Lets see, I leave my data on, with gmail synch. and i only did occasional whats app messages for an hour, it went down 10%. Now, after i last charged, about 7 hours, battery down from 90+ to 30%

fyi,im still using stock rom(havent try custom rom coz i dont need it yet)..
and i heard speedmod kernel can fix the battery life problem but still the same

I have root my s2 earlier.
I have just flashed to Lite'ning4.2.

Question:
1. if now i hard reset my s2, will it go back to its stock rom?
2. After flashed to Lite'ning 4.2, is my s2 still rooted?

1. if you backup first your stock rom before you flash lite'ning you can restore back your stock rom, or you can find stock rom in XDA forum.
2. Your sgs2 is still root after you flash lite'ning.

serving means it is working right? mine is serving too, and it is working =)

nope you are wrong. even a company engineers screw up stuffs. no programmers are perfect. i study software i know that. kernel plays an important role. everyone can cook a rom but see what kernel they use. kernel dev are the most important one. i even build my own rom based on cm7. see~~ thats why a theme kitchen, rom kitchen exist. did you see any kernel kitchen around?

err..settings in wifi explorer?i just open it and it is working...i did not change anythg at all.

How is CM7 so far? Not yet trying it, but that will be the only ROM I will migrate from current Villian

What rom are you on and the baseband and kernel ?
Did you reset your modem to test gain ?
Did you try testing it at other WiFi outlets ?

I never think that changing rom will affect its WiFi capability. I have tried and tested so many types of roms and varying it with numerous kernels, yet to ever face a situation wifi has problems .

actually benny, this afternoon i read through the whole speedmod thread and it is said that speedmod+VR will infact affect the wifi, they cant connect it and it will be stuck at obtaining ip address unless you set it with static ip. So such cases do exist, i experience it myself too with one version of lightning rom same condition, when i upgraded to another version, the wifi works

I am only quoting based on my experience flashing all the various types of roms and kernels. It is exactly same scenario with all my other Androids - Galaxy Tab, Dell Streak, HD2 on Android, Atrix, etc - never faced any wifi detect issue at all with all the various roms/kernels I have gone through. WiFi detection is always instant/immediate. Only issue I have faced was my ex Xperia Arc and that was because of its hardware limitation which do not detect wifi channels above 11

Just found the solution to this, just put the extracted bootanimation.zip in data/local.

Is there a way to Nexus One style of keyboard to my SGS2 ? I find the allocation especially the keyboard setting button to be inconveniently positioned.
