1. Preferred Brand: Asus.. Dun really mind actually.. anything reliable brand would do..
2. Budget: Below 2K..
3. Usage: MS Office, Browsing, Some Chemical Software, Presentations (lightweight & good batt life)..

I'm currently looking at Samsung 3 series [NP350U2B-A01MY/A02MY/A03MY], i3-2310M + Intel HD3000@RM1799 and Asus VX6S-ORA015M, Atom D2700 + AMD HD6470M@RM1799.. Any Recommendations?

Any thoughts on AMD E-450 processor in ASUS Eee PC 1215B or SONY Vaio Y series??

The Samsung 3 series would have the better CPU performance out of all those model..

Yeah, the 3 series is better. Also, you can consider Lenovo's Ideapad Z370 as well
Since you're using chemical softwares, I believe having a better processor would be more important. So you might want to consider laptops with Sandy Bridge instead

Any known issues with Samsung Laptop so far? One more issues with the Samsung Series 3, they dun have VGA out.. only mini VGA and HDMI.. is there a converter for VGA out? cos I'll be using this laptop for presentations, most LCD projectors nowadays still uses VGA..

I'll try to check on your recommendation but based on Dell's website the Vostro 3450, i5-2430M at RM2299 no longer comes with Belkin Radius 15.6" Backpack. It's a separate purchase

Not much user on that Samsung model..
If you need VGA, can consider the Dell Vostro V131..

Well, the Acer don't have backlit keyboard..

2. Budget: around RM2.2k
3. Usage: MS Office, Browsing, Photoshop, lightroom, simple gaming
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14 or 15 or 17
5. Requirement: Would be great if the keyboard has numpad included

If backlit isn't in the requirement, will you recommend an Acer? Is throttle issue exists in every of their model?

The throttling problem seems to be on the 4830TG model(but only when you start stressing both CPU and GPU), the other model, doesn't seems to have complaint on that aspect.

At your budget, I won't really recommend the Acer unless budget is your concern, the Lenovo Y470 on garage sales seems more attractive and it also has easy access for cleaning maintenance..

3. Usage: For Word, Excel, PDF (no heavy usage/no game)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14"
5. 1GB ram also can, since upgrade quite cheap
6. Low HDD is OK
7. HDMI port is bonus if can get
8. What important is fastest CPU i can get with RM1300
