I advised my bro in law against buying proton cars coz bad experience with persona bought brand new couple of years back. Fortunately he followed my advice and bought a sentra. Told him buying car depend on luck. Late last year his younger brother bought a full spec preve. At dealer shop the car is already having a problem. The reverse sensor mulfunction. It countinuosly beeping even without any obstruction. 7 days his preve 'stucked' at SC.

Now, i'm gambling and go against my own advise. Going to get an Alza for replacement for my Persona. Wish me luck sweat.gif

I hope I will get a good Alza. Alza received a Best Model of the Year from Frost and Sullivan while Persona only get value for money whistling.gif .

About time the car manufacturers start owning up to their so called quality control standards. To take a 5 to 9 year loan and paying even more adding in the interest and still need to pray car lemon or not is just not acceptable.

Out of maybe 10,000 car, maybe 1 is rotten... but not in the case of Alza... I'd say only out of 10, you can find 1 rotten...

So you can imagine why I would not recommend this car... brows.gif brows.gif vmad.gif

So if you're lucky enough, don't jinx it like you want to experience those rattling pillar sounds... They're not pleasant to the ears... They can even drive you to road rage...

That's a 10% probability rate of getting a lemon unit. Sigh, was close to deciding on the alza already but after reading this thread, I'm considering other options

This is why some say the schooling system is by the rich and powerful, creating a social norm for everyone to follow. If you don't think alike, then you are not the same, thus you are different and hence an outlaw or renegade. So coming back to the car, if you cannot accept such statistics then you are not alike. But why must we accept such idealism? If you go to a clothing shop, or book shop, etc... if the clothing, or book has defect then it is on discount, such as FOS or annual book clearance fair like the big bad wolf book fair.

Some might argue the value, some might argue the amount, or others... whichever the argument goes, it leads back to the same thing: Accept what is generally accepted by others. If not, then you are not the same, hence different. And since humans are social animals, no one dare / wants to be labelled different.

I for one will not accept the quality idea. Whose money is not real money? If I pay for a good car, I get a good car. I don't pay 100% price and get 80% car, or even a 99% car. Would you accept it if you buy a book, but only 99/100 pages is there, with the last page missing? Or if you buy a new phone, it is chipped on the side, a minor one.. would you accept it even though the statistic they show you is 1/1,000,000 ???

Been getting a lot of those VW complains lately, but since European marques prefer new techs over reliability, that is to be expected... But as for gamenoob's claims of "creaking" problems, I really have to go hmm.gif hmm.gif Are all VW cars now CKD'ed apart from the new Passat...?

A Honda Insight CBU from Japan has a very soft "creaking" sound from the dashboard, but that's a minimalist. Alza on the other hand, is irritating enough to drive you into a road rage. I can practically identify the rattling sounds, from inside dashboard, both storage compartments, the stereo HU, the pillars, the seatbelts, the black box on the trunk door, aft storage compartments etc... No kidding, this is on a brand-new Alza, and it rides like a 10-year old abused tin can...

Look for Sam in KL Auto (the acclaimed Autofoam and SP expert) who regretfully bought his Alza, complained to me of various "musical concerto" he has with his car since day one... Poor fella...!

Perodua while utilising Toyota and Daihatsu's old tech, things should be reliable... but look at this... gearbox problem, engine misfiring problem... Do you think I should go hmm.gif hmm.gif or vmad.gif vmad.gif ...? A mechanic of mine got a shock when I told him my Alza is problematic even down to Jap techs... Engine misfiring due to faulty Denso Iridium plugs...! Faulty gearbox from Daihatsu...?

He asked me, how could that be...? Jap techs are reliable what...

As for QC, no doubt CKD cars are shit... CKDs are basically cars that missed out a lot of things...

Even my old Toyota Camry which was CKD'ed and branded CBU by UMW, QC is already shit even only after 6 years... but their Jap parts are fine...

Perodua is basically hopeless when it comes to QC and CS... Ever since their runaway success of the first MyVi, QC went downhill... CS, anything to do with warranty claims, they will not call you... They will only call when there's something to sell... Most often I have to call back to follow up... Even now they still couldn't figure out why the pillars rattled after 2 years of complaining...

Loads of other people will say the same with other brands and their respective distributors, as long as they're run by cronies... End of the day it's the Malaysian mindset...

PS: Right now I'm still trying to identify the cause of the high speed vibration I'm getting... Rims' fine, alignment and balancing done, donuts' fine... Perodua checked engine mounting, drive shaft, and suspensions, equally fine... So is Alza safe to drive...? Not with mine... doh.gif doh.gif

I did ask them to check thoroughly during my routine alignment and balancing session... Nothing out of the ordinary....

Time to go for a second opinion I guess...?

Most of us end up with Alza because...

for my reason, it was affordability vs function.

other mpv was too damm pricey for daily(once a while long distance) use.

Anybody tot of Exora?
