*
Yes, this time around, it is the same form for both.

To apply for BT, must the credit card(which has the outstanding balance) must be at least 1 year old?

Thinking of doing a BT from maybank to public bank cc

Yes, should be more than enough. For more info, read my posts in my blog as follows:

Clcik here to read my post in 2010 where I mentioned the steps and the time frame for CIMB to approve your Balance Transfer application. Do note that in this post I mentioned I forgot to tick 6 months or 12 months at that delayed my application by 1 day.

Click here to download latest CIMB and Direct Access Balance Transfer forms, link at the bottom of the post.

Click here to read more on CIMB Balance Transfer and I also mentioned in this post, you don't have to wait for your latest statement where you can use the last month's statement. Also read the comments which are self explanatory.

No, you can apply BT as long as you got available credit.

depends what you mean by better. CIMB 6 months you only need to pay minimum 5% and end of the 6th month you have to pay lump sum, click the 3rd link I provided above. Whereas Public Bank's 6 month is equal installement.

Then we have MBB 12 months 0% if you need longer repayment period but I guess that is not applicable in your case since you want to transfer out from MBB.

Actually now a day, a lot of confuse word from credit card sales person. Just that day, one std charted bank cc sales call me regaring their BT and MBB BT. They try to come out some confuse word like "separate acc" to said MBB BT is cheating ppl and at the end customer will paid more interest.

For me, tat's no separate accounts even in CIMB BT. All the BT will be under same credit card acc, just CIMB offer special Zero interest for 6 mth BT only. Means that, in the 1st 6 month the BT will not charge any interest as long as customer paid RM50 or 5% whichever is higher. And For MBB BT case, it is more or less like Zero interest instalment planning.

So both BT method oso under same credit acc and NO SEPARATE ACCOUNT. I hope in future sales person NO MORE COME OUT ALL THESE CONFUSE WORD to cheat customer sign up their credit card.

You are right if you pay in full the outstanding amount due before due date. But there is a difference for BT where there is no separate account created and you only pay partially or the minimum 5% as interest will be imposed on the outstanding amount. HSBC more confusing as payment will be based on heirarcy.

To add, for HLB you BT whatever amount up to 80%-90% of your credit limit straight into your savings or current account even if all your other cards have 0% outstanding balance. But must pay interest lah.

Click here to read more on HLB BT if you really really need cash.l But not recommended unless you are really really desperate.

Anyway Miles, what's the status on MBB BT, approved yet?

Well, based on my previous BT to DA in Dec 2011 where I used my OCBC Nov Statement because I wanted to get the BT approved earlier then waiting for the OCBC Statement to arrive, I would say yes if the previous statement where you have paid in full shows a larger amount than your latest coming statement.

There is a separate account for CIMB BT.

I also have BT with MBB and PB, and these 2 banks don't create new accounts for the BT.
