Quick question. Did anyone here do their PR app from Malaysia, and if so... for certified true copy documents, where did you get yours stamped and for how much? page 4: http://www.acs.org.au/__data/assets/pdf_fi...-Applicants.pdf

From what I've read, a commissioner of oaths used to be able to do it but they're no longer legally allowed to do so.

For a public notary, I've found a lawyer who can do it but the fees are quite painfully expensive. Was quoted RM50 per signature, and since I have over a dozen documents (and some of them are multi-page) to get stamped..........

Thanks, will look into that.

Did you use agents to handle your entire migration process from start to end, or did you just pay them to do the document endorsement part?

I did a pre-assessment walk-in with a registered agent in Subang, and they quoted a little over 9k RM in their fees (payable mostly in advance/the early stages of the migration process) blink.gif

I go thru agents. If u got time, DIY also can.
I paid upfront at AUD2500 after the assessment. Before submission the whole application, paid another AUD3600.
My case is pretty easy, no hiccups coz i get 65points. So i had it in 6 mths.
I think they just want u to pay and commit with them. RM9K is not small amount

Yea, I'm gonna try and DIY it.

The pre-assessment indicated my case should be fairly straightforward, so I'd rather jump through a few hoops myself and use the money for the migration fees itself.

Turns out the safe choice is to use a public notary, so unless the Aussie embassy replies my e-mail to say there is a cheaper acceptable option, I'm gonna run with that.

Hi Nemasis

How long does it take to assign case manager? It has been a month since I have submitted my application but the status in the DIAC portal is still showing 'In Progress'.
Not sure what's next?

Congratz for getting a job! You must be really outstanding. My friends cant even get any jobs (IT - the so called hot job SAP) after spending more than 6 mths looking. I wonder is it due to the factor of the salary that we request? Do you guys think that we should lower down 20-30% when the agent asks for the expected salary??

People will normally will ask for at least 10% extra than the current salary rate. If I am getting $70k now, I would expect my next job will be $77k

Have you tried checking if anyone in the list can do it? For ACS, ti says even dentist or pharmacist from the country of origin can help to certify your document. For Engineers Australia, you can approach any graduate member of EA for certification.

E-mailed the Aussie High Commission in KL to ask, they replied that a commissioner for oaths, lawyer/solicitor, or notary is acceptable.

Checked with my lawyer, feedback I got was they can do it for education related stuff but migration/overseas stuff is best done by a notary or a legal firm that also offers notary services (they had a client who tried his luck with them anyways and got burned).

E-mailed ACS to confirm if a Malaysian lawyer would be acceptable, and without saying yes or no... they just replied that a notary is accepted.

Gonna just bite the bullet and go with a notary. Beats pushing my luck then wasting time and money to get it redone later if they reject it.

ACS will most likely ask you to re-certify again without any fee if they don't accept your first certification.

I done my student visa at commissioner of oaths though

RM9k is the more or less standard amount. When I first looked at it 2008/9 it was already around there.

Hi jurlique, my case was around 3 weeks after submission. They'll later ask u to give some documents they required. I got my visa in 6mths time.
A lot of ppl didn't really know the actual situation in Australia. If u try to get a job, it's all about local exp. I know how hard to get the 1st job here. I was very very lucky to get the 1st 1 in 2 weeks. Sent 80 applications so far. All rejected only 2 replied.
I'm not outstanding, just a normal guy with no money. It's totally devastating and miserable when ppl keep on rejecting ur application but u have to stay very positive by thinking tomorrow will have a good start.
Never ever state ur salary or photo in ur resume. Always bear in mind as long they wanna interview, u got 50% chance. 2nd interview is 80%.
Try to meet the employer watever way. Talk to them so that they could notice ur existence. keep on calling once u sent ur application.

I think it's pretty reasonable. If they knew u're jump ship with the same salary. they'll suspicious on u and raise so many question on why r u here.....haha biggrin.gif

It very depends on what profession u're in. Some easy, some damn shit hard.
Sub-standard job easy to get. But u'll be miserable coz it's not the job u want.
However, it's very depends on individual. My housemate who's in IT but end up working in Woolies as nightfillers. Working 7 years and now he's a branch manager with salary app. 70k. Company giving him lots of benefits and allowance. Not bad.

In short no.
You won't qualify for a PR without a university degree and F&B ain't considered a skilled job

What about accountancy? Is it hard to find?

After 7 years and earning $70k is not exactly the dream job for a migrant who is IT grad. Rental already cost about 20k a year. And we haven't included tax, transport, food and others.

Accountancy now is surplus. Came out in newspaper recently. My friend who's ACCA grade who has working exp in KL can't find job for 8 mths. I kinda worried too coz my wife is an accountant. She might hardly get her dream job. However, it's all depend on ur effort and luck. If u keep on sending job applications and keep on calling and knocking their doors. Sure u'll get it one day. I did mine tat way and get my job in 2 weeks.

Yeah, 70k is not high but it's around average Ozzie earnings. Rental is a damn shit. Now i'm thinking of buying instead of renting coz after the calculation, it actually might as well u buy 1.

Food, transport and others after my calculation, it's really depends on ur standard of living. I bought Toyota Corolla at AUD700 as working car. Yeap, it's an old car with 1.50L 250k mileage but engine is damn good. A bit wear and tear, absorber and engine everything so good. I fixed the car DIY and it's ready to run, no problem.
Aiming to buy camry as family budgeting AUD10k. Will serve me for outstation or shopping....car is cheap in Oz...damn!

Food is cheap providing u cook or tapao to office. U seldom see angmoh actually lunch eating out. Everyday sandwich....yuck.
Miscellaneous is like entertainment, clothing and others won't cost u much. Look for sales item or surf gumtree for their unwanted goods which still workable, not the junk that totally rubbish.
