anyway, good game last night! david luiz is an exceptional player, quality. torres slowly get his touches back, hopefully he'll keep his head down and improve more. great assist nonetheless, that'll surely gain his confidence back

pyro, dont even think about it! u wont be TS even if you're the last football fan on earth!

i wonder which side will AVB field in against manu this coming weekend. since he left out Lampard and Terry, i guess he is going for experience instead of the fast paced squad fielded against bayer.

regardless, Mata will definitely start. LOL. he is worth every penny Roman spent.

now malouda pulak saying torres needs time to settle, on an interview published by espn. maybe AVB should investigate him. lol tiba2 kawan baik, i'd be suspicious of i was the manager. laugh.gif

AVB : we will try to get our hands on the original recording. we will listen to it again to make sure of the contents. if its true he made such sarcastic comments, we'll punish him of course. he'll be forced to study the art of finishing with salomon kalou, for two hours straight.

Not kinda surprising, since we have a few players who started for the first time this season.. And boy, it was really hard to gel together sweat.gif

But the most difficult match of our group stage is complete... Now for some home wins and one on the road, we will be home safe and dry. smile.gif

On the other hand, Man City looks to be in a more tight spot... If Napoli can draw with them at home, imagine what happens when they face the Italians later?

Last night stand out performer for United was Lindergaard. i wonder who will SAF choose for this weekend. I think if we were to stand any chance at OT againt MU, we must speed up the tempo and don't be too open. that's why i'd prefer Brana over Bosingwa for this fixture.

Fergie going for pace at OT, looking at the CL lineup. Plan A - Pressure + pace, neutralise MU, create chances. Plan B- Slow down their game, play slow build-up.
Both plans is hard at OT, but i believe we can do it

to be honest, i think we have to defend very well against united, especially when they have possession just outside the box. imo, defend well, and we might leave OT with 3 points.

Plan A, no doubt if you ask me.
Our passing is not that good, slow build up can't fit us and I don't think we have the quality of making all the through ball that can breaks down the Utd defense. With lot of pace we have in our squad, Torres, Mata, Sturrdge, pace and attack is the key if we want to win the game.
I am not saying a draw, I demand a win.
If we play slow build up play, Utd will pressure us and when we lose the ball too frequently or don't make the chances count, Utd is gonna punish us.

for this particular game, i actually wouldn't mind lampard, studge, meireles and torres all go crazy with long range shots. seriously. this is one time where i don't think its bad if a lot of players just go for the 'hit and hope' strategy.

with de gea in goal, i think he's bound to drop a couple of them. if its a cagey game, screw all the pass and move. just smash the ball hard and true. the whole of the premier league knows utd are having a slight problem in goal, and we'd be foolish not to try and exploit that.

+1, im putting high hopes to the young and new lads. mata, sturridge, luiz. they all deserve a goal with the effort they gave from previous match against leverkusen.

so how will AVB play his team this week? im having a thought of a combination of both youngsters and senior players as 1st 11. as much as we need terry to play, i want to see luiz as our fort this sunday..

Very unlikely. Yes.
Midfield superweak, i never seen this kind of setup before so i dont know.
Ramires on the left, yes, with Young playing on the right and setting up the fastest pace for United, Ramires and Cole will need to be as quick.
I expected Oriol and Josh to start (at least some play time) against Leverkusen but none, Josh was on the bench and maybe just maybe AVB has something for him in store for United. I would love to put Mata in but he gave his 110% the last games, not sure if he can keep it up.

i can't imagine AVB fielding this team. he will not gamble on such lineup. later ppl blame his lineup if we lose.

i believe AVB will fielding this team:

cech
bosingwa iva JT cole
meireles
ramires lampard
DS23 torres mata

same lineup against sunderland with sole change (anelka - lampard).

interesting line-up, but highly unlikely me thinks. besides didier hasn't recovered yet.

anyone happen to catch utd vs benfica? watched the highlights and benfica appeared to be really battering their defense. don't know if its an accurate representation of the whole 90 mins though.

i read guardian's story about potential legal wrangles involving pastore, if we had signed him up. a lot to do with the much maligned part ownership of players from other clubs and i think the story has some legs to it. its really odd considering his agent was already travelling to london and suddenly everything was quiet for awhile, before psg went from outsiders to favourites for his signature. watched some of the ligue 1 highlights and he really is one heck of a talent. possibly one that got away but if his arrival spells future sanctions for us in the champions league and transfer window, i'd say we dodged a major bullet. and besides, mata has more pace. laugh.gif

you guys know why josh didnt feature in any Chelsea match? i reckon AVB is not willing to risk a player withiut strengh in a competrtive match

thats why AVB played romeu during the last match.
this is my only thought la. because if josh pkaay and a slght body contact and it'll make him lose the ball. look at that kid. if only if his built is a lil bit tougher

Same like ramires before when he first join us... Like tak cukup makan but look at him now... Pretty build i might say, not like a pushover like before. Hopefully our backroom staff know what to do with the lightweight bunch in the squad.

Better a bit of compromise than not playing at all. I feel if he doesn't bulk up a bit, he won't really make it in the Premier League.

