1. Preferred Brand
2. Budget 3. Usage 4. Preferred laptop/screen size 1. Currently looking at Asus as I have tried on Lenovo and Acer. If any other suitable brands that meets my requirement I am glad to know about it too. 2. Budget around RM 3K 3. For software like AutoCAD and games like Civilization V & preparing for DotA 2. 4. 14" and higher. But the weight should not exceed 3kg preferably. Hope to get replies soon! Btw, I have an eye on Asus N55SF and N53SN-SX269V. I have another question is that i7 core and i5 core is there much different if I am to use the laptop for AutoCAD and games like Civilization & DotA2? Your kindness is greatly appreciated! |

Preferred Brand for one thing, it's dual core against quad core. so imo you will benefit from extra cpu power for AutoCAD and any other cpu intensive stuff. for gaming, gt555m should be able to handle all the game with good fps. May I know anyone here tried Lenovo G770? Any comments on the reliability?
17.3 Inch @ RM26xx seems pretty good for a big size screen(usually 17inch >4K), and the spec isnt that bad either. Only problem is the battery life which remain 6 cells. Any other recommendation for laptop that has big screen size < RM3K budget? the cheaper the better. I dont really care about performance as I will be using it for web surfing, youtube, movie only, so screen size does really matters here, may be battery life as well. |

Most of the 17" laptops here are more expensive than RM3k However, for a 15" laptop, the Inspiron 15R would be a great choice, you can use some of the remaining money to extend the warranty to 3 years~ Inspiron 15R (N5050), B950 + Intel HD3000@RM1659 Inspiron 15R (N5050), i3-2330M + Intel HD3000@RM1739 *Do take note that the larger the screen size, the shorter the battery life |

And If N55SF i7 core compare with N53 i7 core( the difference is only the graphic card) which is more worth for its money? The i7 variant for the N55sf is not particularly worth it because the i7, weirdly as it seems, uses a normal HD screen (the i5 variant uses a matte, HD+ screen instead)..In between the n55sf (i7) and the n53sn, it all boils down to which one you like more lo... The former does have a better gpu and comes with an additional subwoofer |

QUOTE(Boldnut @ Oct 18 2011, 03:10 PM) yeah, thats what I saw in the garage sales, just wondering if such cheap price and is the reliability is good enough for a nice 5yrs usage or not. actually is better for you to extend the warranty to 3 years.Any other alternatives that beat this? Cant seems to find any. for RM2600,dont expect can use up to 5 years, but at least is worth it QUOTE(Kelv @ Oct 18 2011, 03:14 PM) Lenovo G770Intel Core i5-2430M/4GB/750GB/AMD HD6550M(2GB)/17.3"/W7HP@RM2599 This post has been edited by marcus20125: Oct 18 2011, 03:20 PM |

So I am stuck with G770 So far? if I want cheap big screen laptop? No other choices? anyone?
I been looking either MSI 15.6 Zacate or this one. 17.3 I am not sure if the extra 1.7inch of screen size is justify the twice pricing and significant reduced battery life. |
