Went to try out the Inspira today because I'm searching for a replacement car for my wife. Tried both the 1.8manual and 2.0 Inspira. Was anticipating a sporty powerful car when I stepped into the 1.8.... but there was no punch to the acceleration. OK, nevermind, maybe the 2litre would be better. Stepped into the 2.0P Inspira......terus I floored the accelerator.... I was like thinking, "What?! This is it?! This was the 'powerful' sedan they were talking about?". The engine was loud... but it was all show, but no go. A little bit disappointed. So I might as well get the Persona hi-line for half the price.

No kick is due to CVT. Its not really a problem or fault though because it is designed to be like that. Try using manual shifter and see. I have no problems smoking other "T,H,N" same segment cars going uphill in genting, not to mention I never have the feel that I'm going too fast (in fact can say that I'm cruising comfortably without the MIVEC!)

If you think Inspira CVT no power, if you go try saga FLX...lagi teruk...the "accel shock" comes in later on, albelt a small one if you manage to feel it, if you continue to floor the pedal when the rpm goes above 2k rpm. That is what CVT is suppose to do, eliminate shift shock and give you a smooth ride. My wife has been complaining to me that she has been driving on the highway exceeding the speed limit all the time cuz she use "feel" and the sound of the engine to grasp how fast the car is (previously she was driving Wira/Elantra 2011). Now because its so blardy smooth, she need to look at the speedo all the time.

If you wan adrenaline those type of feel, go for satria neo cps lah tongue.gif

No lah... not looking for an adrenaline rush. It is for my wife actually. I already have my fun ride, my GTi. Just that I've heard so much about the 'power' and 'potential' of this car that it made me anticipate a lot from it.

Maybe I'm just not used to the CVT 'feel'. blush.gif I'll go give it another try later.
Oh yeah, so far, after so many months of ownership, any problem with the Inspira?

Haha, me also same...first time I test drive the CVT feel like no kick but the speedo readings says differently....the SA ask me use manual shifter then I feel the difference. You should too smile.gif.

But remember, Inspira is tuned for comfort. Even if its powerful, the power comes in "gently".

Problems....hmmm...i think currently the most common problem is our HU fading and noise problem (can't do anything since most modern HU is like that already) and super hard bushing (causing ngek ngek sound when you pass through bumps the first few times in the morning).

Got a question, now i have the ngek ngek sound (well only 1 ngek sound) every time i pass through bumps. If i don't change the bushings, any bad effects on my car?

You will not feel the rush/power/jerk or screaming of vtec sound (the mivec is a smooth valve shift without u knowing) + the smooth cvt gb, it is almost impossible to know that you are going fast unless you see the speedometer and the other cars you're leaving behind when you floor the accelerator. If you want to feel the normal jerk/manual shifting fun, play with the paddle shifters.... brows.gif

No major issue as its basically a Lancer rebadged. Oh wait, there is an major cause of concern... getting speeding tickets, because most of the time you will not realise the car had exceeded speed limit...

Yeah lor.. after hearing so much hype about the Inspira, my expectations were quite high.  nod.gif My mistake for comparing, but I thought a similar displacement engine would give more or less the same type of performance. CVT really that much different from DSG huh?
*
Which Golf you're comparing first? IF Gti then of course cant compare lo. Even the 1.4TSi also edge the NA 4B lo. haha
If you have driven before the Altis 2.0 and the Sylphy, then you will know that the Inspira packs more punch in it.

DSG is still a geared transmission, it is basically still a conventional 6 or 7 gear gearbox with a set of clutches which engages automatically. Hence, you still get more or less the same feeling if you jump into a DSG car from a conventional auto/manual car.

However, CVT is a whole lot of different breed. Therefore you need a new mindset to adapt to it. You cant expect a single characteristic of conventional geared transmission to be available in CVT. You wont find it.

Wah.. got nyet-nyet sound ah? Last time my Waja CPS had nyet-nyet sound on the front left fender side... till the day I sold it also not fully resolved. I tried everything, till the point I placed Ultra Racing bars all over to reduce body flex. It helped for a while. Another thing I've noticed is the shallow trunk space. Is there anyway to increase it/make it deeper? 1 other thing is, the engine is pretty audible when u start to accelerate. On purpose, or sound proofing not enough ah?

The trunk is actually pretty big, just that our spare tyre also be-lardy big. If you check the spare tyre, you can see that tyre protrudes out 3-4 inches. If you replace it with slim tyre, you can get those height back though I don't recommend it as driving with slim tyre for long distance is quite dangerous... but even if you do that, you cannot compare the trunk size to your Waja. Waja's trunk space is one of the biggest I've seen so far

The ngek ngek sound is traced to come from our ultra hard bushings....you can go proton SC and change to softer ones then gone liao.

about sound proofing, sound proofing from engine bay and wind sound is adequate, but the road noise is very obvious especially at high speeds rclxub.gif

potatoes: who ask you go mod so much in such a short period of time. Slowly do 1 year 1 mod lah then no complaint.
