Hey guys. I tot i share with you all my experience and opinion so far with VU 2.35.0. This was only my second ROM (the first was cyanogen 7.0.3 for like 12hours and didnt like it). I have always been on stock unrooted HTC ROMs and maintained abou 90% of all my widgets, (running) programs and setting.
Pros:
Relatively fast but some times still lags
Connects to and maintain HSDPA signals more often then stock ROM in good strong signal areas
Sense 3.0 widgets like Stock (++)
Cons
Reduced battery life (definitely less battery life in VU)
Drops calls and loss of signals very often (just shy of not being able to use my phone in KLCC area yesterday - TBD today)
Less compatible with my Tasker profiles set
The cons I am getting using VU is quite major to me. So I am planning to use the Android Revolution 6.1.0 soon. Backing up my stuff now

i was on VU 1.31. Updated to 2.35. didn't like the battery life as you mentioned. after 2 days.wiped everything, deleted the battery stats, formatted and reflashed again to 1.31.
after a few days i decided to try 2.35 again one more time before deciding to stay or jump.one more time, wiped everything.delete the battery stats, formatted and reflashed.
Now I have better battery life on VU 2.35 compared to 1.31. The most significant is when the display is off.it consumes very little.from battery being 100% at 11pm to morning about 7am. it consumed about 5% only. that's quite nice i think. everything else was off.no mobile data,no syncs. nothing.
i have noticed if on mobile data or wifi it definitely sucks more battery than 1.31. understandable as the signals are better and stronger.
Compared to VU 1.31 and Leedroid 3.3.3 definitely better with the same amount of usage. no drop calls.no loss of signals either. the only significant issue for me was the internet pass through which doesn't work unless applying a fix which is available when you search it. the other part was the OC daemon, i thought i can set it to work better on my own as i did on 1.31. i found out removing the app(which is not there by default in 2.35 anyway) made battery life better and not messing with it. i mean i don't play games..so non issue for clock speed. it's smooth and nice as is. no messing required.
i am going to stick with 2.35 till the next version of VU as my daily rom. testing others as time permits.
btw the battery life gets better as you use it for a few days.worst is usually the day after you flash.that's the case with all roms.
