Hi smile.gif

I would like to ask a question here.
I just purchased a Habitrail OVO dwarf hamster habitat for my little guys from PLC, is it sufficient for 2 winter pearl hamster?

Its been 7 hours since they been into it, and they are using the wheel quite well (i taped the holes on the wheel, hated them sad.gif )

I am thinking about getting another habitrail cage (a proper square cage) to connect to this ovo. Is it necessary? smile.gif

for 2 hamster in an ovo cage is enuf. if u joint it with tubes they have plenty of space to run. Not necessary to add another habitrail. it will make you more difficult when clean. But in case u wana add..i got 2 habitrail for sales. do pm me if u interested. thanks

Is it possible if you could provide us some photo of your ham? Anyway just for ref do your ham show any sign of these?

•Lethargy
•Loss of appetite
•Failure to groom
•Excessively watery diarrhea
•Dehydration
•Dull, sunken eyes
•Irritability
•Hunched posture while sitting or walking
•Abdominal discomfort
•Protruding rectum from constant straining
•Blood in the stool or around the anus in very serious cases

Do you recently change his diet? Or fed him too many vege & fruits? Does your ham show any sign of excessively scratching or grooming? cos i saw that you written "too much scratching or something". I'm sorry to tell your ham are an elder ham. Is there any another choice of changing a different vet who are more into exotic/rodent animal? Does your vet prescribe antibiotic? Anyway does your ham look like this?

Wet tail is diagnosed for young syrians. Dwarves are not prone to wet tail. Is he pooping and eating well?

hmm i'm not so certain of the symptoms as i'm at work and i only observe him at night but i know the way he walks is funny, like hard to walk, or reach for the water bottle.. rectum protuding more than the last time he is healthy.. no blood on stool so far, seems weak, as for the picture.. its more like half his lower body is usually wet,, but not really wet till dripping.. but rather wet.. not sure if he is sleeping n his own pee or dragging his lower body across his own pee.. cuz he always sweeps away the bedding and pee/sleep there.

vet didnt give him anything cuz that day he went to see the vet he seems normal.. but just gave me some vitamin drops.. but after come back from vet same prob again.. haih maybe i should bring to another vet. any around pj?

at office now.. later go home i take pic

Look like your guy are very weak. Try to put his water bottle & food dish near to his house or hideout so that he wont be difficult in reaching those. Also you might wanna fed him some protein food like plain tofu. Remember plain smooth tofu & not egg tofu. Twice per week should be enough. Also you might need to check his teeth. I might afraid if his teeth is overgrown then he wont be able to chew his foods. That time you might need to bring him to vet. to have his teeth to be trim. Also u might need to fed him soft food like plain tofu, baby food.

As for the vet around PJ i heard some positive review of Hand N Paws. You can refer here for reference:-

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/264418

However beside that do your ham show any sign of the below?

-Started sleeping more than usual.
-Started sleeping on his wheel after using it a while
-Started eating less than usual
-Stop eating food that needs extra work such as sunflower seed.
-Stop digging the bedding to cover his house even if I used air con.
-Doesn't come out at 12am often
-Stopped using the wheel
-Stop climbing on the house or wooden bridge
-Couldn't stand anymore, like in the alert state
-keep faling down even when eating, like starting to lose balance
-back legs dosent work properly anymore, like sometimes he drag his behind leg like its injured or something but its not. More like being limped.

These are the sign of old aging ham. I'm not sure if the wetness cause by his pee or other reason. But some ham like to sleep in their pee but however if the wetness are cause by the pee.. yellowish color can be see at his fur when there are wetness. Do update us on your little guy. Hope your little guy recover a.s.a.p.

Just drop by any aquarium shop. I got my medium-sized one from Nilufar Old Klang Road, but if you want the biggest sized one, Pets Lovers Centre Ikano has them. Stocks do often finish quite fast there.

yup should be able to find at aquarium shops, selling fishes wan. I bought mine size of 2ft x 1ft for ~RM50 plus...

take note though not all shops sell big size, so you might need to visit a few aquarium shops. I saw 1 at the petshop in the curve. But that was early last year...can try your luck there is you are nearby that area tongue.gif