I still don't quite get why we would get so pricey youngsters only for them to be out on loan.. might as well not buy them in the first place, and continue monitoring the market to find suitable replacements. I think Arsenal's new recruit, Arteta from Everton, would've been a great add to the blues.

if we just scout them without making any move they might left us for another club...if we spend 5 mil of 4 potential youngster and end up with just one 30mil worth of player fulfill his potential then we already save 10mil if we buy him later at his prime state...if just investment...

Chelsea already preparing for the next wave since Mourinho..this all youngster will eventually push the 30+ players out of the team...purely based on the performance...hopefully..

Arteta is a great CM..no doubt but where can he fit in the blues??? I rated Lampard,Mata,Ramires,Mikel and Essien ahead of him...

The post-mourinho restructuring happy.gif I hope AVB will be in for the long-term, that way, the club can have more stability to progress.. keep sacking managers is not the way to go! So high cost if keep sacking.. LoL laugh.gif the money can be used to invest in player development instead happy.gif

Hopefully the young ones are worth their value =) Otherwise, if suddenly star players start running away like at Arsenal, we're in big trouble.. LoL

Looks like ANELKA and DROGBA will be leaving at the end of season. DROGBA has not sign a new contract maybe CHELSEA have offer him a paycut deal due to his age. But they will be leaving with head held high with all their contribution to CHELSEA notworthy.gif Expect more transfer movement from AVB since 1 year is enough for him to see and decide who is surplus to requirement.

Of course if only AVB did not get the sack from RA tongue.gif

Not saying if we lose we must not judge AVB, is that we would like to see hows our team perform regardless win of lose, we have to put up a good fight. i just want a good game.

wootttt hoping for a cracker of a match tonight! but as usual i think both teams will be fairly cautious and we might see some cagey opening minutes. win or lose, its still a marathon and the finish line isn't even in sight yet! it would be a massive confidence boost for either team though. smile.gif

QUOTE(GravityFi3ld @ Sep 17 2011, 10:19 PM)
I still don't quite get why we would get so pricey youngsters only for them to be out on loan.. might as well not buy them in the first place, and continue monitoring the market to find suitable replacements. I think Arsenal's new recruit, Arteta from Everton, would've been a great add to the blues.
*
the market is changing nowadays dude, and chelsea need to change with it. we can't compete with the big spenders i.e : madrid, city and expect to come out tops. every once in awhile roman will feel the need to secure a big name he likes, but as these 'experiments' have proved to be unsuccessful thus far, he'll surely be more careful with his wallet in the future. hence the focus on bringing in more prospects, and targeting slightly pricey but 'near finished' products such as ramires, luiz and mata.

arteta? well to put it simply, he's injury prone and not good enough for chelsea imo.

Arteta's age wouldn't suit Chelsea's current goal too. LoL laugh.gif He's about the same age as Essien, but he could be a great pair with Mata in midfield.. LoL smile.gif

sorry mates, even as a chelsea fan, i would say that we will get trash like other games, not that i dont have confidence on the team, just that MU are playing too good, and we playing bad at the wrong places...

to me i rather the team lose at this point and get reflected by this... just to hate to have more to come...

Disappointing half time result, but speaking about performance, we're not bad.
Utd made EVERY chances counted, while we missed all our chances.

It's really disappointing, we actually do very well.
Poor defending though. AVB need to sort this out.

We left so many space in the middle. Our attacking not bad, but like eric said, MU made every chances count, while we missed all of ours.

It won't be as bad as the thrashing Arsenal received, Luiz should be coming on in the second half to strengthen the Blue wall a bit happy.gif Pretty confident Malouda is going to come in sooner or later to inject more offense too laugh.gif So cheer up Blue Brothers(and sister), we can still win this game - there's another 45minutes to go! happy.gif

Our marking is really poor, Lampard should do better for 1st and the 3rd Utd goal. I don't understand why was there no one marking Rooney for the 3rd goal.
As a PL newcomer, Mata should learn this lesson.

I don't see any 8-2 seriously, I am still carrying a hope.

The whole team is clueless. Midfield used to be the problem area. Now without a doubt it's the defence too.

At least this trashing will scare Abramovich into spending some money in January. Too bad that after today, Modric will cost upwards of £50m.

All in all, a very bad day for Chelsea.

There's a distinction between real fans and delusional fans. Real fans can criticize the team yet still support them wholeheartedly. Delusional fans only want to talk about the positives and chastise any negative observations about the team.

A fake fan is a gloryhunter who associates success with support.

Just because some of us slate the team, doesn't mean we don't back them loyally.

On a side note, the team's finishing is horrendous today. It doesn't matter how many chances we create if we don't score. The only thing that matters is the final result.

Torres miss was shocking.. but the main concern imo is Ramires. He's not connected to the game and made tons of mistakes. I wonder why he is not substituted.

btw, i think the ref made a dozen of wrong and biased calls.

FT 3-1 (did someone predicted this few pages back?)

A truly interesting match, we played good football, only without desired finishing..

I am worrying about Ramires as well, he doesn't make good runs and he hardly linked up with other players.
Good decision by AVB to drop Lampard at half time. Ramires should've come off instead of Meireles.

