Just bought a P50U30K for 2780. One PanaShop in Sungai Buloh still has around 10 in stock for 2860 with a free neck massager.

When I first light it up, it was quite bright but dull... slowly it start to dim a little bit and then I just bump the contrast to 75 and lower the brightness by 5. Perhaps the closest looking to CRT compared to LCD TV. Its blardy heavy as well. My back is hurting...

BTW, can get into the service menu but when at the last item and press hold menu, the timer did not come out? It didnt even have the recall button on the remote, resort to my older Panasonic LCD remote.

Hello guys, need some feedback from TH-P42U30K owners.

Have you encountered any IR issues so far?(especially during gaming (PS3/360)). Personally will be using it for console gaming mostly(long hours as well) so i was wondering if this model is more prone to IR or vice versa.

Thanks.Your help would be greatly appreciated. smile.gif

Most of plasma prone to IR. You must aware by your self. Better not leave your game paused for a long period. If u notice IR, you need to wipe the screen using display scroll mode. Check at advance setting in display setting. I currently use P50U30K. IR can be wipe using that method.

Thanks for the input, yes im well aware that plasma's will always have issues with IR so im not expecting it not to have IR at all lol. But ive been getting mixed results from my research as IR seems to differ from model to model, some seem to be more prone and vice versa. So i was wondering whether the U30 sets belongs to the former or the latter.

Sad to find out WT series only have 55 inches model in Malaysia. Looks like have to choose DT series only. WT series black level should be better than DT series.

I agree, pricing is well positioned as street price will be much lower. Looks like a proper 3D with excellent blacks and performance for a 50in might be possible at a below 4K soon.

if you're not using it for PC monitor you should go for plasma.

If you don't like stretch 4:3 aspect into 16:9 and wish to watch with with side bars, go for LCD/LED.

Plasma doesn't like side bars crap. Try the wide function to maintain aspect ratio, but some bottom and top content parts be cut off.

Sounds like plasma it is for me. Thanks for the reply. For SD channel, is it true that it's better not to get the full HD, instead get the 720 so the SD (480) won't stretch that much hence will look better?

Plasma looks better in SD not because on resolution, but because the way they produce the picture you see, as well as deeper color. LCD/LED produce less saturated color, boosting color volume only makes things looks more "plastic".

Full HD plasma looks softer on the edges, 768p more crispness.

I can only see the benefit of full HD on 50 inchers up, below that .. very little differences.
