Just wondering if I can get at least RM4k of salary as Level 2 Support or System Admin in IT if I back to Malaysia?
*
Helpdesk support: Might be a bit challenging, unless you have something to boost your prospects (e.g. foreign language, or certifications and experience to justify it).

System Admin: Yep, definitely doable assuming you have the experience and qualifications.

Thinking of moving back to Malaysia? How are things over in Australia? I've read some comments about the economy going through a rough patch and the IT job market being affected too (for migrants).

I'm actually thinking of applying for PR, just started reading up on the steps and ACS.

Quick question. Did anyone here do their PR app from Malaysia, and if so... for certified true copy documents, where did you get yours stamped and for how much? page 4: http://www.acs.org.au/__data/assets/pdf_fi...-Applicants.pdf

From what I've read, a commissioner of oaths used to be able to do it but they're no longer legally allowed to do so.

For a public notary, I've found a lawyer who can do it but the fees are quite painfully expensive. Was quoted RM50 per signature, and since I have over a dozen documents (and some of them are multi-page) to get stamped..........

Maybe can refer to JPA at ground floor, Jalan Duta office. Check with them on tat.
Mine was endorsed by agents
*
Thanks, will look into that.

Did you use agents to handle your entire migration process from start to end, or did you just pay them to do the document endorsement part?

I did a pre-assessment walk-in with a registered agent in Subang, and they quoted a little over 9k RM in their fees (payable mostly in advance/the early stages of the migration process) blink.gif

Yea, I'm gonna try and DIY it.

The pre-assessment indicated my case should be fairly straightforward, so I'd rather jump through a few hoops myself and use the money for the migration fees itself.

Turns out the safe choice is to use a public notary, so unless the Aussie embassy replies my e-mail to say there is a cheaper acceptable option, I'm gonna run with that.

Have you tried checking if anyone in the list can do it? For ACS, ti says even dentist or pharmacist from the country of origin can help to certify your document. For Engineers Australia, you can approach any graduate member of EA for certification.

E-mailed the Aussie High Commission in KL to ask, they replied that a commissioner for oaths, lawyer/solicitor, or notary is acceptable.

Checked with my lawyer, feedback I got was they can do it for education related stuff but migration/overseas stuff is best done by a notary or a legal firm that also offers notary services (they had a client who tried his luck with them anyways and got burned).

E-mailed ACS to confirm if a Malaysian lawyer would be acceptable, and without saying yes or no... they just replied that a notary is accepted.

Gonna just bite the bullet and go with a notary. Beats pushing my luck then wasting time and money to get it redone later if they reject it.

Question: For the people here who applied for a 189 visa (skilled independent), did anyone include a dependent parent?

If so, how did you go about it? I'm reading through the website and using google, but some first-hand accounts would be good smile.gif

Did anyone get documents translated from BM to English for migration purposes, and if so where did you get it done?

Hi guys, I plan to apply VISA subclass 189/190 on my own. From what I understand, these are the steps that I have to go through. Please do correct me if I'm wrong in any of the below

1. Read DIAC website on interested VISA type (subclass 189/190 for me)
2. Find your occupation from skillselect
3. Get your skills assessed (mine is by ACS since I'm in IT and currently at this stage), prepare educational certs, company employment reference letter and get them certified by MOHE/Notary Public
4. Take the IELTS exam
5. Submit EOI
6. EOI approve then submit VISA application for subclass 189(12months) / 190(6months)

Anything that I missed out?

Yep, you got it right smile.gif

Anyone done their medicals using the e-medical system?

If yes:

1) Where did you do it?
2) How was your experience? Service, time for medical results to be uploaded, etc etc.

Feel free to share at length smile.gif

Yes, go to Lifecare in Bangsar South or Gleneagles in Ampang
I did mine in bangsar
U need to chase and screw them until they upload after you pay.
*
Wow... how much screwing did you have to do, and how long did it finally take for them to upload it?

Update: Heh seems I was quite lucky. Did mine Saturday morning, they uploaded results the following Monday. They took a few days more to update me via email (got that notification today morning).

Need some advice, if I want to transfer money between Malaysia and Australia (part of the migration plan) then what would be the smart way to go about it without being hit hard by service charges and sub-par exchange rates?

Comments above indicate Citibank Plus is good for sending money back here (assuming I'm a MYS Citi account holder and open a Citibank Plus account), but in my case I would like to:

- Move savings to AUS for expenses etc (Ideally a 1 time thing, so I don't wanna mess this up since it will be a chunk of money)

- Be able to send back to parents here (every month / few months). From the comments above opening the 2 Citi accounts sounds like the way to go.

I am contemplating if I should go to Australia to start everything from zero and if that is worth. Not sure is it really a good choice to move to Australia. Everything has to build from zero, no family, no friends there

From what I've read/heard, generally speaking if you're earning 5 figures in RM (monthly), in a managerial level post, or running a successful business then you'll find it less appealing. Something along the lines of you're already doing okay here, why go through all the hassle of starting over from scratch, etc. Less pull.

On the other hand, if there are push factors for you then you might find it worth a shot. Kids education, work hours and work-life balance (might be industry dependent), etc etc.

I'm going over in September, and I gotta say it is a bit intimidating. Before/during your PR application, the application is the main focus of your attention so it looks like a big deal in terms of effort. It's actually fairly straight-forward as long as you meet the requirements.

Once you got the PR, the actual migration is the next mountain to scale... and it is a formidable looking mountain biggrin.gif

Getting PR is one, but since its sponsor. Why not?

Most such deal are very hard to come by this day.

You can even live a lifestyle of FIFO of every season or usual 6 month go back msia.

Oh if it's sponsored then it's definitely a huge plus. Less expenses, and a job ready for you when you hit the ground.