I thought Ramires was good in the game. He is my Chelsea man of the match.

His string of passes, his forward runs, his crucial, very crucial clearance.

Idk about others, but Ramires won the MOTM in my heart.

I am worrying about Ramires as well, he doesn't make good runs and he hardly linked up with other players.
Good decision by AVB to drop Lampard at half time. Ramires should've come off instead of Meireles.

agree with you. i think even chelsea lose, this is the best performance by chelsea n torres. you win nothing at september. chelsea n torres are getting better after this

really? how about the defenders? was united's goals is simply brilliant or due to defenders error?

Yup, midfield chopped too easily. Too bad Mikel's sub in was too late to shore up defence. Torres miss demotivated everyone. blush.gif

Torres vs rooney. Who is spoiler of the match? Both scored the goals but both miss chances to score another goals.

Oh good stuff I heard from my stream channel.

'Technically, Rooney's miss is worse than Torres's miss. The ball was still for Rooney but the ball still has a little bit force from Torres's miss.'

Torres has no excuses for that miss though, but got to admit, it's delicious to see Torres dribbling so beautifully well in the blue shirt.
1 week for finishing training, hat trick against Swansea!

We went for an attacking lineup, as much as i like MEIRELES attacking but he is not MIKEL on the defense and LAMPARD no longer offer much on defending with his slow track back. Would have prefer LUIZ and BRANA started at right back with RAMIRES MIKEL MEIRELES in the middle. Even COLE is having hard time on the left side with numerous miss tackle nothing to say on BOSINGWA defending.

But our attacking is smooth today and created a lot chances. Fair game by TORRES but that is really a BIG MISS. If he consistently playing at today level i am happy he start as our main striker. Good sub made by AVB too.

1st goal was bad defending even though is offside, beside BRANA and TERRY our other player are not that tall and tough for set pieces with MIKEL and LUIZ could be a different case. 2nd goal was a good strike. 3rd goal was unlucky. Somehow we are lucky to end the game with decent scoreline, it could be much worse but that is normal because we left ourselves expose at the back chasing for goal.

Disappointed for dropping 3 point but good game by our lads.

Today's game will be a game remembered for the goals that didnt happen.
The commentator keep expressing sympathy for Torres and his luck with goals and i hated it. We dont need sympathy. Sympathy is the last thing we need.

Lampard shouldnt have started. The 1st goal by United was really disappointing. Offside or not, to let 2 players unmarked is not forgivable.

Even though we lost today, i believe we will have brighter days ahead. We will be stronger than ever after the game.

i'm also quite satisfied with the game hehe

real intention and real spirit. the off the ball movement when we are on attacking mode is good, especially after lampard is subbed..

and i also agree ramires didnt connect well with the team. yep, he was everywhere but thats all about him. defensively good, but not during our attacking play.

lukaku seems a bit relax although we are chasing MU. and he looks sluggish..

1) im going for 4 miss of the early season within a game,

rooney's, berba's , torres's and ramires's.

2) we played well, but too many loopholes in our defense. i prefer david luiz to start from iva, or a sub mid-game at least.

3) again, torres. a good start for the first goal of the season but a horrible miss.

4) lukaku, is he invisible or what? rarely see him.

again, i want to stress on our defense. what happen to the fortress during the reign of special one? even terry made simple mistakes in the match.

the devils really are on hell's fire. trashed arsenal 8-2, a win with chelsea 3-1 .

The miss was really saddening. If he didn't miss and we lost 3-2, I would happily go to bed, we played quite well and it was not our day. However that miss, is gonna overshadow his goal. Nothing but pity for him, I wish I could talk to him. sad.gif

very disappointing first half.

i dont know what happened in the second half but Torres came out a different man. after he scored that goal, he looked like the player he was before despite the horrible miss.

very good move by AVB to remove Lampard. the two worst players was Ramires and Lampard, Ramires was better but there was no chemistry with the team.

defensively, we were also very poor to be honest. i can see the heart when Terry plays, but he isnt what he used to be. Ivanovic wasnt that great either but he was slightly better.

Mereiles in the DM position is a waste! i can understand if he can defend and attack decently but he quite poor in defense, kinda lead to nani's goal. Mereiles should have taken Lampard's place, Mikel or Ramires in DM. hell, i'd even play Romeu there.

all in all, we could have defended better and we should have finished more based on the enormous chances that we've created.

I am pretty sure he will be back. He just have to learn to let go and refocus himself. He starred today and he wasnt disliked on the field.

About Frank, AVB cannot drop him no, but he can drop him as a starter. Frank was pretty good coming from the bench in the previous game.

I thought Torres played really well on the front line today. Yes he had few 'tragic' misses, but without him, the forward could not produce any decent chance at all, despite Ramires shot on goal.

I was mesmerized by his lethal shot and powerful running. It's obvious that he's still rusty, but yet tonight, he shows that form is temporary and class ....is permanent

imo we can't really put both situation into comparison.

