I took the test in KL, had a local examiner I think, nice Indian lady, and she basically told me to continue talking even though I thought I was done.

The writing is definitely the most difficult for me, first because most of us, myself included aren't used to writing on pen and paper so you need to plan your way well. Second is that I tend to write a lot biggrin.gif

Practice and practice, speak english until you can think and dream in english biggrin.gif The accent to me matters less, vocabulary, articulation and sentence structure matters more.
*
My examiner was also an Indian lady but she didnt ask me to continue. She just proceed to ask the next set of questions. I also find writing is the most difficult because I have not hand written for such a long time plus your answer have to be concise and within the word limit. I actually overwrite by more than 100 words for both tasks

My friend, once took IELTS in Melbourne got the desired score in speaking. The examiner asked him what band do you required and he just said 7. Result come out and he got 7.5 lol

Speaking test in AUstralia kinda tricky because most of the examiners are over not young(more than 40 yo) and you have to speak accurately and slow so they will able to catch you.

You are going there for holiday? If yes, then you can use malaysian driving license because my friends do that.
If you have just gotten your PR, then you need to get an Australian driving license

Ya just holiday, my research shown different response from different people.. some said we'll need to get international driving permit from JPJ (RM 150) as rental companies require driving licence in English..some said no need, right now Im actually counting on changing to the new driving licence that will be launched in mid July which will be bilingual..

For holiday or student, Malaysian license will do. For PR, Ozzie license is a must.
Check http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/20389.asp

i can ramble for a minute but past 2mins, i forget the question & ultimately derail from the question.

Once the examiner read out the question, he/she will give you a minute to prepare your answer. The examiner would also give you a paper and a pen to draft your answer.
Dont worry too much and all the best

When did you submit your EOI? The EOI submission will last for about 2 years (depending on your IELTS certs and your profession certs) from the submission date. If you don't hear from them after than period of time, means you are unsuccessful.
I am not too sure how soon after submitting EOI will they respond because I have yet to gone through that stage, still waiting for the respond from the organization assessing my qualification.

You mentioned that your IELTS only got an average of 6.5, means you don't need the point from English test to meet the score requirement. As the minimum score should be 7 across all band in order to get 10 points from English test. Maybe they changed the English requirement because they tend to that.

Ok, give u a tip.
They'll give u a question, u'll have time to write down the point that u gonna speak. DO NOT SIT THERE DREAMING OR DOING NOTHING. Every second counts!
When they request u to speak, just try to speak slow and steady. Do not speak too fast coz asian tend to speak very fast. This is a speaking test, not to test wat u know. So take ur time to express loud and clear.
Speak as much as u can until they ask u to stop.

Like he said, it's not a debate you won't get points for getting the facts right. Treat it like a conversation between someone you just met. But don't speak so slowly that it feels like you're talking to a child. tongue.gif

Making eye contact with your examiner is important as well. If you pandai read their body language you can build rapport with them, at least you won't feel so nervous.

Good luck! thumbup.gif

Whatever the case is with IELTS is my advice is to not take it here in Australia. You'll never goddamn pass lol.

I seriously should just consider quitting mah job, sitting for CELTA and teaching IELTS classes either way.

Also it would be wise to note that this year's EOI quota seems smaller, reflecting the trend whereby Labor tries to appease the unions as it is an election year. My advice would be to aim for a band 8 IELTS score if you want to be selected by the automated system as it has a higher weightage.

People should also note the job cap quota. Meaning that although there are say 3000 spaces, for your particular job there might only be 1000 places depending on need. My advice is that if the pool is thinning, apply under another ASCO code.
