The auto switching is seamless without any noticeable blank screen, where most of the time you don't even know which graphic card is active. Only the manual switching will incur blank screen during switching.

Acid, how long do you need to change the thermal paste (Including the dissambling and assembling the laptop). Any special tips regarding which part is tricky and need extra care. Watching the video on the first page few times but still feel discourage by the number of screws and parts & connectors we'll need to take out... The temps looks good bro. Actually my only issue is the faceplate. Took 3 weeks of courage to remove it from the DVD-rom. Regarding the screws to secure the bay, i found that the bay itself is pretty tight thats why i ignored the mounting bracket. |

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Aug 6 2011, 11:33 PM) Check if your CPU is throttled. So the motherboard were not screwed to the base? And do you need to take out the USB connector like in the video? I might have to apply a new thermal paste, since my CPU temp can reach 93-94C. About the extra screw, I sure it won't cause any problem as I have the same situation when the Dell technician comes to replace my laptop's motherboard last time. The only thing that still scare me is when u flex out the base cover to make clearance to the connectors on the left side of the mobo. Other than that is still manageable. I opened the mobo again yesterday for the 3rd times and it only takes under 1 hour to complete. Without looking at the manual at all. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « my only failure so far is that, now i got 1 extra screw which i don't know where it come from. If you check the Manual.. to remove system board you need to: The disassemble video on front page is totally different for my model. QUOTE(louisfjh @ Aug 6 2011, 11:38 PM) The max GFlop for my laptop is around 52-54 while under throttle, mostly in the range of 42-48. |

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Aug 7 2011, 12:17 AM) Its in the 2nd post. Thanks for the advice and guidance.I think got 1 or 2 screws and another 2 on the fan. You don't need to take out the USB module.. just need to disconnect the cable. I have just finish reapplying new thermal paste. It took me about 2.5 hours. Good news is I able to reassemble it back without any extra screw and the laptop work flawlessly. The bad news, I have broken a tiny piece of plastic frame that used to hold the HDMI connector in place. Luckily the majority of the plastic frame (~90%) is still intact. Temp drop a bit (not significant) but at least it didn't go over 90C on IBT. p/s: Now I know what a ZIF is. Almost damage the keyboard connector when I forcefully pull it out from the ZIF socket. |

Please reply, thanks very much It's non glossy, at least for the black colour Beats headphoneQUOTE(gseed87 @ Aug 7 2011, 12:45 PM) As far as i know, 6114tx come with blue-ray drive and also auto-switchable GPU. Others all same with 6001tx Correction: 6114TX come with both auto and manual switching capability while 6001TX can use manual swithing only. |

QUOTE(rurushu @ Aug 7 2011, 10:02 PM) You guys really courageous warriors la... me no courage to do that... No choice. If sent to HP, it may end up the same as before for the thermal paste application and may take some time. Besides I have some thermal paste left and want to know better the internal structure of this laptop. Can i bring my dv6 to HP centre for them to reapply for me? Yay!!! So now we dv6-6114tx owners are PROUD!!!!! I think you need go read first page.... got all the required info.... Wonder why everyone dont read first post??? QUOTE(dinraxxx @ Aug 7 2011, 10:03 PM) yep.just read it through. But sadly the speakers sounded a bit crap to my macbook.I dunno why.thought this one should have more energy and good audio. Did you enable the Beat System, aka fn + B ? Under normal condition, only 2 speaker will produce sound, but when the Beats system is enable, all the 4 speaker will produce sound. |

QUOTE(zarakiken @ Aug 9 2011, 01:46 AM) Only Acid (6001TX - self), me (6108TX - self) and rurushu (6114TX - HP Technician). How would I said it. It's not as easy as desktop assembling, but it is achieavable as most part especially the wiring are all in place save some were hold with salophone tape. The prying part and motherboard removal will require more courage and determination. The 3 critical parts you'll need is a reasonable large workspace for placing your disassembled component and for screw placing (so you can remember it's location), screwdriver (thin long and magnitised) and a thin piece of metal (like nail file) to pry open some parts like the backplate, keyboard and front cover, and lastly an air-conditioned or at least with some well place fan to control the room temp (you'll sweat a lot if the workplace is hot). Maybe I'll write a step by step guide this weekend (while I can still remember it) and post here. p/s: If I post the guide, it will only be a guidance/recollection of what I did and do it at your own risk if you decide to go through with it. I'll take no responsibility for any damages that you cause to your precious "baby". |

