Well, really no complain on the PQ of VT20K.

The anti reflective screen filter works very well, almost no visible reflection in bright lit room.
The color, black level, brightness, motion, low picture noise level,  all blended nicely.

I think this plasma is miles better than the high end LCD, in term of motion smoothness(main point of buying a plasma), and picture noise.
Most LCD has very visible motion blur, and visible picture noise (may due to LCD pixel structure, and over sharpening setting)

For my own observation, S series screen will we more reflective than V series, and the black level.

Then, V series will have more advance color adjustment setting, like THX, Pro 1/ Pro2, which can access ISFccc calibration option, resulting more accurate color reproduction.
ST - Above average model, which PQ is satisfied on most level, but not the greatest
VT - High end model which PQ is the best among all the available model in term of black level, color reproduction, and screen reflectiveness

You can also consider Samsung 51" D8000 3D plasma, which is direct competitor to P50VT30K, selling for RM7999.

Samsung D8000 series is definitely very good as well, the styling is more high end looking than the VT plasma series.. I also like the sharp quattron brows.gif

Actually, the D8000 is more comparable to the GT30, if it was sold in Malaysia. It's not in VT's class according to a review and hence, the much cheaper price relative to the VT.

Hi guys,

I own a 50" Plasma Viera X series. There is a sticker on it that mention the TV is DLNA certified. As what I understand, DLNA certified means I am able to stream movies and pictures from my laptop or media server to the TV. Is that right? If so, how can I "push" movies and pictures from my laptop to the TV? Can anyone guide?

thanks!

Just go and download mezzmo. Very easy to configure. Make sure your movies are in the correct format n resolution. It is that picky.

Added on February 21, 2012, 10:43 pmOh yeah.. new here.
I notice a lot of snow like dot dot when i stand very near to my plasma.
Is this normal?

When I stand like 2 meters.. then is ok. Plasma like that?

Mezzmo looks awesome! But it's not free. sad.gif Any free option like Mezzmo?

I don't have the snowing problem like yours on my Plasma.

Try using Windows 7 Media Player. Free DLNA server. Google for details of setting up the media server.

Personal experience: DLNA is difficult to configure due to the different formats available in the internets. But playing the standard avi (divx/xvid) movies should be OK. Photos (JPG) and music (MP3) is also straight forward.

For free option, you can try Serviio.

To stream content from your PC to your TV, you need to connect your TV to your network.
You can connect your TV LAN port direct to your computer or via network switch.
Other option is to buy a Wi-Fi dongle, then connect your TV to your wireless network.

If your network has router (normal internet modem router will do), your router will automatic assign an IP address for your TV.
If not, you have to manually configure an IP address for your TV.

After installing Serviio in your computer, run the program, start the media server.
If the network is connected successfully, Serviio will detect your TV, and your TV will detect the Serviio server.

To view DLNA content from your TV, press "Viera Cast" or "Viera Connect", then select "Media Server".
Then select on the media server detected, like "Serviio", then select the folder that has media file.

To share out particular folder which contain mp3, video and photo, just configure Serviio to share out the folder.

For Panasonic plasma TV, the media file that can be played is very limited
2010 model only can play Divx/Xvid, Mpeg2 format (DVD or Bluray), mp3, Bitmap, Jpeg.
2011 will support H264 mkv, wmv,mp4, wma.

Normally media server will have a "Transcoding" function that will auto convert the video that your TV cannot play, so that your TV can play all the video available regardless the format.
But this will put heavy processing load on your PC, and use up a lot hard disk space.

So far Serviio work well with VT20K.

Thanks Alan Yee for the tip. I cannot remember the exact model of my X series, but it doesn't have a build-in WIFI. I rather than not to use the cable option so if anyone here is selling their Panasonic WIFI dongle, please do let me know. I am interested to buy one and give DLNA a try.

Got but probably later. March and April only release those up to 60'. For 65', wait for further notice.
