QUOTE(XPAWNED01 @ Aug 29 2011, 09:55 AM) ![]() QUOTE(Sai91 @ Aug 29 2011, 12:44 PM) U will never know how hard I am to draw female in the past,my drawing was just male, getting boring,so when I was 14 or 15,well when Im starting to mature, hormones are acting up,U know what I did, secretly drawing sexy female,it was sucks,so I was determined to do a research, saw a brilliant woman drew by Masamune Shirow, man the curve! Then I started to build up my style by studying female illustrations by artists that I like.My suggestion is just copy the style of female drawings by your favorite artist, then U can build up ur style.Good luck. |

Imagine the face shaped like a pear (not 100% like one but just roughly). It's not completely round but slightly curved inwards at the eye part. Second thing is his/her left cheek looks swollen. Mouth and nose need to be in the centre (regardless of how distorted some of the anime look, never copy 100% or you will be stuck with it). You also need to practise on creating smooth strokes rather than breaking the lines. Since you have tablet already, suggest practising and explore the pen sensitivity option. QUOTE(chinti @ Sep 2 2011, 02:49 PM) other character la. adui or no need anime style also can, using western comic style also same one, since you said hair. basically the theory of the hair pretty much same. unless you go draw power puff girls, dragon ball, pokemon those hair style and if the tablet is too hard for you, try use back pencil first. it is easier. once you can draw well in traditional stuff, the digital will pretty much fast to learn to master it , i mean pen stroke. And really you need a lot of practise on those works of yours (depend on your age as long as you are not around high school age yet). Try to do some real life art before venturing into manga or anime style.no improvement at all? |

Heh, I uploaded an old tutorial about how to construct a manga/comic-style face. It's kind of old, but I'm told that it's still very useful, so I'm just sharing it here.
I used a very simple formula of lines and shapes that allows you to create proportionate faces, because when I made this tutorial it was in response to a friend asking me how to make a manga face that is stylized, but still has "good" or "semi-real" proportion (Image under spoiler because it's a literally "long" tutorial). » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(Sai91 @ Sep 11 2011, 02:10 AM) I think the nose is okay,no need to worry about it,just the line work and the shading is wrong.Agito's idea of changing the drawing to his own preference is not good,it neglected the original artist's way of drawing. I mean thats not anime.Try to work on the line at the nose part. To spice up ur drawing, add more details on the eyes and the lips, also the necklace. |

But props for you when u did all this in lunch time only. If only you post a serious drawing,I can judge your skill, but judging by this piece, you need more practice. |

sorry for being out of topic awhile but i just want to say here. hope no offense @_@"
i'm in a doujin circle group and plan to release our first art book. the title will be '1/2 Human'. while the members seem to be busy/didnt get ideas what to draw, so i'm trying to find a few guest artist to join if any willing. let just say there is no payment for this do ignore this if you find it not in your interest >_<" as it is like no benefits much except a free copy =X. i actually plan to make a little payment (very little to you as most of you are at professional rate) as well but only after i get back my cost. though this is a first attempt so i not sure if i able to even get back the cost so fast or maybe didnt get at all. thats why i must assume there is no payment i can give for now >_< |

anything to your wild imagination, that is in the '1/2 human' concept. means anything that looks like human but actually not human. xD example mermaid, taurus, elf, the 12 zodiac, myth, or any anime/manga/virtual/original character that is in that concept like flandre scarlet (touhou), vocaloid (not human but most people might look it as human so need to do something to make it look like not, example with wires plug or something) and so on.
i'm not being very particular on your concept as long it is 1/2 human but QC still applies of coz xD if want more example, agito have made some sketch. not sure he post here before or not though @_@ A4 size, 300 dpi.. er not sure what else. psd, pdf, tiff or any format that is appropriate |

anyway, a bit more sharing, this is a screencap of some fanart I'd been working on (Image under spoiler for size): » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « It's a work-in-progress of the character Thane, from Mass Effect 2 |

It's a pretty good game. Thin on the story, although thicker than most shooter games. The gameplay is very fun, very polished, and even if you're not a hardcore shooter fan it's still nice to, because some of the abilities in the game are "auto-target" |

Guys, I have a suggestion to spice this thread up a notch. Since it is called "Art Attack" why not make it look like one. With exception a few, this thread is slowly turning into "Doodle Attack". I find couple of works here that I just itching to re-make my own. Everyone can do the same and let see who is better (of course with critism and critiques). Of course there should be some rules to follow. One such rule I think of now is those who wish to see their work re-make should put in a word like "Doodle" to give us the permission.

