the time frame might take quite long . if they don't have spareparts. if they do. less then 2 days should be done.

LA = Los Angeles
LA = Lebuh Ampang

nah j/k... The LA chip is a chip being used in all 5k series of PS while 3k series are using the BA chip.

This chip controls the emitting diode of the laser unit. This LA chip is known to be flaky (cheap solution by SONY huray...) and unstable. Once this LA chip burns it'll burn out the laser unit also.....This chip is not that expensive but to replace it really hard (you need very good skill in soldering). That's why the labour charge for it is bit expensive.

At least you could give an answer yes or no and the price only.If you can type that long of words a (yes/no) and (RMXXX) would be enough.Lazy people can type that long doh.gif

Adding a few,if yes where can i buy it, is it safe or hurting the memory card ?

Hi,

I've just got my Network Adapter + HD Advance 3.0 and I've got no problem running it.

I was wondering, are there any ways to boot the system directly to the HDD without the use of the DVD at all? I read somewhere that you can actually put the program inside the memory card but you still need a PSX CD to boot into the memory card.

that will only work on an orignial modchip..

clone modchip does not have the "run memory card" function.

Fuah! Even modchip has 'pirated' version? Okay, thanks for the info... I guess I have to live with the fact that I still need to boot from HD Advance to start up the HDD game...

yup. lets take example for the most you seen when the scph-7x00x model.

the original modchip.

Matrix Infinity (Original thumbup.gif) then ---> NH-9 (clone from MA) then --> Modbo (clone from NH-9 but with Updated Firmware From MI (clone) Then ---> Modbo V3.0 (clone everything from MI and thier firmware as well.. with "flashable" drive)

Now that you mention it, are there any ways that you can determine what modchip is installed on a PS2? I bought mine second hand and the owner doesn't have any idea on the modchip.

you can . just get action replay max. there have a max memory manager that you can transfer your gamesave. into your thumb drive (USB)

but be warn. thier software somehow or should I said mostly will corrupt your thumbdrive and memory card.

you can't . you need to unscrew your ps2. and check it out yourself. of course the owner haev no idea. mostly "buyers" intend to play games only.. smile.gif

Dunno whether if this question has been asked before or not,

My problem is,

My 1.5 years old PS2 SCPH 50006 ain't reading new and some old games well. It applies to my DVDs and CDs as well.
Always "Disc Read Error" or "The Red Death Screen".
But some still works well, such as San Andreas and some DVD movies.

So,
After reading numerous guides and FAQs regarding cleaning, fixing and etc. the PS2, I've decided to open up my PS2.

I opened up the black logo case, and then opened the disc case, revealing the laser. The disc tray and etc filled with dust and dirt, so I cleaned it with a damp tissue.

After that, I looked at the gadgets behind the disc tray. (I ejected the disc tray in the first place.)
Suprisingly, I found no solo "White Gear" in my SCPH 50006 to adjust the laser angle.

But what I found is there are two "White Gear"s which are responsible for DREs and RedDeathScreen. From top, there's a hexagon-like opening, maybe for a hexagon screwdriver or something.

Since I don't have the tool, so I toggle it by hand.
After an hour or so with the gears, started to get some games working.

What I wanna ask is,

1) Where can I get the hexagon-like screwdriver?
2) The "Playstation2" screen b4 the game loads seems glicthed (white pixelled, missing, and etc.), what could have cause this? (Got this prob' since a while ago, but didn't gave in any attention coz the games still can load succesfully tht time.)
