Impressed with our defensive work in midfield. I think almost all tackles are clean and on the ball. And we resisted late tackles or from behind.

Latest from Soccernet:

James Dall:
12.30 - Indeed, the French club have confirmed the signing of the Liverpool midfielder (Joe Cole) on a season-long loan.
-end-

Do we still have to pay for his salary?

Lille confirm the signing of Joe Cole from Liverpool on loan for the season. They will be paying a third of his wages. #lfc

erm... bad business by liverpoolfc? why are we still paying 2/3 when the player isnt with us...
*
I think that means 1/3 if not mistaken. Pliz correct me if wrong...

Wow a classy comment from Carra on Coates. That is humility and down to earth for you.

Btw it's good to see Henderson doing well yesterday together with Flanno and Jonjo. Hopefully Flanno can regain is confidence and form. And let's hope all our players come through unscathed from international duty.

imo, the team is still not playing well.
look at the arsenal game, that is winning ugly.
u wouldnt have missed much at all if u missed the first half.

i really cant wait to see both Gerrard and Adam marshall the midfield together biggrin.gif
*
Yup, let's be honest. Our midfielders didn't really click that well except in the last game. Henderson and Adams were just ok in the first 2 games. Altho the sign is positive. But before they can reach the required consistency, we still need someone like Gerrard to change the game.

Henderson is not confident enough at the moment but if KD perseveres with him and he is humble enough to learn, then he should do very well in the long run. He (and even all of us) has to eat humble pie now with Phil Jones called up to the senior England squad while Henderson only for the U21, albeit as captain. Didn't watch the U21 game. Did he play well? Why is he not included in the squad to play Israel?!
*
I think Jones call up for senior England might be due to the fact that defensive area is quite thin in the squad. Pliz correct me. But in midfield I think the squad has so many options.
I watched he played against Azerbaijan and quite impressed with his performance. Lets just say he continued where he left off in the Bolton game. Lets see how he does against Israel tonite.

Yup Hendo was allowed to return early. Only Shelvey played last nite I think. Is Carrol selected for tonite's game? Hopefully he gets some playing time.

Energizer kuyt. full of it  thumbup.gif

I remember in an interview with Liverpool medical where he mentioned that Kuyt is the fittest player in the squad.

Btw, did u guyz watch Downing last nite. There was one incident where he just kicked the ball pass a defender and then straight away sprint to get the ball. It was like watching a 100metre dash and he catch up with the defender effortlessly. But I was screaming mad biggrin.gif afraid he will get injured by pushing himself too hard.
Anyway I would say Downing is not the type of player that will provide you flair or fancy footwork. Rather I would call him an "effective player." He provides what is required from a winger; crosses, beating players from time to time, shot on goal from distance. In the first half alone he provided at least 3 good cross.

Whoops it sure is hot in here sweat.gif But just remember guyz we all want the same thing here. Just continue your support through good n bad.

For me, all the players have done everything they could to win us the game or at least salvage a point. It's a combination of:-

good defending by Stoke
-they defended very well almost like good old Everton. Close down quickly.

luck was not on our side
-hand balls not given. Miss target by Suarez. The one on one chance felled into the wrong player. Any natural striker will either round the keeper or place the ball.

But on the tactical part, I think KD could have done better by changing our approach in the 2nd half given how Stoke defended in the 1st half. Any we wouldn't discuss about this had we converted the chances. BTW Chelsea draw with Stoke last time if I'm not mistaken. We created enough chances, just unlucky not to score.

People asked about how Skrtel gonna deal with Bale but they tend to forget that we cant afford to throw neither young flanagan who is inexperience and lack of form or veteran carra who is obviously dip in form now into that position, can we? Skrtel is the best option we have. We have no other better option.
*
Well I prefer to have Skrtel at RB, dealing with Bale outside the box rather than having him at FB position. I think he has already conceded a penalty this season in Carling Cup (pliz correct me). Flanno dealt well with Drogba last season. But he's not yet at the same confidence level this season so it will be a bit of risk. But he has pace that matches Bale's. I think Kuyt will play on the right to cover the RB.

Agree that our lack of discipline has caused us the game. Adams needs to have a bit of self control. Yes sometimes it is also not helping when referee does not give you the benefit of the doubt. At 1-0 where were very much still in the game. Just need to focus on defending first n patiently build up our attack/play.

Anyway the positive from yesterday:-
- Enrique for his cool n composed play, trying to keep possession and the ball in play. He is among the few who seems to give more effort to push us. Yes he was guilty for letting Walker run passed him. He has leadership quality.
-The fact that we are still above Spurs biggrin.gif
- Suarez not sent off

Anyway let's get it right when we meet at Anfield.

and if i may dare suggest:
Rafa Benitez as a assistant manager.
*
Maybe if RB is willing to...
But I think what KD can do now is paying a visit to RB. I'm sure Rafa will be happy to give a piece of advise. Maybe he will throw in some statistical analysis too. I have a feeling that RB has been secretly watching and analyzing all of our game so far. tongue.gif

Till Konchesky scored the 3rd goal, we were hoping for the best. We almost gave up till the extra time. One of my colleague called the waiter and told the bloke to "kira boss". We all got up from the seat, and there was announcement from the telly that there will be 4 added minutes. We turned when we heard Martin Tyler shouted "Gerrard oh"..., we sat back again and we were stunned with the Captain's screamer.
*
This is the only significant Liverpool match that I didn't get to watch live. And felt a bit regret about it because the feel of watching live can only be experienced once. I always watches till the final whistle even if we were losing badly, always feel that miracle will happen. I know sometimes it is hard, what more if the team is being battered. You just want ref to just end the game there n then. But believe me when we manage to pull off a comeback, it will taste sweeter than ever. It will not be the same if you switch off telly when we were losing, only to find out the next morning that we actually came back to win.

why are people blaming carra for that penalty. he did what he had to do. it was a gamble, the mistake wasn't his in the first place, it was Spearing's.
This ^ I think Spearing's mistake warrants a SAF hairdryer treatment.
