guys, can tell me how to determine which core is intel 1st gen or 2nd gen
*
how to determine..?

if you mean intel core i7/i5/i3 first generation... you can just determine it by it model number.

i.e -> i7 740QM / i5 560M / i3 380M

for 2nd generation... you can notice there are additional "2"

i.e -> i7 2920QM / i5 2400M / i3 2100M

the newer generation processor's codename is Sandy Bridge

Hi guys, I'm searching for a new laptop due to the death of my recent laptop sad.gif
I'm a student therefore portability is paramount.
During the weekends, I often play FPS/MOBA games, therefore I don't really need a great deal of a graphic card, ,maybe decent? No hardcore gaming here.
The speed of the laptop is as well vital. My budget is lies in the range between 3k to 4k .
So shoot me with suggestions ! I'm trying to find the perfect laptop here !!
Cheers !

few month old ~it is the first batch of a43TA...
if ur shop bring in the laptop very early..
that mean the laptop has been on every day as a demo set to display to customer..
== i don think it is worth to deal cos the laptop ON every day at less 8 hour right ?

Guys my sis asked me to help her buy a lappy. Here's what she wants

A long-lasting lappy (like 4-5 years long)
Budget around 2k-2.5k
She's a student
She's not a gamer so no need all the high end mumbo jumbo
She wants to be able to watch movies

Reason why very long-lasting like that is due to her old Acer laptop that she got from 2006 and still working till now. So she doesn't really trust any other brand other than Acer but just hit me with some recommendation.

Hi guys. looking for my first laptop here.

1. Preferred Brand: Anything that is good enough will do
2. Budget: RM2800
3. Usage: Normal working tasks, a bit of modest gaming like angry birds etc but still hoping for quite fast processor though (Intel preferred like i5 or i7 if price is right)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 13-14" LED

Additional info:

1. If possible I wish to have one with backlit keyboard

2. At least 640GB HDD

3. Last but not least if possible Bluetooth 4.0 as iPhone 4S uses BT 4.0

All of these directs me to Acer nice spec with relatively lower price, maybe like 4752G (RM1899) or 4755G (RM2799) but there's just so much of hooha that Acer is not good enough, overheating etc, how true is this?

Not sure about backlit keyboard though, I think Acer doesn't have it?

Thanks.

Hi. My laptop broke down just nice when I'm taking my final year project.
It's time for new one so here's what I need:

1. Preferred Brand
- Asus / Toshiba

2. Budget
- 2.3k tops

3. Usage
- Study essentials (programming and office)
- Multimedia (heavy Photoshop and music lover)
- Download paradise (I need loads internal storage)

4. Preferred laptop/screen size
- 14" - 15.6" will do

Additional info would be:
- I don't care USB 2.0 or 3.0 as long got 3 ports.
- RAM 3GB and up only.
- Graphic card is a must. ATI preferable. nVIDIA only if RAM >= 4gb smile.gif
- Intel processor. i-series preferable.
- Operating system is optional. Win7 preferred (if it affects cost, I don't mind freeDos suggestions)

THANKS!

Since portability isn't an issue, you can consider the Asus G53Sx as well bro thumbup.gif
G53Sx-S1208v, i7-2670QM + Nvidia GTX560M (2GB)@RM3999, backlit keyboard, gaming backpack & mouse *word has it that the screen is FullHD

Added on November 20, 2011, 10:25 pm

Can consider the HP Dv6 or Asus N55sf:
HP Dv6-6001TX, i7-2630QM + AMD HD6770M@RM2999 [2.63kg]; Beats headphones; RM2599 without Beats
Asus N55Sf-SX2353v [black], i5-2430M + Nvidia GT555m (2GB) + 1600x900@RM2799[Bang & Olufsen]; USB3.0, Sonic Master subwoofer

The Dv6 is better in terms of processing and gaming performance.
The Asus N55sf is better in having a higher resolution screen  smile.gif

Thanks for the recommendations. Where can I buy the HP Dv6 at that price?

Vostro 3450, i5-2430M + Intel HD3000@RM2299, W7HB,backlit keyboard, Belkin Radius 15.6" Backpack