1.Rooney is taking penalty kick with his right, strongest leg, ball stay still, one on one with keeper

2.Torres is making a shot while running, with his weaker leg, ball moving fast, and with no keeper (recovering fast though)

It's both a bad bad miss. that's all we can put into perspective. Comparing both is kinda lame imo

by right the game shud ended man 4-3 chelsea.....(after excluding smalling's offside goal)
ramires is nervous!...at least allow sturridge to score the goal!....
our defending is really sucks....when ever manu attack...we are nervous...! damn why terry still on field!....shud gave luiz.....
torress...how much bigger the goal size u need? that is unacceptable miss!! even 5 yr old kid can finished that off!
lukaku was poor...
i expect malouda instead of mikel....a bad sub by AVB.....
now i miss drogba....
and cech u have the height cant you save nani's long range...since u are not under pressure circumstances...!

i would say overall were unlucky, and same time just a average game!...the previous match against leverkusen is still the best for the moment!...

After this game, there are plenty of positives from our team....we created a lot of chances but we failed to take them...consider this how many teams can go to OT and play like we did today....the stats are clearly on our side but in the end United takes their chances and they deserved the win...

and also after this game, i don't see lampard as regular starter anymore....he clearly cannot catch and match the speed of the match....it is an insult to lampard by subs him off straight after the half time.....it also shows that AVB was brave enough to drop big name.....

well for Torres, really feel for him, after such a wonderful goal then he produces 1 of the miss of the season...but overall i feel satisfied for his performance.....a glimpse of an in-form Torres we used to see.... smile.gif

That.

Decisions and lady luck smiled upon us this time. I thought Chelsea played very well at times. It was pretty even and very entertaining.

A lil bit of mindfucuk with all the misses but I enjoyed watching the match. End to end stuff, misses, goals and on field dramas.

BTW, I do think that most of you need to shrug off Torres' price tag. He needs time. Don't be a bunch of mofos like we have in MUST. Can't even comprehend simple things.

I hope THAT miss won't set Torres' confidence back. To be fair, he was brilliant today but his performance will no doubt be overshadowed by that glaring gaffe.

In terms of tactics, it's clear we badly need a playmaker to take over Lampard's position. Once Mata dropped to Lampard's spot and Anelka went on as left forward, we looked much better. Until January at least, we'll have to get by with Lampard or hopefully McEachran.

We still need Anelka. He has quality, even behind the strikers. But it seems like he want to move out of the bridge. Sturridge shouldn't have come off, unless it was drogba who was coming off.

as for mu. They were great. They deserved the win. Their flanks are extremely dangerous. Nani and young make the runs at the same time and many teams find it hard to defend both flanks.

Berba's miss wasn't a bad miss at all, Cole did superbly to keep it off. Torres miss was worse than rooneys coz Torres has empty net.

I haven't finish reading you post. but i decided to reply because you said Ramires is one of the worst.
I seriously doubt that. he assisted the almost-score goal to torres. and he made one of the most crucial block to avoid MU to score again.
He is one of the best.

I must say, Torres almost single handedly raised Chelsea's spirit. He's a changed man. That's the positive that you guys can get from this game.

LOL. stop arguing bout d miss. a miss is a miss. either it stupid or not. i can see a glimpse of old torres. his goal is a typical torres goal. hopefully, he'll build his confidence from this match.

and seriously... lukaku in for sturridge when we 2 goals down??? i bet kalou can do better.

err.. i guess Rooney miss is worst?no?

Torres miss shouldn't overshadow his well taken goal and his overall performance. for the 1st time i'd say Torres is back! haters can gtfo

Mata was my Chelsea man of the match, i can only remember one pass that he missed to Lukaku. he's everywhere.

me n my friend count for clear cut chance and guess what, we lead 8-6. LOL

i know it doesn't mean anything but the truth we had given United a good fight at Old Trafford.

but Man Utd pace is not the main problem...just simply good at the wrong time for us...above all...Ivanovic selection ahead of Luiz proven a good call...Torres start ahead of Anelka...but the main puzzle is...Lampard...or we need another winger on the left...AVB should start looking...because...Anelka Malouda and Kalou wont be long enough...but as long as they are here...i believe in them as the blues...

Bah, put this loss behind us(note to self). We are in 3rd place with 10pts, City with 13, Utd 15. Not a bad position to be in.

AVB should know what to do in terms of tactics and game plan. But i hope he also be able to revive and reassure players confidence and focus.

our defending is really sucks....when ever manu attack...we are nervous...! damn why terry still on field!....shud gave luiz.....
torress...how much bigger the goal size u need? that is unacceptable miss!! even 5 yr old kid can finished that off!
lukaku was poor...
i expect malouda instead of mikel....a bad sub by AVB.....
now i miss drogba....
and cech u have the height cant you save nani's long range...since u are not under pressure circumstances...!

i would say overall were unlucky, and same time just a average game!...the previous match against leverkusen is still the best for the moment!...

we need a natural right footed forward/winger. currently we're too dependent on our left side to create chances. also we could use a creative playmaker to sit behind the striker and feed through balls, and to complement mata. sadly lampard doesn't cut it anymore and mceachran needs time to mature. otherwise i believe we are strong enough to win titles.

Let's cool all talk of Torres being back as well as criticism for the miss. What's done is done. In the next few games, we'll see what Torres is made of.

