IF we could get Adam Johnson. Then our squad is definitely good enough to knock scums out of their perch this season.

Is Adam Johnson is unwanted at Man City?

Here's to a discussion about the idea of Benayoun (aka King Benny) and to a lesser extent; Maxi Rodriquez and Joe Cole, which we'll continue with the idea of wingers.

We all knew that Benny left for a 'greener pasture' where not only he was paid more but he could actually play. Unfortunately for him, after his move he never played past 1 minute bar that "exhibition match" where the entire Chelsea team was trying so hard to make or in a way, help Torres score in that match.

The one thing that buggered me was that how Maxi would be used. It was without doubt that Maxi was brought in as a replacement, albeit that I had the hunch that Benny and Maxi would have been playing down both flanks to cover our ex-targetman Torres. However, having a team built around one individual can have negative consequences, unless you have another striker that can notch up and take advantage of "the unknown probability" where opponents still have no idea how to mark the formation and players and how that striker would fit in for the particular game.

So back to our discussion, I don't see Benny coming back, but how about Maxi? Would he go out? How about Joe Cole then?

One thing that I am quite sure of, (if I am wrong my apologies) is that Joe Cole is one hell of a trick-pony but isn't the type of winger-forward that at the moment fits in to our line up that is heavily favoured around Carroll (though it beats me how Caroll isn't fit into the system yet, when our boss in theory got it right how to play our forward man [I still remember his articles for The Guardian's Kenny's chalkboards session] where he figured out how Andy Caroll could be played against opposition and apparently somebody listened, resulting in Newcastle having 3 a goal fest against us]). But despite that I'll say Maxi under-achieved of what he potentially he could. But I will offer him credits for his determination and that 'one-final-push' mentality, and besides he's turning into an impact sub which I think he also sees it that way, and doesn't sulk. (Though you can see his frustrations when he can't get his effort past the goal post)

And for that reason alone I believe our gaffer would keep him over Joe Cole. I believe that all these 3 players are in the same mould, and they won't fit if we insit on building a team around Caroll.

Latest from Soccernet:

James Dall:
12.30 - Indeed, the French club have confirmed the signing of the Liverpool midfielder (Joe Cole) on a season-long loan.
-end-

Do we still have to pay for his salary?

Liverpool are preparing a last ditch £15m offer for Manchester City winger Adam Johnson in a deal that is likely to be accepted by Roberto Mancini.

Whilst Mancini would very much like to keep hold of Johnson he is aware that the England international is after first team football and with the likes of Silva and now Samir Nasri able to play his preferred positions the 24 year old is keen on a move.

Although Liverpool have already invested heavily this summer they believe one more winger could prove fruitful especially with Johnson able to play both right and left. Although Kuyt is primarily used on the right the Anfield club are prepared to push the Dutchman further forward to make room for Johnson.

he is so good...20million for him is more than worth...
