Kame Sushi @Hartamas.
I've been twice so far, lovely little place with an authentic Japanese itamae. There is no 'A la carte' , everything is omakase , prix fixe, at various tiers. $150 - 250 per head. Easily one of the best sushi restaurants in Malaysia. The quality is easily as good as Ten.....and more exotic items available such as Kane, Shuraku. Highly recommended and already one of my favourites. Sumika Yakitori @Subang Another place I frequent a lot, it's only Yakitori, but they have a wide selection of chicken, beef , pork and seafood items. Various slabs of kobe beef are available too. Book early, or go late, last order is 1130pm I believe, and the place is always full of Japanese. Great little restaurant. Shin Hanata http://www.shin-hinata.com/malaysia/malaysia_index.html New restaurant open in town, I'll be heading there soon, any of you guys been yet? P.S: Sorry for long time not posting and managing this thread. I was away.
Restaurant Name: Nihon-Kai Japanese Restaurant Dining Time: Lunch Inari Sushi Special @RM7.50++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - Not a common inari which is using beancurd skin with rice. This is with additional seaweed in it and I love the new taste it has brought to me. Temaki Soft Shell Crab @RM7.00++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - Crunchy seaweeds + crunchy soft shell crab + crunchy bits = awesomeness! That's how a temaki should be. Ebi Tempura Maki @RM16.00++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - This is delicious especially when chewing their fresh prawns...truly awesome. Fried Rice @RM9.00++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 5/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - Never judge a book by its cover. I doubt anyone of you will order a fried rice in a Japanese restaurant but please do not amazed when I am about to tell you that this is the best among all we have ordered. The wok taste in this fried rice is not going to lose to any Chinese restaurants. Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Food Serving Speed: Fast Recommended?: Yes Full Review: Nihon-Kai Japanese Restaurant |

Restaurant Name: Sushi Hinata
Dining Time: Lunch This is their house specialty which they only serve in a limited time period. In another words, while stock last. It is made of thick fish roe sandwiching a piece of seaweed. It is really crunchy and delicious. Basically I will just introduce with all the pictures which is served to me. You maybe served with different sushi too. So it is really depends on the chef and which chef is serving you on that day. This is my special order for the sea urchin. It is really delicious! I am not regret for ordering it even they will have to add another RM50/pax which means my total Omakase goes up to RM250/pax. Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Price: 1/5 Taste: 4/5 Food Serving Speed: Fast Recommended?: Yes Full Review: Sushi Hinata This post has been edited by RazorVista: Jul 29 2013, 10:25 AM |

Restaurant Name: Waku Waku
Dining Time: Lunch Kurogoma Vanilla @RM9.90++. This is a recommended drink especially to black sesame lover. Rich and thick black sesame taste roam into my mouth which I love it so much. Marinated Salmon Kinoko @RM15.90++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - Not a lot of pieces of salmon in it but every piece of it are equally good. Unagi Kabayaki (Half) @RM27.90++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Overall: 4/5 - Their Unagi is very delicious and it does have the "melt in your mouth" effect. Highly recommended and you can opt for their whole piece which is not expensive too! Hamachi Carpaccio @RM25.90++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - From the photo you can see a sauce drop out on the plate which is not really nice to see. This shows this restaurant's professionalism in making sure their dishes' appearances. As for the taste, it was a little salty but still the hamachi taste very good and not too fishy like some other restaurants. Chicken Hamburger Steak (180g) @RM17.90++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 2/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 2/5 - This is their signature dish but unfortunately their sauce is not amazing and unique at all. Very salty and making the large piece of meat very queasy to eat. I forced myself to finish the whole plate. Conclusion is their signature dish is not appetizing at all. Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Food Serving Speed: Very Fast Recommended?: Not worth to travel all the way for it but you may give it a try when you already in the MidValley. Full Review: Waku Waku |