Today we witnessed the old Torres and the Torres of late. Let's hope we see more of the former after this.

josh is cm. sturridge is left-footed. his crosses are not good enough. malouda and anelka no longer have pace. it should be our no.1 priority in jan window. besides, we don't need to spend a lot on it. i too would like to see our mega-spending days over. but we kinda need one for this position, so if we need to spend we should.

anelka is going, malouda is probably going, for the front line we have enough cover in lukaku, sturridge torres. for wide position anelka and malouda is probably going next season. you cant expect sturridge to play on the right side all season long. kalou is, well you know-what. if we dont spend now there is no cover at all especially for next season. we still lack wide players. and mata too, he couldnt possibly be playing every single game.

not agree to spend like crazy during january transfer window. the team is good. the squad rotation is there and nobody is injured except essien, whose position is well covered and drogba who is recovering fast

sturridge is a livewire on the right side and he did combine well with torres. so, no need to find a better right winger because avb will have real problem if another star come in

Sturridge didn't made impact in this match, especially in 2nd half.

A straight impact when lampard was substituted, lampard is lack of passion, just like walking on the pitch, gave up position just like that for first goal.

Mata didn't mark nani for second, he just gave nani a lot of space.

So far, team created chances, but cannot convert into goal.

Yes, you are right. I love Lampard very much but no player is bigger than the club, and I believe everyone here is mature enough to figure that out.

Raul sprayed a few killer passes which is good, but I don't think he can be a DM. He should be doing what he does best, and leave DM to Mikel.

the positives are

- its early season. we can still make them drop points at the bridge.
- fernando looks really good.
- AVB's ballsy calls
- we played very well in the second half.
- created a mountain of chances.

negatives are

- Lamps and JT getting old.
- bad finishing.
- Mereiles in DM.

want to add to ur list madfag,

positive
- Ramires cyborg stamina, presence in penalty box.

negative
- Ramires bad 1st touch, poor basic pass, lame effort when the goal at his mercy.

Just curious.

If you look at 2nd goal (Nani's blistering long range shot), you notice Cech was way out of his goal line, IF he was in position, can he save it? Nani's shot was really full of power and speed. straight dead ahead.

nani scored because no marking, and he got a lot of space, he use the space to speed and hit it to the goal.

yesterday game proved that torres can score if given the chance.

if my memory served me right, he only got 3 through ball from the midfield.
the first one he passed it to ramires, the second through ball he score, and the last one he missed it.

2 offisde goal from utd, how lucky can you get?

Question is, would Nani still have taken on the shot if Cech was in a perfect position? The moment he released the shot, I instantly went "crap, Cech" :/

If he did indeed take on the shot still, Cech MIGHT have been able to touch it if he was in position. Who knows though?

well, when nani received the long ball, the linesman just started his run towards Chelsea's pitch, so tiada nampak maybe?

The Smalling goal, even from before the ball was shot, 2 MU players already offside position (from my eyes la) but maybe it was a rili rili an inch-edge situation for the linesman..

This time, I really can say Chelsea was unlucky.

Why?

Because we played well.

Oh true also, I guess the huge ass space he's got, he got his vision on Cech was out of position and pulled that off. Thanks for the heads up wink.gif

^ But we have so much more to take from this game than the other teams who got beaten by them. I can honestly say I've never been as proud of the team in the last 1 year. This is the first time in that period that I've seen REAL passion, determination and commitment.

yesterday game proved that torres can score if given the chance.

if my memory served me right, he only got 3 through ball from the midfield.
the first one he passed it to ramires, the second through ball he score, and the last one he missed it.

2 offisde goal from utd, how lucky can you get?
*
a goal is a goal though. sometime it goes our way. some time it isnt.

i don't feel very sad + disappointed bout d defeat. better team win. we simply can't cope with utd attack.

on a bright side, good fight from the lads in d 2nd half.

+ torres still remember how to score goal. =p hopefully it's a start for torres revival.

Ya, for one second I was like "Is he that heavy?"

But.. having subbed at 68th minutes, that's 30-minute game time with Man Utd man... and ya, playing OOP(out-of-position) some more.

That time, I snapped and "He's only 18 afterall. Having to have such opportunities, not many can pull off"

if we dont take manu's luck into consideration, we've only got ourselves to blame for not finishing the chances that we've created.

now the big question is, will Lampard start the next game? if im not mistaken, we're playing against fulham in the league cup right?

I didn't really put high expectation on yesterday games given our current form + MU form and also it is an away games.

Good to see Torres score in OT and also there were a lot of changes created which means we are not too far off from MU.
TBH, we can't keep up with MU flanker. sad.gif
Really hope Anelka is staying at Chelsea. If he leave we really need some good player fill in the gap.
We also need some1 to fill in Lampard gap as well since he is not as he used too when he was young. sad.gif

Compare to the last game when Lukaku was playing, yesterday he did looked a bit lost and lost the ball quite often. But he sure is big in size, and I'm sure he will adapt to Stamford Bridge given the opportunity.

well, when nani received the long ball, the linesman just started his run towards Chelsea's pitch, so tiada nampak maybe?

The Smalling goal, even from before the ball was shot, 2 MU players already offside position (from my eyes la) but maybe it was a rili rili an inch-edge situation for the linesman..

