the matte screen on Dell monitor sucks to the max
the much cheaper korean brand 27" S-IPS 2560x1440 has glossy screen
it does has 1 year warranty, considering it is just 1/3 of Dell 2711 price

somemore it can overclock to 100hz++

Im not sure about you, but those professionals, they'll opt matte screen instead of glossy anytime of the day.
S-IPS = 16million colors, H-IPS = 1billion colors.
Dell comes with standard 3 / 5 years warranty.

High refresh rate only good if you're gaming nuts. It's like the latest controversy of the upcoming The Hobbit movie which will be clocked at 48fps. Movies junkie wont llike high fps because its too fake.

hi sifus notworthy.gif
is there any good 23" glossy ips monitor as good as u2312m monitor?
*
Other brands, im not really sure. You can try LG or Asus, but u will lose the color customization ability of U2312. Not to mention, for the price of rm6xx, its as good as it could get. smile.gif

However 1 thing I would like to emphasize here is the aftersales warranty service. Trust me, Dell's response and service is the best.

I have u2312hm with matte anti glare, it makes the grainy rainbow sand effect which is really bad
the white is not white at all, its mixture of grainy rainbow colors
not only white, others color also affected with the rainbow effect
when i place both u2312hm ips and korean ips side by side, i can see how sucks the u2312hm is (maybe becoz it is e-ips VS s-ips)
I am not sure how well the u2711 color reproduction is, but i am sure it will definitely spoiled by the stupid matte screen.
Maybe you are true, those professionals prefer matte screen. Then why apple monitor use glossy screen?

Pulled the trigger on a 2412m a few days ago since I decided not to take a risk by getting the yamakasi. Wow, its like my eyes has opened up for the first time lol. I have no qualms at all. And for me, believe it or not, I love the Ag coating. It makes the screen look so smooth and nice on totally black scenes. I dont really see the rainbow effect on white scenes, but thats most probably because I dont sit too close to the screen.

But other than that, I just love it. If I acually get a new monitor, it will definitely be a 27" 3D IPS 120 Hz monitor by Dell(alienware branded I guess)

No offense, but comparing a 23" u2312 e-ips and korean 27" s-ips is like comparing an apple with an orange because the resolution and the type of panel used are different.
Yes, e-ips is inferior to s-ips but not by much, and both are much much more inferior than h-ips (10bit, 1 billion color, etc etc)
You should have compared the korean brand with u2711, only then it would be fairer.

Why apple monitor use glossy screen? Well, their top of the line 30" cinema display is matte. laugh.gif So, when apple announced newer cinema display without matte option, literally every owner of the previous cinema display laughed their ass off.
Its pretty much a marketing move by Apple, so that glossy fanatics would purchase em straight away. Yeah, glossy screen adds more aesthetic value to it.

Which is why Apple put a matte option for their higher res macbook pro in the first place, to cater those color freaks without any sort of hindrance from sun/light rays.
But you have to know, the world of photography/movie editing doesnt revolve only around Apple products. A lot of professionals too go for Dell, HP, NEC etc.

Hey everyone I need some help fast, I was playing bf 3 a few minutes ago and suddenly my screen turned like this.

Attached Image

It's a AOC e2343F2 and I connected it to my laptop. Does anyone have any suggestions? I checked all the cables and they are okay, I think there is something broken inside the monitor.

correct, it's the connectors at the edge of the panel being disconnected/broken...... you'll have to claim warranty..

Just received and plugged in my Dell U2412M to my Xbox360 (awaiting my rig tomorrow).

Have to say, I was previously using the Dell ST2410, and after switching to U2412, the improvement is obvious. The colors are more vibrant and it just looks so much better.

Kudos to Cyntrix for the calibration and cant wait to test it on my new rig.
