For me, I never expected sound proof will be good for this 5-doors compact MPV. As you mentioned about the built quality, it was not as good as toyota or even daihatsu but still yet better than proton except chassis toughness.
My car was auto EZi, stock & non-modify, spark plug, air filter and 10W/30 API SM used standard as spec written. I managed to clocked at RM 0.15 / km or 12.6km / L (Light and moderate foot) , jam 3 hours a day to pj and back home daily. 1. Sound proof, Perodua Alza 2011 already w/roof sound proof, those before 2011 that can report to P2 and have them to install it FOC. Don't give high expectation on 5 doors local made compact MPV. Due to cost constraint, all had been removed to minimal if compare to Toyota Passo Sette. SO, PLEASE DON'T EXPECT CABIN NOISE WILL BE QUIET AS 4-DOORS SEDAN! 2. Power to weight ratio, not as good as 1NZ-FE engine but enough to move it freely. For me, I felt it was ok if compare to heavier proton exora. 3SZ-VE was good in low to mid torque, sufficient for town use. 1NZ-FE was full aluminium engine where else 3SZ-VE was cast iron engine. Both different in material and of course the cost to built it. Therefore performance and FC will be slightly different. 3. Chassis toughness, only met Daihatsu Total Advanced Function compliant, proton was better than perodua! http://www.daihatsu-aichi.co.jp/en/daihatsu-cars/ 4. Seldom got weird problem. 3SZ-VE well known to be used in Toyota and Daihatsu. I can said much more steady and reliable than campro series engine. Gearbox, it happened to some unlucky owner, just claim P2 and shoot email to via perodua website. I sent 3 email, they call me 3 times and I question them why P2 charge me for sound proof to be install for 4 doors as it was min. requirement for manufacturer to install it before the car delivered. P2 speechless and start talking alien words. Money was major issues. Perodua Alza was economically compact mpv in terms of price and costs of ownership w/minimal running cost. We need money pay other stuff such as house, children, parents and daily expenses; really not all people can use their wages to enjoy the fun of cars and yet cars was 100% depreciate asset than houses. You afford, you buy can choose expensive and better one. Not afford, get the one can serve your daily purpose. No choice. |

I think Perodua with the Alza model, they're beginning to neglect safety issue... Agreed with you, local excised tax and cost of built material was an issues. Everything seem to be alright will increase the cost, you can found this from new perodua myvi se/extreme 1.5, that's why selling at the price can get perodua alza... because material used was better than alza. But Perodua never well-known for safety and chassis toughness, Proton performed very good job in chassis and handling over perodua but reliability and fuel comsuption you can't denied perodua is better. You choose which one? Your decision indeed! Depends to what your own judgement and point of view. I choose over perodua alza over proton exora PRICE (Compact MPV and cheaper than Exora leh) RELIABILITY w/minimal defect (Excluded chassis toughness and sound proof) MORE ON TOWN USAGE (I never treat it like Toyota Wish cause it definitely cannot race) HANDLING (Please look for sedan, MPV never met handling expectation) FUEL CONSUMPTION (Consider better than others mid sized MPV such as Exora, Citra, Innova and Avanza) Campro engine not steady. IAFM seem like wear and tear stuff and need to be replace after certain mileage. Campro CPS required VIM to run with and somemore campro tend to be not good to use in town due to the engine characteristic Currently, Proton is planning to develop a new engine known as the code name "Family Y engine" with option of displacement between 1.2l, 1.5l, and 1.8l all in the variant of either natural aspirated or in force induction type. The existing Campro engines which are limited to 1.3L and 1.6L engine options only will be EOL (End of Life) soon... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campro Proton really treat the owner like white mouse and experiment. They invent so call new model and market them for testing and tend to phase out the model simply. Proton Tiara, Proton Juara, Proton Savvy, Proton Waja 1.8 was the very truth example. Obvious different between 1NZ-FE and 3SZ-VE
- Lightweight, thermoplastic intake manifold - Air filter - Cylinder head - Plastics and Hoses - Engine components arrangement You can ask people who know about car, ask them which picture of engine was nice to see. This post has been edited by pciericagp: Oct 12 2011, 05:37 PM |

QUOTE(Eithanius @ Oct 12 2011, 07:12 PM) After 4 Perodua cars, I've always thought of that, but ever since the Alza, I would really doubt that statement... OK, can I know what is your decision?