This time, I really can say Chelsea was unlucky.

Why?

Because we played well.

Oh true also, I guess the huge ass space he's got, he got his vision on Cech was out of position and pulled that off. Thanks for the heads up wink.gif

doesnt make sense to me. AVB will never risk changing too many players in the first eleven. no offence though. were not arsenal or manchester. there will be young player but only a couple or perhaps at most 4 changes

This is the best formation at the moment.I start to worry about Ramires as I said before, he played in Chelsea for more than one season and yet, he doesn't shows his ability to link up with other players.
I don't see any chance for Meireles to play in DM, IF AVB is not stupid. What a waste to play a wonderful attacking midfielder in DM. It's really obvious that when Mikel came on, we controlled the game. He has the ability to hold on the ball and create space for others.
Mata will play an attacking role as well. Anelka had few wonderful games, he deserve a start. Same goes with both Torres and Sturridge. They will come good for sure.

Looking forward for the next match!

hmm where to start?

okay the good stuff

1. AVB showing again who's boss and pissing all over player power by hauling lampsy off at half time. this is a sign of things to come and i'm lovin' it. nobody's bigger than chelsea football club. heck if zola was still here and he was having a bad game, AVB will probably haul him off too. exactly the type of manager we need running the show.

2. fernando u know who. lively. sublime goal. worked hard. occasional silky dribbling skills.

3. super-sub nico. made an assist within seconds, and did well to actually slow things down when we were giving the ball away left, right, and center. one of the few occasions i was actually happy to see him take his sweet time in possession!

3. fighting spirit. we really threw caution out the window, and constantly burst forward to try and score.

4. our pace and dynamism in attack. it's such polar opposites with carlo ancelotti's 'bad moment' side last season, its unbelievable.

the bad stuff mixed with some good. (long list coming up!! lol)

cech - panicky (this label is going to be used a few times so be warned). had one instant where he could've caught the ball after a deflected shot/pass late in the game. chose to push it out weakly, women's volleyball style.baffling. slightly out of position when nani's strike came in? maybe. quick throws out from his box to initiate attacks which aided our fluidity.

terry - panicky. looked too eager to lunge into challenges and sometimes missed them. awful decision to attempt to clear the ball on the ground when meireles was waiting there to boot it out. turned into a superb square pass to nani who accidentally nudged it over to wayne. unlucky but still a free gift in my book.

ashley : panicky. same syndrome as JT. not enough crosses. nani had him for breakfast many times.

ivanovic : panicky. same syndrome as ashley. much worse than jt. good in the air though.

bosingwa : left gaps on the right hand side. numerous times. panicky. same syndrome as ivanovic but not as bad. didn't offer much going forward.

ramires : lots of running, tracking back and some great forward bursts. clumsy. lost the ball many times under pressure. shocking miss from nando's great ball across.

mata: shrugged off the ball too many times. a bit clumsy. not positive enough in terms of attempting to dribble pass some opposition players. could've had more impact on the game.

lampard : poor. left smalling unmarked for the goal. could not cope with the pace of the game and was a mere passenger in the first half. considering its such a monumental match, i'm very disappointed with his contribution. lampard can be poor, but he's not THAT poor. needs to take a long hard look at himself in the mirror and decide what role he really feels capable of playing from now on.

studge: looked nervous and a shadow of the player who faced leverkusen. wayward shots, not much courage in taking on players and i couldn't remember a decent cross he put in. didn't use his pace. decent in patches.

mereiles: awful game. tried too hard to rush our counter attacks and constantly gave the ball away. not strong enough in the tackle either.

mikel: a couple of mistakes as he had trouble adapting to the pace of the game. understandable. SHOULD HAVE STARTED AHEAD OF LAMPARD. slowed the game down when he came on, and could have attempted to release the forward players better when the clock was running down.

torres: early chance to give us a lead when he hypnotised anderson into passing straight to him. should have tested de gea at least. and that open goal miss..oh my. how he reacts in the next game will determine how much mental strength he has in reserve. the press are going mental about that blunder and AVB needs to put a shoulder around the lad and tell him "son, it happens to be best of them. don't worry, you'll get tons of chances to redeem yourself in the future. now go watch this youtube compilation of shocking misses from football's biggest superstars which i made for u."

lukaku: looked like dear caught in the headlights whenever he received the ball. can't play on the wings and i actually hoped kalou was there to fill in instead, after watching lukaku struggling badly. such a high pressure game so the nerves probably got to him.

