Locking V2 I suppose hmm.gif
Is it legal? laugh.gif
Since its very hard to get threads pinned... I think its best to update both threads at once?
Any suggestions bro? notworthy.gif

They will keep on selling until some one gets cheated?
AonePlus Digital Mall for instance, the Satellite M300 has been there for almost a year liao and its still there laugh.gif
With old specs and worse, old price @RM3k doh.gif doh.gif

Or they could simply lower the prices until it sells

Dell pricelist updated with help from lee_what2004 sifu! thumbup.gif

At price as low as these, the Inspiron 13R would be worth it even though its older in terms of technology nod.gif
Dell
Inspiron 13R, i3-380M + Intel HD@RM1399
Inspiron 13R, i5-480M + Intel HD@RM1599

Just checked, the i3-380M and i5-480 (duh) is better than the current Intel B940/950 in terms of processing power... So, definitely worth it thumbup.gif

^Can go to www.illegear.com to check further the specs.

The Sager has weaker CPU, better GPU and Full HD screen but no backlit keyboard, compared to the Asus with HD screen only, the Asus would have higher frame rate on games..

Yeah, since it has smaller screen resolutions, 1366x768 compared to the Sager NP8130's 1920x1080..
But for other task, 1920x1080 would show more things..

hey, u sure v131 with i3 2330M come with HD 3000? i checked in Intel websote, 2330M spec does not include HD 3000.
further more the i5 2430M spec is not official release in Intel website yet, and having checked with DELL, they are not
able to confirm the spec also.

(no offence, just wondering where you get the info smile.gif )

All Sandy Bridge processors will run on Intel Hd3000, its just a matter of difference in terms of the integrated GPU clockspeed iinm.
Not sure whether there's any differences between the Intel Hd3000 of these 2 i5 or not... probably not hmm.gif

HD2000 is usually for the lower end Core processors. In general, i3, i5 and i7 would be using the HD3000, unless there's a change.

Looking for ASUS 14", price lower than 1.4k, no gaming at all, mostly documents or watching video. suggestion?

Also looking for ASUS 14" or larger, price preferably lower than 2k or at most 2.4k, play DOTA, movies, musics, maybe photo processing (Photoshop, Lighthouse, etc) and 3D software (CATIA. Autocad). Preferably with numpad too!

Any suggestion is very much appreciated!

Need some advise. Looking for a serious gaming at 14' (excluding the pricey mx14).
ON the market there seem to be:
HP DV4 3016 with HD6750
Lenovo Y470 with GT550
Asus N45SF with GT555 ?functioning with throttlestop?

Any advice on which one to pick?
TQ

First recommendation, K43U?

For the second one, numpads don't feature on 14" laptops. You would need 15" for that.

If you don't mind, I think the A43TA would be a good choice.

N45SF is partially fixed, I wouldn't fully recommend it for serious gaming at the moment. The Lenovo is the better choice now though the DV4 isn't that weak either.

Gaming and application wise is as competent at a cheaper price but in terms of design, might be a bit more boring and the speakers are below average.

If no news from ASUS, will settle for Y470 next week.
I don't suppose anyone can tell me which store sells the cheapest Y470 in Low Yat? I heard some Iranian guy is selling the rig for $2800 there.

Do you need a Quad core?
Core i5 usually is enough..

Other multimedia laptop is Dell XPS 15 with upgrade screen to 1080p.

Usually Intel i7 processors are quad core (4 cores), and are quite powerful, suitable for multitasking, rendering stuffs, but generates more heat and consumes more electricity nod.gif

A43TA is local designation. K43TA is for other countries.

By the way, K53TA reviewed.

Make sure that you don't pay the RRP RM2,799 as many sellers are selling it at RM2,699.

The lowest price I can find is RM2,550.

Local designation, might be an error on the site. Product guide and actual unit lists it as A43TA. Both K and A have different outer appearance.

That is the authorized dealer RRP from ASUS itself.
Shops won't sell at the price you mention, unless they don't need to pay their staff and the rent.

Hi everyone,

For A43TA, AMD A6-3400M + AMD HD6720 G2@RM1899

Can i ask AMD 6720 G2 is comparable to Nvidia which card? 540m? has the driver issue of the amd dual card been solved?