Restaurant Name: Ippudo KL
Dining Time: Lunch Bakuretsu Tofu @RM18.00++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 5/5 Price: 4/5 Overall: 4/5 - This is really legendary hot & spicy flavor! It is a spicy tofu and minced pork with crispy noodle in hot stone pot. The spiciness is truly spicy BUT it does not have the feeling to hurt your throat. Highly recommended and I believe I can have this with 3 bowls of rice! Spicy Shrimp Mayo @RM15.00++ Outlook: 5/5 Creativity: 5/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 4/5 - The prawn is so tangy and fresh blended in so well with the mayonnaise plus a little spicy chili kick. Perfect for me but it is not enough! Quite expensive when you think about it is costing RM5.00++ per piece! Shiromaru Motoaji Special @RM34.00++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 5/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - The first thing to do when a ramen is served is to taste the soup! Delicious with strong fragrance in it! No salty taste which I had a lot of bad experiences in Singapore for example Menya Musashi Bukotsu and Tampopo Ramen. A basic ramen is comes with pork loin, bean sprouts, kikurage and spring onions. I ordered a special one for myself which is comes with egg and pork belly! Yummy! Their ultra-thin noodle in this ramen is making this ramen to be so perfect! Shiro Kasane Aji @RM29.00++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - In my opinion I will think basically all their ramen is going to use the same soup-based and same noodle. I was terribly wrong when I tasted this bowl of ramen which is totally different than the one before. This noodle is thicker but it is really suit the soup-based. This has makes me very interested to try every each bowl of ramen they have next time. Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Food Serving Speed: Very Fast Recommended?: Yes Full Review: Ippudo KL |

Restaurant Name: Zipangu Japanese Restaurant (Buffet)
Dining Time: Lunch Their sushi is truly excellent. Sometimes people will said the food quality from the buffet and ala-carte are different. However, I do not find it so in this restaurant after I have tried both. Sashimi as well! Basic salmon, toro, shiro toro and mackerel to choose. I like all of them. But nothing to compare with their delicious oyster. So fresh! If you are having half a dozen of it through ala-carte already cost you around RM6.00/each. I easily finished up 12 pieces and I can have more easily. That is why I hate having a buffet because we tend to eat more than we could. Restaurant Name: Ichiriki Japanese Restaurant
Dining Time: Dinner Nama Kaki (Half Dozen) @RM88.00++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 1/5 Price: 1/5 Overall: 2/5 - Not fresh and expensive. A real let down! Jikasei Zaru Tofu Ankake @RM18.00++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 3/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 2/5 - It is a very small cup probably a common chawanmushi bowl is larger than this. It is a cold tasteless tofu which cost almost RM20.00. Terrible! Spicy Soft Shell Crab @RM16.00++ Outlook: 2/5 Creativity: 1/5 Taste: 2/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 1/5 - The soft shell crab is lack of fragrance. The most terrible part is the spicy part of the soft shell crab is actually comes from the common chili sauce. Maybe it is their own homemade chili sauce but to me it taste like a common chili sauce which you can get it in the supermarket. Inaniwa Udon @RM15.00++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 1/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 2/5 - The sauce is very unique enough which need you to mix them all together by yourself. The sauce is good but the most terrible part is the udon is all tangled up together and the taste a little thicker than the usual Inaniwa Udon I used to have. Enoki Butamaki @RM5.00++, Salmon Butamaki @RM7.00++, Papaya Butamaki @RM5.00++, Ebi Butamaki @RM7.00++, Okura Butamaki @RM5.00++, Ikageso Teriyaki @RM5.00++ Ikageso Shioyaki @RM5.00++, Buta Misoyaki @RM6.00++, Salmon Shioyaki @RM8.00++, Salmon Teriyaki @RM8.00++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 5/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - Their best and most creative dish in their menu is their yakitori. There are some a very creative by combining papaya with pork and fish with pork. Absolutely different experience. However, the price is very expensive! Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Food Serving Speed: Moderate Recommended?: No except their yakitori Full Review: Ichiriki |
