In Nou Camp, hopefully we got an honest referee just like this game. Amin. Still remember Ovrebo? No? We still remember him. How many penalty did he did turn blind?
*
How many panalties were we turned down in the first leg?

Thats what i thought.

Added on April 19, 2012, 5:51 am

Oh, and if you reeeeeeeeeeeally wanna go down that road, we had a fair penalty turned down in the 1st half today too, where iniesta dribbled pass (cant remember) cahill or remeires and got shoved.
Track back a few pages, see did anybody here complain?

Ovrebo i think trumps them all no offence. Well both team will have a derby this weekend. So you don't think Guardioala will rest couple of key players for the El Clasico match?

Prrrrroobably the only thing I can complain about the team tonight is they didn't go for the kill from the start. They were so relaxed at the during initial stages, passing the ball around too much. Well, they will be doing just that at Camp Nou I think, go for the kill from the start!!

Did chelsea rest anybody for arsenal? No i think it was the best first team we could put out today against u guys, (hence a good win for u), tho xavi, alexis got rested earlier.

On a brighter note, adriano actually had a shot on target after a nice run. Usually he just blows it way off target tongue.gif

For the number of interceptions Chelsea made, it is not a revelation. In fact, it is expected by everyone, considering the number of bodies they threw at the back. And despite of the bus, we still had found our way through their defence. Do you get my POV?

And how was our number of chance kept at minimal? If we convert one of our chances you won't be singing the same tune. Yes the fact is we didn't score. I just want to point out that how ordinary and brilliant gameplays (especially defending) are only separated by a very very thin line these days.
*
Do take note i am not a Chelsea fan, just a neutral that is really impressed with Chelsea game play this morning

You kidding me? of course Chelsea can only keep Barce contain to a certain extend,
If by your definition, on and off for sure Barcelona succeeds in breaking through Chelsea defense
(To me breaking a defense down, is only accountable when u score goals, Barce had a few half-a-chance as the last few minutes where Barce hit the post is imo just half a chance, and half a chance to clear cut chance is a whole different level)

You guys are Barcelona mate! arguably the best attking football club in the world, Which club can possibly "completely" neutralize a team like Barce to not by pass the opposition defence? maybe there is like what hotgary said in La Liga,...but how many are there? even if there is, how often does it happen?

to say Chelsea is expected to make all the blockings, yes is true, but i watch the PL often that tonight is one of the games where Chelsea interception/block - count/success rate is one of the highest ever, that i did not expect to happen.

i think you and i both know in football "If" is a very big word, I think we've gone through all the if's in our life before, but the fact that Barcelona did not score tonight i guess it is rather inappropriate to use that now.

Put it to simpler terms:

What was Expected :
-Barce to win as they were favorites, don't ask me how i know this, from media to betting odds
despite playing at stamford brigde, i find the odds against Chelsea quite degrading sweat.gif
-Barce to score at a goal or more
-Chelsea to intercept balls, block shots

What was Unexpected -
-Chelsea winning the game
-Chelsea got a clean sheet, Barce fail to score
-Chelsea to intercept balls, and block shots that good

The points above may not be significant as one, but if you take them all tiny bits & pieces and accumulate it, Chelsea emerge superior winner. Against Barcelona, a very thin line means everything! There is no thrashing to Barcelona thou i'd love to see that happen some day for the love of football.

Just to prove we aint sore losers, or oni know how to complain etc etc (idea that jose plants into you fanbois heads).. Chelsea deserved it, luck played a massive part, but you won it fair and square, unlike some other teams (u know who) who stamp and shove at the first opportunity. So i think, and i hope many here will agree, they deserve all the credit, good game, and see u in camp nou, if that game is played cleanly like this one, and we lose, i will be the first to congratulate you. smile.gif
*
You are right. Chelsea defended in numbers. They got their goal from their only shot on target but they were dominated by Barcelona at home, who enjoyed almost 80% possession and had like 25 shots. We were unlucky as well, hitting the woodwork twice and having a ball cleared off the line.

Take nothing away from Chelsea, though, they worked hard and got the result they want. We didn't play badly but we just didn't score a goal.

I don't believe in relying on the final score to judge the performance of a team.

Spot on as well. You can't judge a game based on the score line. I have never seen such a one sided game where the team that dominated did not win!

We had the better of chances but we just didn't make them count.

No doubt Barcelona is arguably the best attacking side in world football but you just can't win them all. They probably "deserved to" but football has nothing to do with it as it has time and time proved again that anything is possible.

I have to be honest and agree that Chelsea were not expected to win, though but they defended in numbers (not exactly well) but they got bodies in the way, which in the end, managed to "neutralise" Barca from scoring.

Barca did everything as usual - hold the ball, have high possession, create chances but we just did not score a goal.

p/s - it's so weird to use 'we' as, as the signature shows, I'm a die hard Liverpool fan but I do like Barcelona as well. Maybe even a glory hunter if you'd like XD

Congratz chelsea. U deserved it. And one thing that caught me, I felt a lots of respect during this game, in term of player and manager. RDM I must say, a gentleman. How he keep calm during entire game, and no provocative press conference, really similar like pep. He's on his class..and i guess his attitude transferred thru his player as well. So, while chelsea take arsenal, we got 2nd battle with madrid, title decider match. And after that, we'll welcome chelsea into our fotress and beautiful pitch, camp nou.

You see, this is your POV. Your perspective is like that. You choose to be on the side which believe that, although Barca have breached their defense in a number of times, Chelsea showed the superior defensive display of the match.

I'm on this side of the fence, and I can only see that Barca could only do so much, but nothing to show at the end of it. Lady luck wasn't on our side, probably in the same manner she was not at Chelsea side in 2009.

Regarding PL, I bet that Chelsea very seldom put up such a negative display in PL right?

Yea if is a big word. Just wanted to make a point that anything still could happen last night. For me, that say something about our performance as well. It was superb, considering the condition. We just didn't have the goals to show.

First of all, I do congratulate Chelsea for the win. But I won't go as far as saying they were brilliant. The superior winner? Far from it. I'm not saying Barca was superior either. I'm just saying that both had their moments. It was a balanced affair.

Yes the thin line means something everytime against us, I understand that. My problem is the way the 'brilliant' word has been 'abused' by football fans. It is being abused in such a way that every time you step ahead of the thin line by 1cm, and at the end you win, although it was a nervy affair, then you are the superior one, the brilliant one.

Chelsea did what they had to do, but IMO Barca was the team that showed more initiatives in the game. Chelsea did well, Barca did well. In the end Chelsea came out top. So, again I congratulate them for that smile.gif

I have a friend who is not into football too much, but he joined me watching the game. He uttered some pure gold during the match. I think of sharing em here laugh.gif laugh.gif

'WTF with this play acting?? Did Drogba learn something from Suarez?'

'Even the Japanese women team gameplay has better quality than Chelsea'

Not my words, it was from my lalang friend tongue.gif tongue.gif

Oh, don't want to talk about Chelsea anymore? Then fine!! I'll talk about something more interesting.

yeah drogba, the only thing that annoyed me in last night match. apart from that, we definitely boss the game, hard to believe 24 shots, none going in. coupled with >70% posession summore.

when u just simply park the bus, how the hell can you not say chelsea defend well. but to manage more than 20 shots with that negative tactic, i would say our lads deserve some credits.

kinda miss guaje for this type of match. hmm
