it can be hardly found in KL.
you can search online for it. ciohbu brought it from penang before.
Price is Rm50 per 100ml.
your tank water brownish is because of tannin? i think you put new driftwoods in your aquarium recently?

Probably it's coz of tannin. I did boild, scrub, wash, soak the drifwood for 1 week ++. Hmm, what should i do to make the tank crystal clear water? sad.gif

take the woods out. boil with hot water, soak in bucket of for water (remember change water everyday). After checked no more tannins, only put back into your aquarium.
current aquarium water change 30% every few days, until the water clear.

Try to add activated carbon. You can do it passively by putting in a mesh bag and place it near to moderate/slow water flow.

My 2ft T5 not bright already. Thinking of replace it. what is the price T5 in light shop? I went to a few light shop, their 2ft 840 only 14w each. can use ah?

or need to get 24w and 6500K. Very difficult to find in light shop. Any lubang? what is the average price for each?

If t5ho, I would recommend using Giesemann Midday (rated 5600k) bulb. I have been using it for over a year and the growth is excellent. You won't get yellowish spectrum even it is rated at 5600k. According to Giesemann, it is supposed to mimic midday sunlight. Price is rather expensive but you get what you paid for. Made in German.

My tank as at last night:
Size: 45cm x 25cm x 45cm cheapo tank
Ph: 6.4
Nh: 0
Kh: 1
Gh: no test kit yet
°C: 26°C-27°C
Light: AquaZonic 2x16W
Photo period: 9am-5pm

At first this tank is only a dumping tank because suddenly a friend want to give discus fries so i need to clear up my 2ft setup for marimo...

got time to relook at this tank over the weekend and here is the current setup...
user posted image

overall look of the small tank... the red led temperature reading is a thermostat. got this as i planned to diy cooler but seems like no thermostat is needed but i just use it for easier temp reading...
user posted image

My effort to cool down the tank... powered by pc power supply... before 29°C-30°C, after 26°C-27°C... do this because i plan to put in shrimps... aluminium heatsink is used bcos copper heatsink is bad for fauna... if i'm not mistaken aluminium is not harmful for ph above 5... correct me if i'm wrong...

Take the wood out and put it in the toilet water tank, if it fits la. So every time you flush, you will be changing the water and it doesn't goes to waste... tongue.gif

Ya and change water around 20-30% a day, or just put activated carbon.

whitish cloudy.
i raed some articles that it was bacteria bloom when first starting tank.
but this tank already few months old. it does not have this problem when i first started it.
this condition started last month. until now, i had put almost 10scoops of bacter100, change water 10%-20% weekly.
*
Did you do anything to destroy the bacteria colony? Wash the filter recently? Added any antibiotics? Treated any blue green algae?

Any change to the tank before the clouding starts?

I think you stop with the bacter 100 first.

I got mine from ReefAltech (Opposite Wangsa Walk Mall - Wangsa Maju). He is selling marine stuff but Giesemann Midday bulb is suitable for our planted tank. I have been using it for a year and plant is still growing fine. I can't tell whether the light bulb is reaching the lifespan by looking at it. The best way is to gauge the effectiveness via plant growth.

Price is above RM50. I can't remember exact price but I would say in RM50-100 range.

I am on 6.5-7hrs daily. I tried having break before and I do not think it is giving any difference.

As for your photoperiod, it all drill down to your light intensity and plant. If you have strong light, having 6-8hrs. If medium light, you can go up to 10hours. Please take note on the nutrient level in your tank. Higher light will make plant grow faster (generally) and nutrient uptake will be faster/higher.

I think the important thing is the water temperature should nt differ too much.