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Aug 9 2011, 05:50 AM) yay a guide. My guide will be a wall of text, no picture. For picture they will have to refer to the manual. do you want to do some review for DV6? or any other volunteer? can use format similar to notebookcheck.net. I've took some picture of the heat sink, motherboard and empty shell but the pic quality is really bad since it was taken with a 2MP handphone camera. For review, let someone do it. I'm not that good and objective enough to do a review. This post has been edited by Efalex: Aug 9 2011, 06:22 AM |

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Aug 9 2011, 04:55 PM) Yo Acid, just reread your comment on the V2 about you were checking on the processor for the confirmation that your laptop is the B3 version, but found no wording on the chip. I just realised that you check on the wrong chip. It should be the chipset (covered by the square metal piece hold by 2 screw). Maybe the next time, you disassemble it again, you can take a look on the chipset. QUOTE(chahupping @ Aug 9 2011, 05:10 PM) Open your device manager to see what brand of HDD you have. You could use HWInfo64 to see if it will show your HDD temp. Just tick/check on the "sensor only" box at the program start up and then click on Run. |

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Aug 9 2011, 05:18 PM) Like that need to see other user with Toshiba HDD got detect temp or not.. My Toshiba HD do show temp on the monitoring program. If don't have, then means not supported by both apps... QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Aug 9 2011, 05:25 PM) Yeah.. my fren pointed that few days ago. Silly me. No, as the chipset were using thermal pad instead of thermal paste. Besides, I not sure if the thermal paste will be thick enough to provide good contact with the heatsink since the thermal pad looks quite thick. Then, surely they will know that you have "r@ped" you DV6 if they find the thermal paste in between the chipset and it's heatsink. Did you reapply the thermal paste on the chipset too? |

QUOTE(rurushu @ Aug 9 2011, 11:55 PM) Oh... i see i see... So i think my temps are okok is it? Of course lah...mine is 6108TX.Erm, last time i downloaded the version on your signature and it doesnt detect my GPU, but i can detect hdd. Then i go download the latest one (forgot is which version) and it managed to detect everything... Well, now when im using the Intel HD3000, the GPU is not detected. When im using Radeon HD6770M then only the GPU is detected which i think is normal after i changed it to manual switching... Edit: Whoa!!! Meaning Efalex's HDD is 1TB!? Acid is more geng, 1.2TB HDD without DVD-ROM.. |

If you use Steam for your gaming, I guess it's fine.Acid got that space is it due to the extra hdd to replace the dvd-rom? QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Aug 10 2011, 12:52 AM) For now it's impossible until the Samsung Spinpoint M8 HN-M101MBB is out as the Toshiba HDD is the 12.7mm thick. Just not sure if this HD can fit in the DVD-ROM slot. |

QUOTE(rurushu @ Aug 10 2011, 12:52 PM) Samsung hard disk good? Which manufacturer's hdd is on the upside? So far i always heard people said Toshiba and Hitachi ones are good, Samsung also good? No one's using Seagate and WD... even though they're the biggest player in the hdd market That Samsung HD is the new 2.5" 1TB hard disk with the height of 9.5mm compare to my Toshiba 1TB HD with 12.7mm height. And recently Hitachi is "eaten" by WD and Samsung is "consumed" by Seagate... so how to see which hdd is good now? The thinner one should be able to slot into the DVD-ROM's bay |

No. There is no warranty card in the package. Any problem with your headset, you'll have to claim it with HP, perhaps needs to provide your DV6 serial number as proof.

QUOTE(ks_loh11 @ Aug 11 2011, 11:19 AM) and i duno which person is right now... =( Does he own a DV6 bundled with Beats headphone?jsnkok said warranty cover by Hwee Seng? which source is correct? The one he mention is meant for those bought retail version distributed by Malaysian Authorised Distributer, not bundled with DV6. I've opened mine and there are no warranty card in it and ours are coming from Singapore, not through Hwee Seng Sdn Bhd. It's been discussed earlier in the previous thread. I think someone mentioned that Beats' official website doesn't even recognised ours' serial number. |

QUOTE(heuristic @ Aug 11 2011, 11:29 AM) i think i have the warranty card inside the beats box.. mine is bundled with hp.. but i haven send the warranty card.. Maybe yours is the first batch that HP has to get the stock from some distributor? QUOTE(ks_loh11 @ Aug 11 2011, 11:34 AM) oouch~ u r right, i saw the shipping info it's direct from Singapore I think it's HP as someone ask the question regarding this to the HP Sales/Technical personal. Can't remember who.... so basically there's no warranty from local distributor, and is there any page or document stated that warranty can be claim from HP? Added on August 11, 2011, 11:36 am and the warranty is from who huh? Maybe someone who remember or the actual person can clarify this. This post has been edited by Efalex: Aug 11 2011, 11:40 AM |
