just playing around with shapes/brushes until i notice a pattern and go on with that. just going with the flow, more often than not i end up with creatures .. sometimes mechs and junk , depending on what i've been seeing

Sometimes that "goes with the flow" approach works best. Especially when doing concept work. Also works well for drawing organic forms like cliffs or mountains or trees, but of course SOME planning and fixing is needed to get a pleasing composition and image.

im planing on PC upgrade
currently running on this spec

Processor Intel® Core™2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz
Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB 5.5
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5600 Series 7.0
Gaming graphics 1919 MB Total available graphics memory 7.0
Primary hard disk 9GB Free (49GB Total)
Windows 7 Ultimate

im a multi tasker type

i do video converting - alot
animation studio - medium
gaming - minimum.. but if i do play game its will probably HD games
loves to watch HD video on PC
and most important thing is that its for Drawing

i try to avoid Photoshop , since my PC cant handle the workload im giving it... so most of the time im using sai, but i cant work above 3500x3500 pixel if i did it, after getting to 27 or 28 layer it will crash insanely .. like every 2 or 3 min

and video and animation video converting,
usually takes about 2 hour to do video processing and converting

any recommendation on a new setup?

i was thinking maybe an AMD APU A380 or intel CPU i5 2500

get window 7 64bit system

i7, 12 to 16 gig ram. there were already 64bit version of photoshop. so it will be good in your situation where u use alot of photoshop

my 1 year old pc was i7 950, 12 gig ram, using old display card gtx 260.

i5 760 has more cache but its hard to find now.. but 2500k is a great choice.. go for 16gb ram as theyre cheap now.. as for gpu.. cant go wrong with gtx 460. basically thats my pc's spec haha

Added on October 15, 2011, 2:00 pmamd kinda loses out in multi tasking except the bulldozer but again it might be out of reach as well

i5 is a great choice, but for some reason AMD APU 380 has a similar performance to i5 and the APU price is RM 468 compare to i5 2500k CPU is RM 630
FM1 motherboard also cheaper with great feature compare to intel motherboard

but the fusion chip APU from AMD is relatively new,
i guess ill wait a little longer, if im a super rich person i definatly go for i7 CPU but sadly im not sad.gif

amd apu 380? isnt that for laptops? i know bout llano 3850 tho... yes it has better built in graphic performance as compared to the intel 2500K. however in terms of processing and memory performance, it still quite far behind intel's lead. its better to use a dedicated pci-e GPU as well since there's hardware acceleration in photoshop cs4 onwards

Latest work. I'm aware that there are anatomy problems, haha. I've decided to drop this and move on.