AVB: i salute the coach for his bravery, but i think we could have used more defensive steel in the middle with mikel in there. the game was good entertainment but some of our defensive work left a lot to be desired. we were exposed many times in the second half, but that's expected as we chased the game. taking off studge was a little harsh as i think he could have conjured something for himself, or his teammates. lukaku shouldn't have been brought on as a last throw of the dice. there is such a thing as overdoing it, and imho AVB overdid it just a little with the omission of mikel from the starting line-up and the introduction of lukaku late in the game.

overall - i choose not to ignore the huge elephant in the room and can safely say we were hard done by some dodgy officiating. smalling was offside but frank still should've pressured him, same as nani and we shouldn't have let him just jog into the middle and have a free shot at goal. shades of the rooney one we conceded at the bridge last season when nobody wanted to close him down. both were very good finishes it has to be said but the goals shouldn't have stood. in the future i'd imagine we will receive some things in our favour, but judging by the way things have gone i don't expect it to happen soon.

it could so easily have been us winning with that scoreline (if we got the calls), because we had the chances. i'd rate our attack an 8/10 but our defense was about a 4. though u could argue it should receive a higher score for that virtually straight line defense designed to catch attackers offside. this is what AVB wanted to implement and the players are applying it well, but he has to realise there's a huge risk anytime the officials miss it because it usually ends up with us conceding. should he review our defensive style? debatable.

still a great game by the blues, and i enjoyed how we really took them on in their own backyard. hugely encouraged by the progress the team have made so far and the distinct change in playing styles AVB is bringing to chelsea fc. tons of work stiill needed for defensive drills, but i'm excited to watch how we're transforming this season. we're still the dark horses and i wouldn't have it any other way. KTBFFH!!! smile.gif

our defending is really sucks....when ever manu attack...we are nervous...! damn why terry still on field!....shud gave luiz.....
torress...how much bigger the goal size u need? that is unacceptable miss!! even 5 yr old kid can finished that off!
lukaku was poor...
i expect malouda instead of mikel....a bad sub by AVB.....
now i miss drogba....
and cech u have the height cant you save nani's long range...since u are not under pressure circumstances...!

i would say overall were unlucky, and same time just a average game!...the previous match against leverkusen is still the best for the moment!...

I might be wrong about Ramires thing, but I do think Anelka deserve the first eleven than him. Ramires is very good in individual skills, like typical Brazilian, but sadly he can't link up well with other players. Hope I am wrong though. Some communication with teammates in training might solve this problem, hopefully smile.gif
About Mata, AVB actually played him in that position on second half with Anelka coming on. Mata will get more like a free role, but I do really think Anelka deserves a start here.

should we keep the same lineup against fulham? i wonder how studge would do in a more central role..flanked by mata and nico. i'd give josh and mikel a start as well. lampard might get in there as well. back four is settled but i want to see a JT and luiz partnership.

Torres did make an impact with the 1st goal, just unfortunate of him to miss the 2nd one.
I would prefer to have Torres play with the Barcelona kid rather than Lukaku and start Nico behind them.
You can see Torres's confident is there .. to start scoring on the big game is pressure off him .. No doubt, he is back and i believed he can raise the bar now ..

BTW, Rooney n Torres misses ... blamed it on the new Nike T90 shoes cos both were wearing them .. hahaha ...

Against Fulham

Hilario
Ivanovic,Terry,Luiz,Bertrand
Romeu,Mikel,Mata
Sturridge,Torres,Malouda

Reasons : Ivanovic should start to get used to his old position at RB..Luiz start because he need to forge a good partnership with Terry..Bosingwa rest because he already start all of the game...the same reason why Cole rest and give the opportunity to Bertrand...Romeu start the game and sub with Josh at half time..Mikel to guard the back four..Mata to continue his impressive AM/CM role during Man Utd again..Sturridge still need game..Torres need to sharpen his finishing..sub around 60 minutes with Lukaku...Malouda need game and AVB just maybe give a chance to a youngster at LW position...but at least the scoreline must let the fans breath freely or else...no youngster will do his debut...

I think anelka, luiz, alex, kalou should play against fulham. I personally would like to see how kalou is doing especially AVB didnt really favour him.

my line up would be:

hilario
ivanovic - alex - luiz - bertrand
lampard - josh
anelka
malouda - sturridge - kalou

bring on romeu and lukaku later in the game depand on the scoreline.
our 2nd team should be able to compete on level with fulham.

so Torres, chin up brother.

negativity again? haizz.

i d k abt sinclair much. good lad but not likely he's going to play even if he's with chelsea now.

terima lah hakikat our youth system sucks! not much coming from the youth team how they going to push the first team? even AVB admitted it. the gap is too big.
how many time we want to cycle abt this again and again and again.

Just swallow this: our youth system sucks. AVB did agree with this and even asked the possibility for the reserves squad to be allowed to play some lower level league.

yah di Santo oso can claimed the same thing. he dont get much playing time. but as i can remember his record with wigan oso not thaaaaaat good pubn

hmm it seems AVB had a little chat with the 'right people' as he puts it, about decisions in the game that clearly went against us vs utd. what do u guys think about this? clearly its not something new as ferguson consistently makes 'statements' in the press which indirectly puts pressure on any officials involved in utd's fixtures, kenny dalglish said he had a fruitful 'discussion' with mike riley in view of recent decisions that went against pool, and now AVB has made his move. good? bad?

personally i think its warranted because there were some major calls that went against us or weren't given from the opening fixture vs stoke, and it has quite surprisingly continued in the same vein. usually they're spread out over the season but this time around they seem to be...consistent. i think AVB has realised this as well, hence he decided there was a need to voice out his concern. valuable points have been dropped so early on, and any fan who doesn't feel at least slightly aggrieved would be lying. but the fact that AVB went through the right channels instead of lambasting anyone who was in charge during the post match interview ala ferguson, is commendable. however i would prefer if he kept it private and refrained from announcing to the press about his post match actions. the media treat chelsea differently and the sooner AVB realises this the better. we don't need extra the attention.

