price, then only get from them, but usually they will try to earn from you here.

Lens Filter is not necessary; If you really want one, get a good one, but it will not be cheap and again, the shop will try to sell you expensive and make money out of it. It's just a piece of glass and it's not really expensive, I experience once the shop keep persuade me to get, I keep deny, then he keep lower the price I still don't want, then when paying finally, he offer me a super low price, more than 50% lower; Since it's really cheap, I just get it.

For screen protector, and those cheap stuff, then can give for free actually. Some shop even free you a cheap tripod, which you might not want to use it outdoor or in some condition. It all depends on the shop, the price they offer you and how you bargain, or if the sales person in good mood or likes you.

Vibration Reduction - to reduce vibration or reduce shake. Try hold the DSLR and take a video, you will notice the video can be very shaky without VR.

For normal point and shoot camera, you will see "IS" or other similar terms, which stands for Image Stabilizer/Stabilization; Some comes with MEGA term, you know Jap, they love boombastic terms/jargons, like VVT-i, VVT-Li, v-tec, V-tec, i-Vtec, small v BIG V, etc.
But rest assured, for camera, VR, OS, IS, etc. despite all the different naming, it all means the same thing, for image stabilization or vibration reduction.

What iz the diff between this 2?

SanDisk Extreme SDHC 16GB 200x 30MB/s for RM189.00

and

SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC 16GB 300x 45MB/s for RM189.00

The 16GB Extreme Pro seems cheap? Only RM20 difference from 8GB? But check 32GB, it's a whopping RM531... I can't remember how much I saw during previous KLPF already.

A check here, the 16GB seems should be close to RM300; The price listed in Yamiya is typo? Since the 8GB and 32GB prices are about the same...
http://list.lelong.com.my/Auc/List/List.as...d=&PriceUBound=

And here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1911015
SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-I
SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-I card 8GB @ RM165.00
SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-I card 16GB @ RM285.00
SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-I card 32GB @ RM530.00

Possible the Yamiya site type wrongly 289.00 as 189.00? tongue.gif

Also try and get it from a reputable and well known shop. Got mine at Fotokem.
*
I'd say avoid Fotokem, unless they offer you a good deal; Most of the time, they will cheat and lie to Customer, they'll do all sorts of tricks, like pretend checking their computer, or take calculator and "tok tok tok", scratch their head, look stress, then show you the price, which is still SO HIGH. Then maybe if you tell them the price you can get outside, they'll give you the shocking look and tell you, that's their cost price, maybe even show you their price list, and tell you they only earn you RM50, LOL EPIC
Then if they still want to push further they might tell you stories like outside probably giving FAKE battery, etc. all sorts of stories to convince you that their price is better and guarantee genuine.

If you feel their acting is top notch, maybe you can buy from them as a complement to their first class acting. They're sometimes even better than some local actors.

QUOTE(celciuz @ Nov 1 2011, 08:32 AM)
Even if D5100 supports the new Extreme Pro, is it capable of writing/reading at 45MB/s?

I mean, take USB3.0 for example. Not all USB 3.0 devices are able to reach the maximum speed. Some not even able to use even half of the bandwidth.
*
It supports UHS-1 and I think it should be ok. This is just the 45MB/s, and it's discontinued, replaced with 90MB/s version.

All I know is not to buy filters or other accessories from these shop, you can get a far better price from Shashinki or other online shop. Got free shipping as well (at least for Shashinki).
*
Mines seems to have good reputation, heard few good price from there, and no need bargain also, straight offer good price. I think depends on the staff also. Got once, I walk in, the guy offer a good deal on the spot, no bargaining.
The second time I walk in, the guy forgotten me, the price he offer is ridiculously high. Another one is the boss, which show off that he has a very good deal/price to offer, but in the end he do all those acting stuff. Boss somemore, how to trust. But all that was long ago "lah". Plus, they're part of a big group of companies.
