lol bonchi,I find the hair is the most fun part, but if you want it to be more detailed, then be patient.
I've saw a guy who stop his drawing because the hair makes him crazy.

@dreadlock Im both, fusion hahahhaa, so u dont like realism huh?

@ Bonchi

No real way around plain ol' hard work if you want to get all those details in.

Although I must ask, are you painting them in strand by strand or something? blink.gif

am using the bristle brush but yea... still strand by strand sweat.gif ... some tutorial i find online using smudge to draw hair.. yes its faster but the edges are blury. guess there's no other way then sad.gif

I'm fusion too. Though personally I find realism art based on photos somewhat ......uninspiring. If you already have a photo out of something, why paint it, is what I would normally think whenever I see this kind of art (except potrait painting based on life model). Potrait painting of the dark skinned woman by dragonreine is one example I find inspiring.

wahaha,u spoke my mind, but I guess,it is some form of exercise.
exercising your knowledge about how human and the surrounding really like.
I personally take an interesting photo, and make it as reference,I tend to change it the way I like and fixed what's already cool.

@agito yeah I know who's that, the girl from digimon aite?

@agito thnx ... the images you showed me made me confirmed that there's no easy way to do hair ><

for me.. i just like turning photos into those.... painted movie posters sweat.gif. I still cant really draw anime characters/concept characters on photoshop yet.. the brushes makes it look kinda awkward to me ..some what looks real but with weird anime eyes.. i intend to keep touching up till it ends up looking like a freak of nature. i guess i still need to learn more but ive got no one to guide me sad.gif ... never been through any art classes, all these while its all trial and error.

so for cartoon/anime i usually, ink, scan or sketch in photoshop and export to illustrator to vector trace and paint it there doh.gif which is much easier for me

Don't be mistaken. It does not need to be anime style. Just something out of the ordinary or something that does not look like it's obviously copied from a photo.

i guess its the angle of the shot that makes it look a little distorted.. dont have a scanner for yuri sad.gif and no such thing as liquify to adjust on paper to make it perfect laugh.gif (whats drawn is drawn no ctrl+z)

yup... since my canvas is 2500X3500K pixels i used bursh size 25-50 and paint it strand by strand...then finish it up with burn(blur brush size 10) and dodge(blur brush size 80) for more contrast. (wondering if im doing it right)

face is blur and solid brush all the way with burn and dodge for shading adjustments.. used different layers for eyes, nose, mouth and face so can adjust and detail easily without worries of messing up other parts of the face (call it cheating thumbup.gif )
