I'm sure they'll come out with an RB952G-5ac2nD or maybe an RB2012UiaS-5ac2nD. Wishful thinking.

Hope to see more interest in MikroTik here in Malaysia!

I registered but not 100% sure going or not yet. Though if I'm going, will probably cough up the USD30 for the ROS license and lunch. Worth it right?

There're a few WTS here for the Xiaomi Mini at RM120 but its LAN port is only fast ethernet.

IMHo, the best option for now with a Gigabit ethernet port is the DLink DAP-1665 RM278 on gemfive.com.my with a 30% discount = RM195.

I can get xiaomi mini router for around 90-100 inclusive of shipment. I'm thinking of getting one to run it as AP, since xiaomi mini router's default firmware doesn't support vlan tagging, and I don't have much confidence for custom firmware

It will be called RB3011UiAS-2HnD-IN (http://i.mt.lv/eu15.pdf)

btw, the license that they give, is it L4 or L5 or what?

Xiaomi Mini is good value. I was considering it when I was looking for an AC AP but the fast Ethernet port is no good if you're planning to transfer stuff from a PC. Same goes for the RB952U-5ac2nd.

The RB3000 series looks awesome 10xGb ports n USB3 but is the 1GB ram a typo? That's crazy. The RB2011 had only 128mb. That's a big jump. Not that I mind but price will probly be high.

License given at the MUM is L4 which normally sells for USD45.

But this one only 2.4Ghz, if 5Ghz should be:
RB3011UiAS-5acHnD or
RB3012UiAS-5ac2HnD

or preferably RB3012UiAS-5HacD2HnD

Just set up a Wireless Transparent Bridge using the guide in Mikrotik's Wiki.

http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Transparentl...ge_two_Networks

It's for connecting the HyppTV STB to the router. Homeplugs didn't work. Still testing. So far works pretty well.

Used 2 x RB951Ui-2HnD. About 40ft and 1 floor apart. Reduced power to keep TX/RX around -65 dBm. Tried 802.11, nstreme and NV2, all works.

Currently testing on 802.11. In what situations does one use nstreme or NV2? or for what I'm doing above, what's the best mode?

so this is what I've forgotten after the downtime at lyn that day sweat.gif

The 1gb RAM part is not a typo, https://www.roc-noc.com/pdf/RB3011/RB3011-RM.pdf
Not sure what can I do with 1gb ram for consumer usage

It will cost around RM800-900 - https://www.roc-noc.com/mikrotik/routerboar...011UiAS-RM.html

EDIT: no wonder why I've not heard of nstream and nv2 before, they are proprietary tech of Mikrotik sweat.gif
Regardless, I think that it won't work with our existing devices?

QUOTE
This implies that only Nv2 supporting and enabled devices can participate in Nv2 network.

Regular 802.11 devices will not recognize and will not be able to connect to Nv2 AP.

I've got sms working, what I meant is concatenated sms aka long sms(sms is limited to 160 chars only but with concatenated sms you can send a very long sms as one sms)

If I do go, will probably change it to a paid one. Wouldn't mind the ROS license. Can use it for the Atom 330 sitting in my drawer for the past 4 yrs.

I have no idea what a dedi is.

No plan yet, just experiment with it, I guess.

Btw, MUM Istanbul 2014 door gift was an RB951G-2HnD. Nice.

dedi = shortform of dedicated server

Indeed, RB951G has been serving me well
