Jus wan to ask. If I'm using iOS 4.3.3 now, so when the jb for ios 5 do came out, how can I update my phone to ios 5 first since once I click update in iTunes, it wil automatically update it to 5.0.1 (or newest iOS).

No jailbreak for 4s at the moment BUT the dev-team (musclenerd) has managed to dump the iPhone 4s bootrom so it's a matter of time before an UNLOCK will be out for the iPhone 4s (seems that the exploit only works for the 4s). So there is a path for unlock.

Just MAKE SURE you DO NOT update to 5.0.1, I believe all this exploit is in 5.0 (that's why the dev team is asking people not to upgrade to 5.0.1)

Be Patient and ye shall be rewarded.

Here's the Link to the news about the success of dumping the 4s baseband bootrom

Woohoo... that's great news indeed. I shall wait while using the 4S as an iPod laugh.gif

Thanks for the info and help. Much appreciated. thumbup.gif

Based on my experience in jailbreaking device. JB developers tend only implement JB on latest IOS instead of aiming for old IOS. For instance, latest IOS 5.0.1, they will go developing JB for IOS 5.0.1 instead of 5.0.

When JB is available for latest IOS. REMEMBER to update iTunes before clicking restore via iTunes.

This is usually true but Apple has been updating the firmware faster than the dev-team can handle. I believe for the iOS5 jailbreak, they found some exploit in iOS5.0 and was working on it when Apple came out with 5.0.1 due to the battery issue. Some of the exploit may have been closed by Apple as well so that was why the dev-team was recommending that people stick with 5.0 and not upgrade to 5.0.1

At least we have hope in hand rite. Chill for now man, semi untethered is gooding wert. Usually I dont install unnecessary apps. Like Seri0us, did not even search it via Cydia before. Sorry it happened on you man.

@ azraeil
You are definitely right, that is why i'm still on 5.0 lol. That was just my accumulated experience, but since dev team is not recommending an upgrade, just stay still on 5.0 first lo.

If Respring : no need to do anything, it will respring without problem
If Reboot : Boot tether via redsn0w

Better install Cydia tweaks only when you are accessible to your PC/Mac.

+1, better be near your PC/Mac if you are planning to install any Cydia Apps. You never know if a reboot is required.

I suspect the untethered jailbreak will be a userland jailbreak or something that will not require you to restore it back to 5.0

guys, i have a jb'ed iphone 4 with 4.3.3 firmware but it has loads of craps. So, i intend to restore it to original 4.3.3 since that iphone has a 4.3.3 SHSH.

be it in DFU mode or recovery mode, error 3914 keeps popping up, though i have used the latest updated tinyumbrella and untick that 'cydia on exit' something on it and run the TSS server.

what's the problem actually?

Instead of using tinyumbrella, try this guide. My guess is on incorrect host file. Refer to the link.

My friend told me that if you install certain tweaks that need to reboot, you can actually press the home button and respring. Never tested but you guys can give it a try... tongue.gif

Actually is true also. There are still lots of ppl out there are running in 4.3.3 (since this is the only untethered). If they only make it happen for 5.0, those 4.3.3 that didn't save SHSH will not get the chance to JB as well since apple is no longer signing 5.0....right.. tongue.gif rclxms.gif
