just got my n55sf, with 640gb 5400rpm(cant wait for 7200rpm oredi),
everything run so smooth, boottime takes only25 sec, havent really burnt the recovery disc yet, short of dvd-r sad.gif  oh by the way I dont see any warranty card in the box, but I have registered my product with ASUS member thingy online, is that enough already?

The subwoofer was amazing, produce decent bass sound although it look damn small, finally I can carry a subwoofwer around  (thought it was not working, then have to push in DEEPER!), havent got chance to test any games yet,

oh and which GPU driver I should use now? how I know I am using 555m for playing game and not the intel hd3000? and i dont see the green or grey icon in the notification bar, pls explain to me thanks smile.gif

Evening everybody smile.gif Just double checking, has the N45 really been EOL-ed? Its not in the new brochure.. blink.gif notebooks in KK arent really that "up to date". sad.gif Takes forever for new models to reach.Any N45 users who can confirm that the 218 BIOS has fixed the throttling issue? Have read previous posts, seems like its gone. How bout the N55? Any complaints? Tempted to just get the old batch..

@ cheese, at lowyat they just brought in new batch, may be not so fast eol, but not sure if after this batch finish. as previous batch it should be fixed already.

I need some help from N55 owner, i wanted to do a clean reformat of my n55, but i can't get to the delete partition part as Simon has mention in the first page. After i put in the dvd, it just went to the airecovery, although i have uninstall already, then it ask about the language everything, and continue by itself and install all softwares back, i can't choose what to install or not. it didn't even need me to install the driver all that, and all the trendmicro and other bloatwares just came back.

How can i do a clean one to throw everything and choose what i want? Or just can uninstall afterwards? cuz the boot time is quite slow, around 45-50s, compared to simon's 28s. even the wei is just 4.6 or 4.8 i think after uninstall those bloatware and clean the registry.

is there any thing i should pay extra attention?

I did my clean format and partition everything using Partial Magic.Google it around,u have to burn it into a disc and then boot it to use it.

Update the latest Nvidia driver and ur WEI should jump to 5.9.But u might have to mod the inf file to install the driver properly.Guides is in the front page.

If u wan to have faster boot time,u have to tweak a bit.Google around on how to tweak Windows 7.One of the tips is disabling indexing and Aero. But i prefer to have them and i dont mind 40-50 seconds boot time since i dont shut down my notebook much smile.gif

Hey guys, i think the latest Bios didnt solve the whole problem. Play games using only battery is lag. Although we are not playing games with battery, but i think this model is flawed no matter what bios we are using.

can you all try running games with only battery on and without the adaptor?

Guys I feel the temperature of my laptop went up after updating the bios. Before updating in idle mode and high performance was around 40 and in gaming was around 70-75 but now when it is idle is around 50 and in gaming around 80-85.
Are you facing this problem?

Hello, I'm new to this forum and topic.

I have few questions before buying N45SF to the owners - did BIOS update solve the problems? Would you buy it now again if you would look for a new notebook?

And most important to me: if I'll buy N45SF I'd like to swap HDD to SSD, are there any problems with it? Is N45SF compatible with SATA 3 to gain the max write/read speed of approximately 500 MB/s, which some SSD's offer?

thats normal, coz now finally our card can run with full potential. Last time it keep limited like underclock or usage cannot reach 99%. Now it can run at full potential ady thats why ur temperature will be higher a bit compare to last time. So no worries xD

- the bios218 update is for a fix on N45 which have problems...so far i think there's not one of N55 here got problem or wutsoever...

Those who using N55 lag when play games, maybe bcos of settings & some software making the game lag? try double check..

So far the bios218 solved N45 problem, including mine.

For those who wanna buy N45 & dun hav stock, i can ask for you. Heard that my place have stock BUT its at ipoh.

I see, thanks for the heads up. smile.gif According to the salesperson at the store ASUS recalled the old batch of N45s (from this particular store), and those currently sitting there are the new ones, supposedly fixed, don't know how true is that. hmm.gif Anybody having heat issues? Gathered from previous posts the left side heats up, both for the N45/55. True?

Argh wish I was in KL tongue.gif

You will need to use Windows 7 disc, not the recovery disc you burnt..

Battery has limited life cycle, the more you use it, the faster it wear down.
But if you don't use it, it also will be dead laugh.gif
