Kame Sushi @Hartamas.

I've been twice so far, lovely little place with an authentic Japanese itamae.

There is no 'A la carte' , everything is omakase , prix fixe, at various tiers. $150 - 250 per head.

Easily one of the best sushi restaurants in Malaysia. The quality is easily as good as Ten.....and more exotic items available such as Kane, Shuraku.

Highly recommended and already one of my favourites.

Sumika Yakitori @Subang

Another place I frequent a lot, it's only Yakitori, but they have a wide selection of chicken, beef , pork and seafood items. Various slabs of kobe beef are available too.

Book early, or go late, last order is 1130pm I believe, and the place is always full of Japanese.

Great little restaurant.

New restaurant open in town, I'll be heading there soon, any of you guys been yet?

Let's work on RM800.00 for 2 pax, where would you recommend a good authentic restaurant?

With that budget I would start off at

Kame Sushi ( little known fact , they have special cuts of wagyu available if you ask)
Sushi Hinata
Ten
Iketeru ( grab a hilton loyalty card for 50% off as a couple on food)

Thanks, noted on the list provided.

I liked Kampachi at Equatorial as well, but have limited experience with their other outlets.

If you like yakitori, Sumika in Subang is excellent.

Tried Kampachi at Pavilion, left with a bad impression in terms of service and freshness. Heading to Tokyo in February for a 2 weeks trip, will eat my Yakitori there. laugh.gif

Noted on your recommendation though. biggrin.gif

Hahaha maybe we'll bump into each other. Going to do Tokyo and Niseko for some skiing as well.

I am not fancy iketeru and kame sushi.

Itamae from Hinata has gone his own way and opened Oribe, which is pretty good.

There is a new sushi restaurant in Le Meridien ( independent) , but its prices are crazy, more expensive than Hinata , Kame , Oribe.

Yea, I heard about it. Haven't got the budget to try it yet. Haha...

Hahaha, yeah I really don't think I'm going to try it out, the prices are out of this world....NYC/Tokyo prices are more reasonable even.

Also Nagasaki at Hartamas has decent Yakitori, it's relatively new....

It is fun but think again you are putting those rubbish in you...hmmm....no thanks to that.

I agree, but different people have different budgets.

For those of you looking for a buffet, I recommend Kampachi's brunch buffet, but it's definitely more expensive than something like Shogun. Food is prepared as you order...so it's not a traditional 'buffet-line'.

Will it goes wrong after spending so much? Hahaha
*
Well the chef is supposedly a 3 star michellin holder for his restaurant in Japan, which is booked out til 2017 ohmy.gif

He'll be spending some time here every few months, so you need to book in advance if you want him to personally be preparing your meal.

An acquaintance of mine went, said it's worth it, but who wouldn't say so after spending that hahah. Price in KL is double what he charges in Japan ...

hello. my favourite jap restaurant for ala carte buffet last time was Equatorial. Then apparently the ex-staff open Munakata at Life Centre. Apparently it is closed. What i love is the simple all japanese menu. Nothing fancy, focusing on quality sashimi, soft shell crab etc...

Any recommendation on ala-carte buffet around PJ/KL/Subang area ? Priority on freshness of sashimi (salmon, butterfish, tuna)

If you liked Equatorial, there are Kampachi branches in KL and PJ