The is another model A43Sa-VX011v, i5-2410M + AMD HD6730@RM2499, the 6720 G2 differs greatly from the 6730? 6730 is comparable to which card? do you think the difference in RM 600 is worth?

and NP8130, i5-2410QM + Nvidia GTX560M + (1920x1080)@RM4099, FreeDOS [CPU Options: i5-2410M - i7-2860QM], wow 560m at 4.1k drool.gif

actually i am coming back here cause last nite my 5 years old lappy display chip snapped again and gave me lines and lines and lines when starting up, previously changed the chip once, the shop told me if spoiled again not worth to repair anymore, won't last long... cry.gif

miraculously, it is back to normal now! god, i hope it can tahan for some more time, many important work inside sweat.gif

may be it was overheated or something, but since the symptoms are appearing, in case it really have to retire, i am here to see if any unit that i should get sweat.gif

Previously bought the toshiba l745 for my sister, quite a good one i should say, for this one i am traveling with lappy a lot and do play games so i am looking at probably 14' with a good card. thanks for helping and reading the long text notworthy.gif

Nothing new laugh.gif

I wonder who's going to get this model laugh.gif
Asus K43By-VX048v, AMD E-450 + AMD HD6470@RM1699, W7HP, at that price range, there are better Intel-powered alternatives, with dedicated GPU summore haha~

Still, the i3 powered U36 seems quite interesting, its no doubt one of the cheapest subnotebooks with superb battery life thumbup.gif

Asus pricelist updated~
Nothing new laugh.gif

I wonder who's going to get this model laugh.gif
Asus K43By-VX048v, AMD E-450 + AMD HD6470@RM1699, W7HP, at that price range, there are better Intel-powered alternatives, with dedicated GPU summore haha~

Still, the i3 powered U36 seems quite interesting, its no doubt one of the cheapest subnotebooks with superb battery life thumbup.gif
Asus U36Sd-RX359v, i5-2330M + Nvidia GT520M@RM2299[1.78kg]; USB3.0 external OD, Asus optical mouse
*
K43BY would be more of a testament that for gaming, GPU > CPU.

The i3 U36SD would be something to note. Affordable, still powerful and just a beauty to behold. This model should offer better battery life compared to the i5 version as well.

So far there's no one from Mobile Computing who got their hands on the 3 series yet... though its a really interesting laptop I would say... Small, yet powerful...

Here's the product guide: http://event.asus.com/my/2011/productguide/PG_Oct_Nov.pdf

Yeah, U31/36 and U41/46 can give up to 10 hours battery life, though it depends very much on what you do while running on battery brows.gif

Hi I'm looking for a portable laptop similar to the HP dm1. Is the dm1 still the best in the market (in terms of price to performance ratio)? Are the new ultrabooks as cheap?

The new Ultrabooks start at around RM2.5k laugh.gif

Other alternatives to the Dm1 would be Dell's M102z and Asus 1215b nod.gif

Color options are not nice though sad.gif
And it seems like the 14z doesn't have VGA ports as well doh.gif

Just read some brief reviews on the 14z, some drawbacks:
- Glossy
- Dull color options
- Pointless port covers

The Intel Hd3000 performance is more or less around those of the Nvidia G310M/ ATI HD5450

Depends on which Nvidia or AMD GPU you are referring to lo laugh.gif
Of course its better than those which are a few years old haha laugh.gif
The Intel Hd3000 performance is more or less around those of the Nvidia G310M/ ATI HD5450

But given the option between having a discrete GPU and 30 minutes of extra battery life, which would you choose?

well, the previous product guide also stated 1366x768 but then the user got 1600x900 for the i5 version. try asking in the n45/55s club

I think GeForce G 310M is much faster than the HD 3000 as the latter got stuck in indie games like Minecraft (quite popular now).

Even my 5-year-old Radeon Xpress 1100 did not stuck in the game (of course with latest possible driver)

hi, some info for n55sf,

The price now is rm 2799 at lowyat for the new batch.

The previous batch is as below:

i5 2430m
4gb ram + upgrade to 8 gb
640gb hdd 5400 rpm
gt555m
1600x900
RM2699, can nego down more
ALL IT sold out, some small shops also sold out, MTCS, C-Zone and the ASUS corner 3rd floor still have some left.

The new batch is as below:

i5 2430m
4gb ram + upgrade to 8gb
750gb hdd 7200 rpm
gt555m
1600x900
RM2799, can nego down
possible to get it at RM 2699, depend on nego skill laugh.gif
Viewnet having promo from 19-23 oct. which includes the ram and some gift.
They provide RM 168 local warranty, so it will be ASUS 2 years + local viewnet 2 years = 4 years, can only choose to extend 1 year ASUS OR 2 years local, no double extension.

Some shops haven't get the new batch, will be coming today, or next week if late.
Anyway i think they might be promoting since the PC expo gonna be held on 3-5 Nov if i remember correctly.