Cant agree more, they should be more serious,I think they are impatient to show that they are talented.Added on September 19, 2011, 5:09 pm QUOTE(Benny-T @ Sep 19 2011, 12:09 PM) doodling is a form of an idea U shouldnt be that stingy to share, although this is local thread that the world is not viewing, you can always share, but well, dont do art because of this thread.just an unrefined one if i'm going to complete a super detailed artwork the thing is i'm not going to post here for the sake of the thread that surely will be going to my cgtalk portfolio to me im having alot of fun looking at other's idea how people can come out with interesting stuff im learning from all of you gusy regardless of doodle or complete art This post has been edited by Adamiquesce: Sep 19 2011, 05:09 PM |

QUOTE(LeechFever @ Sep 19 2011, 09:46 AM) Guys, I have a suggestion to spice this thread up a notch. One such rule I think of now is those who wish to see their work re-make should put in a word like "Doodle" to give us the permission. i dont mind if but all output will be sketches. |

If our (or me myself) idea is doodle or sketch-kind of art at the moment, why should bother going detail with it?Even sketches are art, so please be thoughtful. Again, I mean no offense here. tiny bit of overlay only me thinks. overlay for color messes up the values so i don't use it much. color wash then opaque paint on normal layer works better.

I apologize for the late reply. I was at Mdec's IPCC event today, and its full of disappointments. Despite that, there's alot of fun and exciting parts too. That's another story.
Benny> The method of drawing marvel/dc style isn't that different from drawing normally, except that the shadows are more linear and 'high contrast' to certain extent. However the artist should define the lines properly as the pencils they normally do will be passed on the inker to be inked. They should keep in mind that lines are not scratchy, double-lined or too much gradient effect (transition from light to dark) as this will make the inker pissed off, confused and utterly destroy your work. In a sense, your work should be clean, defined and readable. There's a few methods to do this, though. And all of them requires deep understanding of anatomy, lighting and dynamic shots and angles. However knowledge of architecture, mechanical, and fashion is added plus. The first method normally what people do: Draw straight on the board. However i do not like this method because it can be wasteful, since if i change my mind in the middle of artwork, there's no CRTL+Z for it. Make sure you're really comfortable and confirm with the layout that you want, and work on it until its finished. The second method involves a LightBox. Its tedious, backbreaking and difficult, Technically you're working twice for one page. First, draw the page on a different piece of paper, then use the lightbox to trace the drawing onto the drawing board. I rather use this method since i still can change and move around the layout just in case i'm not happy about it. However the result are normally impressive. You can get a very clean lines and usually impress alot of editors out there. To be honest, its hard for me to explain through the forum, since i prefer coaching one by one. But put this as a base: The shadows are normally solid black, and the lines that comes out (see that lines sticking out?) those are gradient lines, since everything needs to be defined by inklines later. Its called feathering, by the way. The line thickness dictates the distance from the camera. I hope it does make sense to you. If you can show me your work, then i can comment more. |

QUOTE(Keiichi @ Sep 21 2011, 09:13 PM) I apologize for the late reply. I was at Mdec's IPCC event today, and its full of disappointments. Despite that, there's alot of fun and exciting parts too. That's another story. another questionBenny> The method of drawing marvel/dc style isn't that different from drawing normally, except that the shadows are more linear and 'high contrast' to certain extent. If you can show me your work, then i can comment more. im able to emulate the lightbox method on photoshop but not the control of the strokes i tried to make a pencil brush but it differs too much from the real one do you still do it manually or digitally? i have not tried to do a pencilling work before but i'm still exploring it how do it an awful attempt i did earlier this month » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by Benny-T: Sep 22 2011, 04:43 PM |

Probably. The background's going to be a "deep space" background. Need to finish that before I work more on the character. @ Adam Getting paid, yes, for someone who'd seen my work and wanted me to paint her character for her. |

@ Agito:
LOL she isn't meant to look "cute" or "sweet", or even beautiful. She's a soldier-type character who's in her late twenties (almost thirty) and who has been in a lot of wars. The client wanted a raw, unkempt kind of good looks and not polished beauty. |

LOL Agito, I imagine sci-fi setting type soldiers who fight most of the time in full body armour (complete with helmet) don't REALLY need to keep their hair short.
