yup, i did rinsed for a few times for the medias supplied, maybe that still not enough, need intensive rinse i think...

another 1 noob question, can we use filtered or RO water for our tank as my tap water supply was so bad condition..so rusty and brownish...
*
depends on your fauna

if u plan to use RO/distilled water (RO anddistilled water are totally different), need to find constant source for that, also u will need some supplement to bring up the GH/KH and adjust the PH too (dun ever use PH up/down chemical products)

for my tank, i refill with distilled water (0GH) and weekly water change with tap water(3GH) + mineral plus to bring up GH

i dun recommend to top up with tap water, your GH will slowly build up until its too high rclxub.gif then suddenly ur fish/shrimp dying...
p/s: our tap water originally come with 2-3GH (depends on location)

if u keeping fish only, GH not that important, focus on PH should be fine icon_rolleyes.gif

hmmm.. there are few factors why shrimp will die actually.. hehee.. high GH is one of them smile.gif

refill
when your tank water evaporate, only h2o dissapear, minerals such as calcium, mag will still be in ur water(they are too heavy to evaporate),
and imagine u refill with tap water (which already have mineral in it), eventually u are adding more mineral into your tank, now your tank is original mineral + new mineral from tap water refill

water change
but its okie to change water with tap water (adjust if too low or too high), because u are taking out X amount of water+mineral, and put back same X amount.

check online for the perfect GH range of your shrimp

http://www.shrimpkeeping.com/

so its better to get a GH test kit before its too late icon_rolleyes.gif

so far i only test PH and GH, KH not really that important specially if u have 2feet tank and above, just my personal opinion and experience

hmmm.. bba could be caused by dirty filter too smile.gif

i think unstable co2 is referring to the amount u supplying when u on your light, make sure its enough for your plants but not too much to kill ur fauna

light ON + little co2 = algae partying, light ON + too much co2 = fauna pengsan rclxub.gif

co2 indicator in tank should show green or green yellowish

i think by increasing your Co2 level, it might kill your fish..found the reason of my cloudy water, the bacter ball.. will wait for a few days, hope to have the crystal clear as before, or any chemical would might help to make it clear faster..