So the conclusion, and extra RM 100 rrp, for 110gb increase in hdd space, a faster speed at 7200 rpm, so if you have >9000 gb external harddisk and don't care the nuts of the 110gb and gonna change ssd, then the previous batch may be better laugh.gif

otherwise the new batch is a good option too.

yesterday selling like hotcake, i went to ask them spec, the first word they say, sold out liao.
i was like, what did juuuu sayyyyy againnnn???? shocking.gif

and he repeat SOLD OUT LIAO.

mah goodness.... doh.gif

then they say today bring in more, apparently they brought in 20 yesterday, and if want need to deposit so won't be sold out again, or have to go early to hunt lerrr.

extra info, now the n45 is also using gt555m now at RM 2799, only the screen is 1366x768, otherwise the specs are the same. a good one if you need a 14 incher for better mobility thumbup.gif edit: thanks for Alex's correction notworthy.gif

they have some promo for toshiba, lenovo, acer, and macbook i think. can trade in old ram also, thought the price might be low.

so happy hunting guys. smile.gif

hp dv6-6168tx RM3999
i7-2670QM + AMD HD6770M 2gb + (1920x1080 Anti-glare) + Bluray + 1TB (5400rpm) + 8gb ram

asus n55sf-sx352v RM3699
i7-2670QM + Nvidia GT555M 2gb + (1368x768) + Bluray + 750gb (7200rpm) + 4gb ram

WHICH 1 is better?? Is HP's FULL HD + extra 250gb hardisk + extra 4gb ram worth $300? BUt the hardisk is slower...

hmm.gif

ANY suggestion on which to buy? Actually I kinda eye on HP's until this Asus comes along with a portable subwoofer and i cant make up my mind now smile.gif :-)

I infer from the removal of the N45SF from the product guide is a form of damage control until the problem is fixed. I don't have much doubts that it'll be back next month.

I'm really tempted to get one of these when I'm in the US. No need for a netbook anymore. laugh.gif

Anyways, sos for the U24E. http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/03/asus-ou...ain-i5-hunters/

As if the difference between 5400 and 7200 RPM is very noticeable. And have to see the bottom cover design, whether they made the case accessible. Doubt heat would be too much of an issue. My girlfriend's Vostro with a SB runs way cooler than my Arrandale.

Hahaha, import? laugh.gif

I am looking for a laptop at least 17" screen size. Spec or brand is not important. Price is important. Going to PC expo at mid valley today to see. If u guys got any comparison, pls help.

The Asus G74sx is great but the price is not. So I still need to do some leg work. Else it will be G74

Larger space, noneed spend so much R & D on squeezing all the components inside? laugh.gif
Or just plain promotional purposes because the 3450 seemed to be getting more attention than the 3550? Hard to say yo~

Usually different countries will get notebooks with different specifications.. its not just restricted to Lenovo.
Anyway, we got the input from hikari85, a reliable seller here in lowyat.net... the specifications should be correct nod.gif

Lenovo has a track record with the weakest GT555M so not gonna be too surprised with the 96SP, 128-bit GDDR5 version.

Its highly likely that its true I think because the old Y470 has been around for quite some time already hmm.gif

Notebookcheck's review on the Asus ZenBook Ux31 is out: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-Zenbook-...ew.65718.0.html

Seems rather impressive this one, with a lot of improvements compared to the S3 nod.gif

Attached Image

Another Notebookcheck's review on the Asus N55sf (spec differ from ours; why do they always get the goodies? =.=) http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Asus-N...ok.65915.0.html

Attached Image

Last but not least, Endgadget's review on the Lenovo Ideapad U300s: http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/13/lenovo-...d-u300s-review/
Not exactly as good as the Air and ZenBooks

Last week I also saw a Lenovo brochure in karamunsing KK which states the Y470 has a GT555. Called up Lenovo center but the guy said no GT555 for the Y470 and it was a typo.
Would be nice if it was true coz the only contender is the Asus N45SF. But the N45 has a cheap looking fingerprinting exterior and only comes with I5 for a more expensive price! And the Y470 has a real nice cooling system for all that gaming and no bios problems.

Anyone actually SAW a real life Y470/GT555?

We only have this in Malaysia: Asus N53Sn-SX269v, i7-2670QM + Nvidia GT550M@RM3299[Bang & Olufsen], USB3.0
...and its not with FullHD laugh.gif

You can try to import from Singapore though if you really want one nod.gif

Otherwise, can consider this: MSI GE620DX-FHD, i7-2670M + Nvidia GT555M + (1920x1080)@RM3299
