Well with that style of b****ing over the last 100 pages, one can certainly assume... Then again it's the Internet full of half lies and half truth and with some pint of pretension.... Goes figure.

Yvonne, if 60k is what you have.. Then buy something that you can manage and afford to maintain. Don't fall for all these bs euro Conti ride quality. you will cursed and swear as bad as our euthanasia bro when u go for euro ride without preparation. If u think what posted is bad here, just go and read about their issues... And best of all they have reply like proton. "it's a Malaysian problem.. We don't have this problem in Germany so it must be user fault..." mind you these ride cost a lot. Their service center is also limited in nos.
If die die also want euro or American, for the bucks ford fiesta seems vfm. Rv is decent and also service n warranty coverage. But also problem with limited sc.

tyenfei, can enlighten me how to dismantle the cd/player?

today i stuck half way there after removing the 2 screws below the cd player, pulling from bottom of the cd player doesn't pull off the whole thing, it still seems very tight on top. Anything miss out?

I want to put some sponge into it..

On the other hand, anyone has idea how to solve the B-Pillar noise? I still can't figure the solution yet..

I'm still not prepared to go for those euro/american car. ya, you are right. I'm looking for a car that I can manage and afford to maintain. That's why I choose Alza smile.gif I'm just wondering do it worth if I go for car year 2012? Since my SA offer me RM3000 discount + free safety tinted (must register in dec 2012). 2more weeks, it will be 2013 hmm.gif

Not really a proven solution yet, but have you tried taking out the plastic cover and whack some insulflex material on the tip of the pillar metal...?

Now that could be a problem if you like or rather got used with contis... handling, comfort, quietness... All of which are absent on the Alza... Have you tried sourcing used cars...? Most of my friends are now aware of how sucky local cars are and they sourced pre-loved imported cars instead... I regretted buying this car and wished I had did the same.

I don't know why but I suspect your SA could be desperate about hitting year end commission or bonuses or something... But 3k is ok for me, though not enough to offset the RV... Money saved can be used to change the damn noisy tyres, stuff in some soundproofing material, and add a strut bar or foam the car chassis for added ride comfort... I've already spent 4.5k on these, and waiting to spend another 3k to finish the job... All these for Perodua's false impression of "It's a Passion" motto... You may spend a lot less on these if you know how to DIY...

And make sure you allocate enough time to go in and out of service centers... in case the gearbox dies, or whatever problems (that might occur) that are listed on the first post of this thread...
*
I did test drive the Alza twice. The handling/performance, it is acceptable. Quietness, I plan to change the tyre once I got my new car. I just can't stand with its stock tyres. As other minor issue (rattling sound), is still acceptable (myb DIY/rectify to SC). My main concern will be engine and the gearbox.

I saw many ppl said the battery water will leak out and may raise gearbox issue. I'm wondering should I change it? If yes, which brand of battery will be better for alza? and the model?

Battery change only if there's a leak. So far mine has no leakage after 23 months of use, though the metal near the engine compartment still rust like one kind... It may also have something to do with the widespread reported problem of uneven paint from manufacturing source. P2 can solve that problem, like I said, be prepared to go a few days without car.

Speaking of which, @tyenfei, my battery survived your expected 30 hours run-in with your VS, what's the probability of it dying soon...? 55 hours and counting...

Need some recommendation on tyres notworthy.gif

I'm looking for comfort/quiet/silent + performance (dry/wet - concerning). Normally, drive maximum 120km/h.

1) Conti CC5
2) XM2
3) PS3
4) C. Drive 2
5) other??

Which one would be better?? notworthy.gif

Thanks for your information biggrin.gif Then I will keep an eye on the battery, whether to change it or claim from SC if there is any leakage thumbup.gif

Conti CC5, XM2 - quiet, last longer, but don't expect performance... using XM2 on my myvi, feels like gliding on maglev when on perfectly tarred road, though i still feel myvi road noise insulation is much better than alza...

PS3 - slightly little noisier than XM2 (a little "swooshing" sounds), but grip is good for both wet and dry... this is on my alza... careful when cornering with alza... body roll is shakehead.gif shakehead.gif on stock... tongue.gif

the rest i leave for others to comment...

Yeah that's after putting those insulflex material.. Maybe I need to try the suggested solution from Delloyd79, he back then mentioned it was caused by the door latch thingy.. Let me try first.. brows.gif

With any luck, you should be able to push 35k to 40k km... Which reminds me, I need to rotate mine. I've done 17k already in the last 13 months...

I got mine for 230 a piece back in Nov last year, took PS3 since XM2 at that time was 220 a piece - just 10 bucks extra per piece. I believe recently someone quoted here 250 a piece for PS3... Go trade in with your stock tyres while they're still new...

buying alza this year 2012 got rm3k discount..but next time u want to trade in/sell it car value estimation base on year 2012 age..so maybe rm1k~rm1.5 less than 2013 car value... up to you either to buy at 2012 or 2013...

Hahaha.. My friend's avanza battery died oledy. When he jacked it, ok.. but after a while die again. Went to workshop, foremen said it is the VS fault. True enough. Take out the VS. Test run for 2 days, battery ok. Foremen advised to add in Ground Cable.

But he was to stingy for RM120.. or those <$30 GC. Bad news is , He blame the EDGE VS thingy.

Good news is, i offer myself to buy his VS. Got 20% discount. 2nd hand mah.. And its already run for several hours.

oh yeah.. now, he is bit confuse.. because he enjoy REVVING, after installing the VS.

yes... major problem is the road noise...

But there are some people who did kao kao on SP without changing noisy stock tyres... but that's not on the alza... that's on the mazda 3... downside is, heavy SP will result in uncomfortable heavy pressure feel inside the cabin...

and heavy SP also increases weight too..

And in some extreme SP like auto foam injection type, it will render your future dismantle and servicing a nightmare... and some SC has known to reject dealing with such car...

The CC5 donut make huge difference la on the road noise...

I already mentioned in my sales thread. about 2-3% chances you may face battery issue. And I did list out few options what to do. It is a process of "battery recovering". If ok then continue to use, if not just change new one then your new battery are good to go for a long~ time unless u only drive 2~3 times a month doh.gif