yap especially when the wrong decision..is the vital one..

btw..

we are not trying to change the result for the last game...it will still remain 3-1 at Old Trafford...but we must voice our concern for the upcoming fixtures...goal is still goal...offside still offside...defeated still defeated...nothing from the past will change...

we also won at Old Trafford from the offside goal..last 2 season...

yap especially when the wrong decision..is the vital one..

btw..

we are not trying to change the result for the last game...it will still remain 3-1 at Old Trafford...but we must voice our concern for the upcoming fixtures...goal is still goal...offside still offside...defeated still defeated...nothing from the past will change...

we also won at Old Trafford from the offside goal..last 2 season...

this is true. the result won't change, that much is certain. but its worth giving them a 'heads up' so to speak, that we're not at all pleased with the standard of officiating in the last few matches. of course things were called in our favour a couple of seasons ago at OT, but for them to blame that sole result on losing the title is a bit rich because everyone knows its a marathon, not a sprint. u lose out on the epl trophy over the course of 38 games, not just one. having said that, i think we would be just as upset and will keep bringing up that fateful day which 'cost' us the league, if we were in their shoes.

on another note, yeay kakuta scored! when i saw the scoreline all i was interested in is the match report, and i'm glad gael was in there smile.gif too bad chris eagles scored the other because i was hoping gael's performance would be enough to replace the former in coyle's first eleven tongue.gif if i'm not mistaken they play in similar positions so he's effectively up against our lad for a starting berth. and it was a full match for him as well, so i'm looking forward to watching the repeat when i get home, to get the full picture of how he did.

p.s : roman with some 'friendly advice' to AVB to play the youngsters. not that i'm in any doubt our manager was going to play them anyway, but its nice the owner himself wants to see them given a chance. a little meddling there, but its for a good cause, so its allright smile.gif

i just want to share something regarding this bad decision in world of football. well, i'm a rugby player. and i watch rugby a lot. if you also watch rugby, you'll realize that the amount of controversies regarding fault refereeing is much much lesser than in a football game. this is mainly due to the fact that the ref in a rugby game rely heavily on the Replays.

rugby is more of a slow game and even without the replay (or video refs), you can even spot the mistakes and make decision. this doesn't happen in world of football. for me, you can't blame the linesman for not awarding an offside when there is one because IN REAL TIME, he didn't see it. you must also take into account his perspectives when the incident happen. sometime, got people block his view, sometime the shot is super fast and he can't see who is offside and who is not..

so, i can't brain why football didn't use this technology. some people may argue by using this technology, it will demolish the drama in football. so, since everybody wants drama, there, you got it. fans should come into conclusion that this drama thingy is part and parcel in football. sometime you get it your way, sometime not. and thus, IMO, it is not a valid point to argue, especially against the team that got the advantage from this human error.

i always hope this technology will be implemented in football. it is such a beautiful game and to have it tarnished by a mere human error is not worth it. the game is played and viewed with superb passion so, let it have the best refs.

p/s: if you haven't see any rugby match, now is a good time. rugby world cup hehe and you can see the effectiveness of video refs

well ive heard that having this technology, will break the tempo of the game. always in need of pausing the game and wait for final decision. I believe that's one of the reason why they do not implement that.

Personally, I also prefer without videos, whether the decision will favor me, or against me.

That's just football. Every moment as it is.

That aside,

Tonight who's watching? I am godamn definitely watching!! Sleep is for the weak!

Actually I think FIFA and UEFA don't want to implement them is because small nations pro leagues might not be able to afford it. If only implement in developed country, then when continental games like Champions League use video tech also, then England/Spain will be used to them while teams from say...Wales/Crypus might not be used to the amount of time stopped for video reviews.

And somemore considering almost every small nations in Asia also have their own professional leagues , I would think leagues like Maldives, Philipines(if there is) will struggle to meet the video tech rule.

Or they might just be lazy to rewrite one whole paragraph of the rulebook to differentiate how to use video tech brows.gif tongue.gif

p/s: rugby match is 80 minutes right? Usually only watch it for half hour in the evening then leave teleision.

I never watch rugby but I totally support for a non-technology football.
Goal-line technology might be the maximum point for technology.
Relying too much on replays for football will cut down most of the interesting part of the game, drama. You can't really deny this, without drama, football doesn't have much like 'fan' vs 'fan' discussion.
Sports newspaper might cut down 40%, and a lot. Just take an example, Lampard 'scored a goal' against Germany in WC2010, but officials didn't give it. And ALMOST everyone was talking about that, this is the most effective way to keep this sport active.

Tonight match! I will watch it. Can't wait to see Lukaku and Josh! smile.gif

I think the excuse of video technology "breaking the tempo of the game" is the biggest BS I've ever heard. The amount of time a replay would take is definitely less than the time players will spend protesting the decision with the referee.

So yes, I agree that it's more the cost of such technology being implemented and the drama it is able to induce which is why video tech is still not used.
