4GB ram cost less than rm200, might want to go ahead, but 6114tx is more attractive with blueray.

4GB DDR3 1333MH nowadays below RM90 yo.

The GPU temp is pretty low for this lappy mostly <80.. only the CPU will get >80 or even 90. nod.gif

Thanks to Acid_RuleZz, your thread really give me great experience and pleasure in reading it. Hope that other thread will be as good as yours.

Hi Acid...the different between 6001 and 6114 will be the ram and blu ray rom?

So the auto-switch for 6114 had been fixed and it will work for openGL program now? So it mean do not have any significant different for the application and performance for both model?

Thank in advanced

Yeah pretty much, but nowadays 6001TX also come with 8GB ram.. so the differences between the 2 is bluray and graphic switching.

Auto switch for 6114TX is still the same.. u can't autoswitch to HD6770M for OpenGL applications but u can run OpenGL by enabling fixed graphic from BIOS and switch to HD6770M manually.

OK so this is one of my lag I'm experience while not transferring data, i.e. normal use lag.

Whenever I boot my laptop, I open Firefox. And when I do that, Firefox's window will load up then the screen just freezes. The mouse cursor can be moved, but Firefox's tabs will not load and the current tab does not load anything. After about 5 seconds, everything resumes, albeit with a little feeling of lag.

So what can I do?

This is weird. before this I used my CQ40+W7 64Bit+4G Ram to run a simulation software. I working fine, until my simulation start to become to huge for the 2 Core, 2.0GHz, 800MHz processor.
Then I change to this DV6. Since this is the first Intel for me, I a bit skeptical (yea, I the red fan boy). With high hope, (who shouldn't) with it Quad Core, 2.0GHz, 1333MHz + turbo boost capability, I try the same simulation on it.
Surprise, surprise.... the software do not recognize Intel i Core processor yet. (what!!) It running, but when it want to simulate, it will search for the processor and identify it, but it fail there. So, not simulation with this software for me.
Well, not to blame anyone. People already using AMD 64Bit technology for their system as Intel insist to use it along with AMD. Now, as time passes, 64Bit software had mature with AMD style. So, I just one thing to say..............

Intel, Y U NO > 9,000????!!!!!!

Your Ffox is stock or full with extensions? Lag happened only when u run FFox right after Windows logon?
If lag only happened after logon i think that because Window is still loading the services examples prefetcher, windows search & etc.

Btw, u might want to install Auslogics Disk Defrag then run Defrag and Optimize from time to time.
Alternative to Auslogic Disk Defrag is Piriform Deffragler.. althought its not as fast as Auslogics' but it has boot time defrag which can be usefull to defrag your fragmented system files.

My Firefox has 3 extensions and constantly less than 3 tabs when I open it.

I can't seem to replicate the problem. It lags when it wants to. Sometimes, I get smooth performance. sweat.gif

I do have Auslogics Disk Defrag, which I Defrag & Optimize frequently (once in 2 days maybe).

Anyway, what's a good boot time?

My boot time, measured with Bootimer, ranges from 28.5 to 30.0 seconds. I think it's pretty good. icon_rolleyes.gif

Orh.. i asked that because previously my Chrome has 9-10 extensions, few apps and 5 pinned tabs. When i open it it will take 10-20 secs to load. sweat.gif
Now only left 5 extensions, non apps and 2 pinned tabs... load as fast as neked IE9. wub.gif

Waa.. Defrag & Optimize every 2 days? U suggest u do it once a week or once every 2 weeks. laugh.gif

30 secs is pretty good already. Nowadays mine just over 30secs since i have alot of things installed and i didn't defrag for almost a month now because i kept downloading stuffs...

Update your BIOS to at least F14 and then enable the Virtualisation in the BIOS. Try to run your simulation programme again. See if this method help.

Most probably 6114TX. If not, the cooler, mouse and pendrive are not considered as free items.
