at what level should we buy the more expensive IP champions?

im currently only level 12 but looking to buy a champ to carry me till level 20
so far just played with the free champion rotation each week. i play well with anivia, mordekaiser,amumu,veigar but these champs are expensive

dont buy mor or amumu, they will always get banned in ranked game

alexdino, at what level you purchase your first champion and how much it cost?

i seldom purchase high price champion . Started to purchase when i reached level 30. Keep your IP it is very usefull for runes purchase.

It depends if you want to get some sexy runes on level 20 or you prefer to have a lot of champions to play with. I myself shot straight for a 6300IP Brand because it's the first champion I played and I am in love with it ever since then. Both champion and rune helps you in a slightly different way. With rune, you will have a better game of course with any champion while if you buy champion you will always have that champion in your arsenal.

I personally don't believe rune to be game-changing so I get a few champions at first. It's merely my opinion that if I know how to play the champion well, I can perform far better than having a set of rune on a champion I am not so familiar with but of course everyone has their own mindset. And by performing better with champions I know how to use, I win more thus higher IP gain, allowing me to gain runes much faster.

I do suggest you pick up a few champions though for a healthy team composition while trying to get runes. I am level 25 now and my owned champions are Ashe(AD carry), Brand(AP carry), Cho'Gath(Tanker), Olaf(I learn how to jungle with this), Tristana(Free from server) and Twisted Fate(No idea why I get this but it sure help me to win by BD before the patch). Now I just lack a support and I will always have a champion that I know how to play to fit into every team composition. Rune-wise I have 2 pages, too poor to get a 3rd page as of now.

Edit: As for my opinion on high priced champion, I will get them if I like them.

Ya man, buy one champ you like, and then rune him nicely

So you like Brand and are pretty solid with him, imagine now you rune Brand with flat runes giving you: +24 AP, extra 6 mp5 and 9 magic penetration at level 1. Ownage man.
